I bought the Kamado joe connect. I put charcoal in and set the temp and it has a element that lights it for me. OMG we cooked steaks and hamburgers lastnight (4th of July) and I'm in love with my new purchase. With cover and grill scrubber it came to $1998.00. Expensive for a grill but expect it to be around for years
Great first effort! Can I suggest you wait a bit longer next time for charcoal to turn all white then reverse sear on such a lovely Steak ( 1 hour low temp then sear that bad boy)
@@MapSpawnfirst set up indirect heat and low temp 90-100 C degree. Keep an eye on the internal temp of the steak. Take it off the heat at 50 degree C internal and let it rest a little. Meantime set up the grill with high heat and direct grilling (no need to re-lite, just remove platsetter and open all air vents). Once at 250 degrees grill the steak on both sides for only a couple of min to get a nice crust.
As a beginner (just telling you what has worked for me thus far) - I make sure that the temp reaches 250-300 degree C. and there is no black smoke emitting from the fire before I put beef on the grill, coz I am always look for a great crust and no nasty charcoal smell. Then, I add some smoking wood chips and close the cover for 5 mins.
can you help me understand the times? . A: X min, litting the fire and getting the coals to that stage . B: X min, creating the crust time . C: 5 min, cooking the inside by closing the cover and cooking
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SPECIFY EXACTLY HOW MANY MINUTES FOR A THICK RIB EYE STEAK TO MAKE IT MEDIUM - ON A $400 SKILLET NON STICK PAN AND ON A SMALL $40 GRILL BRAND NEW FROM HOME DEPOT JUST WANNA KNOW HOW MANY MINUTES EACH SIDE. SOME PEOPLE SAY 3 MINUTES. SOME SAY 7 MINUTES SOME SAY 2 MINUTES I JUST LIKE IT MEDIUM, GOLD/BROWN LOOK, JUICY LOOKING, NOT DRY LOOKING….

It's unclear to me how to perform a sear once you've been in a low temp range. Are you taking the steak out, rebuilding the fire, and then searing?

@@MapSpawn4 my first time yesterday I did the reverse sear. But I need a second grill to sear it.
Like, on a pan?

No black smoke = no flavor
No point in cooking a steak on a kamado with the lid wide open the entire cook.
😂😂😂
Try smoking it next time and searing it on high heat.
Lol look at the lil guy. Have to say I love my big Joe
*Chef’s kiss*
Great work 🎉
This is probably one of the best looking steaks I've seen in a good while🥹
I love it. Ribeye...let the fire do the work! Perfect
That shit looks beautiful
Good looking cowboy steaks
Awesome
She’s a great grill
Well done!
Wouaw magnifique 💓
hi, the product looks great. Where can I get it, do you have a link or something, thanks 😊
Not sure if they sell it in your country but Google Kamado Joe. There are different sizes. Mine’s the Joe Jr.
@@RoamTheWorld Thank you, I think I will look into it. Good night
Try reverse sear next time is the best
lookie at that all new!
Named after tanjiro kamado 👍👍👍👍👍
How do you like the Jr so far? I'm pretty sure I'm getting one but still undecided.
It’s great! It’s the perfect size for our family. Might wanna get the Classic if you think you’re gonna need more space for grilling.
i will never use anything else to grill my meats. i'm korean and this is the pinnacle grilling method for korean bbq
@@robertdepesci3418 dang that’s cool.
@@robertdepesci3418do you have the Jr or another size?
@robertdepesci3418 since you're korean why do u say korean bbq. It's just bbq
You cook on the coals not on the flame

Cook to temperature not time. Get a meat thermometer and cook to your desired temperature.
Nice!!
I doubt is core temp of meat is high enough. Maybe reverse sear this next time with the lid closed.
I guess you know better than the thermometer.

@@sanderanders the point is I want to grill a steak. I’ll make sure to check with you next time when checking the temperature.
What model it is?
What temp did you pull it?
115°F then let it rest for 15-30 minutes.
