The SDF is made a deal with Assad (they still oppose him and his regime) and the HTS also seems to have a deal going with the SDF and other groups. The HTS is backed by turkey and is an islamistic group, however it seems that currently they dont murder christians and other muslims.

Also, their insurrection in Turkey garnered them the "terrorist" designaton by UN + EU / NATO --- even the US I believe still has them designated a terrorist organization (though there is a strategic ambiguity held between the PKK and the Kurds --- plausible deniability ...). Problem is that when Turkey attacked the Kurds they gave a US ammo / fire base a heads up --- via a call between Erdoga & Trump -- just long enough for diplomatic niceties & trump, as usual, screwed them over and did not warn either Kurds or his own military. The result was a major incursion into Syria,, a shelling and destrution of our arms depot with the evac of several dozens of our soldiers from the artillery barrage Turkey used to ensure the weapons were'nt transferred to Kurds, as well as a Turkish army appearing against the Kurds. Our soldiers were treated in Germany with over-pressure trauma --- while trump said there were no injuries, only headaches..... sorry for the rant but the pernicious behavior of trump when it comes to respect for our armed forces and those of our allies is beyond the pale ---- and why anything he does should be suspect.

I don't know why you'd say the yellow/SDF are extreme. Next to FSA in al-Tanf, they are the only other western allied force in Syria. They are really just moving to make sure the Islamist rebels don't take the wrong turn heading south.

I don't know if the picture of rebel forces in Syria is fully clear. Remember, it was Kurdish forces that seized the int'l airport in Aleppo. They are working in tandem with the other rebels, made up of literally dozens of groups that have all made common cause against Assad. Painting them all as bad guys, well, I don't think it's that simple, especially the comment that the rebels want to ethnically cleanse Kurds when Kurds are literally fighting side-by-side with them. There has been a lot of fear-mongering spurred on by Ruzzian disinformation, but remember, the leading Catholic cleric, a Franciscan, fully supports the main Islamist rebel group that runs Idlib province, the rebels have ensured churches have remained open and Christians be treated well and not molested in any way. So there's that.

How can anyone believe the propaganda. Well, if you never had to deal with it, you can't even have a clue of how difficult it is to not believe what you have told since birth, and then you are dead. Re: no good guys in Syria - everything yellow on your map is under Kurdish control. Just like in Iraqi Kurdistan, they aspire to a lifestyle that is a) secular, b) egalitarian (they protect oppressed minorities within the borders they control, and espouse relative gender equality in their ranks). Were it not for the fact that the Turks control the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits, the Kurds would 100% be the West's strongest ally in the region next to Israel. How can anyone believe the propaganda. Well, if you never had to deal with it, you can't even have a clue of how difficult it is to not believe what you have told since birth, and then you are dead. Re: no good guys in Syria - everything yellow on your map is under Kurdish control. Just like in Iraqi Kurdistan, they aspire to a lifestyle that is a) secular, b) egalitarian (they protect oppressed minorities within the borders they control, and espouse relative gender equality in their ranks). Were it not for the fact that the Turks control the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits, the Kurds would 100% be the West's strongest ally in the region next to Israel. But, because of that inconvenient geopolitical truth of those straits, we all have to collectively kiss Turkey's ass, even as they become more autocratic and ethnonationalist.
