  • What a fun day of adventuring in the middle of nowhere here in Florida! We set out to do a bit of exploration and fossil hunting, but grabbed the fishing poles on the way out the door which turned out to be an excellent decision! Tons of beautiful sunfish (redbreast sunfish, bluegill, etc) for dinner(s) and fertilizing our garden! After the fishing, we found a wonderful little patch of delicious wild blueberries (seriously incredible flavor) and then finally got into the part of the river/creek that exposes good fossils. Bri did some diving while I sifted and she found some incredible stuff (as always).

⭐️⭐️I love ❤ that you put in what the flowers & plants were. I’ve asked you before what the flowers & plants were. Thank you so much for the plant id!!
FYI here in SK, Canada we also have blueberries 🫐. They grow them commercially in BC too.

Being a fish head I've got to nerd out a little and let you know that the orange fish y'all were catching were Redbreast, Lepomis auritus. The purple fish was a big male Bluegill, Lepomis macrochirus. Both are members of the sunfish family Centrarchidae. Beautiful fish. That tannic water really had their color popping!

🦈Fascinating! We just moved from Venice to New Smyrna Beach. Used to dive all the time for meg teeth years ago before they became harder to find. Other than our 6-inch woolly mammoth tooth (hard to miss that)... I wonder how many other fossil treasures we swam by. Going to Rock Springs in Apopka this week. Never tried hunting in natural springs.
