thank you sm for showing your actual admission officer comments and file! it's really nice to actually see someone's actual physical copy bc most people said they weren't allowed to take pics so idk. i'm deciding on applying to harvard business school soon so this was helpful to see how they do ratings!
For Athletics this is the breakdown: 1: You're basically guaranteed to make it into some major national level sports team (like NBA, NFL, NHL, etc.) 2: You're capable of being a walk on into the sports team of harvard 3: You've done sports in general in your school 4: You've done no sports 5: iirc this is for when you do sports but they are not associated with your school (they will waive you if this is the case iirc) 6: You were physically incapable of participating in sports (they will waive you in this case iirc)
I legit wanna know for other students, and I think that yours is truly inspiring because it is so annoying to hear people who say NON STOP that it is impossible to get in without an Olympiad
You are a gem. Thank you so much for explaining and sharing your admissions file with us. I really appreciate it!! I got my interview yesteday, and I'm a bit nervous about it, so your video helped a lot!!
good luck! i am class of 2020 :) i am editing a video about the interview right now so hopefully that will provide some helpful insights if you haven't already completed that!
Hi Danu! Great video!!! I was just wondering what kind of extracurricular activities did you do? Do you thinks that joining a charity club is a good idea if you are passionate about the issue? Will they appreciate that when I apply for collage? I really enjoy watching your videos:). Anna C
aw thanks! i did a really wide range of ecs: orchestra, volunteering at a charity shop, tutoring kids for a paid job, public speaking etc. ill prob make a video on that if you'd like! i would say definitely join clubs you have a passionate interest in - the sooner the better. you want to make sure you can show a genuine commitment and if there isn't a club for something you're passionate about, make one! it doesn't have to be super fancy - use what you have. for example, i started a political art club at my high school which was really just me and a classmate organising projects with younger students every week to explore political conversations such as the one on immigration. hope this helps :)
thanks for reaching out! i actually didn't calculate my GPA - we didn't have a system for that so i don't think i filled that part in. based on my grades and school reccs on academics i think they guess-timated what i would've been around :) they also have my ACT scores to help them figure out where i was academically compared to my American counterparts - lmk if that helps!
humour is subjective and college admissions are already so stressful as it is! i like to have fun with my videos by cracking a joke here and there to take the edge off. thank you for your well wishes :)
i am class of 2020 - a pandemic grad! my insights are based on my interview, those from friends in younger years, and tips i gained from programs like the sutton trust :)
feel free to check out my video breaking down the interview process here! ua-cam.com/video/eTfkTB-dOE8/v-deo.html ^-^

oh wow i didn't know that was a thing! definitely didn't do olympiad and none of my friends at harvard did that so must be a modern myth
@@danutheonlydanu it is a great video, and I’ve just watched your latest one and it is even more inspiring ;)
aw tysm! that's so sweet - glad you enjoyed ^-^
Lol, olympiads are only good for MIT. For Harvard, it’s really different

Thanks for sharing this, Danu! I noticed only fithe first five ECs were listed. Are the other activities disregarded?
What were the questions you asked your interviewer?
Is it the same for grad school applications?

what if we lie, that we are first gen student to collage???
Great video thanks for sharing! I have a question if you don’t mind, how did you calculate your GPA?

@@danutheonlydanu I am also doing GCSEs and ALs and was utterly confused 😂 thanks for clarifying!
ofc! it can be super confusing bc they use a lot of american lingo. feel free to post more questions here if any arise!
hello can i apply to harvard whilst majoring at another university i dont have anybbachelors degree
Yes you can
You just won't tell them you're in college
Where are you from in the UK? I am from south London and really want to apply to Harvard. It is nice to see a success story from the UK!
Did you really have to start your video with that line? anyway well done on getting in.

thank you for your well wishes :)
issa joke! and it was her cat which she mentioned in one of her essays that was memorable so lighten up
