Man I love the Wolfhound. Not only was it one of my first-ever 'mechs (My first Battletech/Mechwarrior Exposure was MW4: Mercenaries as a kid), but I still love it today on the tabletop and in the video games, as a cheap, fast, but reliable energy boat. No worries about ammo explosions or depletion, proper heat management means continuous fire, and the fact that it can mount a large weapon slot makes it a deadly opponent to most enemy 'mechs!
Hello Grim. I find it surprising that the Awesome has not yet been covered. This 'iconic' Mech is one of the first any player ever encounters or uses, and is one of the most recognizable units in the game, along side others like: the Marauder, Warhammer, Rifleman, Atlas, Phoenix Hawk, Archer, Panther and Jenner. During my time playing with my old Play Group, I dabbled a bit with altering this Mech, even though it was nearly perfect 'as is'. For my own use, swapping the three PPCs for three Large Lasers and adding heat sinks eliminated the heat problems of the Awesome almost totally. Although one would think that the reduction in firepower would cripple the design, being able to fire all three Large Lasers every turn for several turns actually produced a higher percentage of hits and thus more firepower onto targets over the pattern of 3-2-2-2-3-2-2-2-etc needed to keep the Awesome from over heating with it's triple PPCs. With the introduction of the Helm Memory Core's data, Building an Awesome with Endo-Steel and Ferro-Fiberous, and a XL Engine, free up enough space to mount FOUR ER-PPCs and enough Double Strength Heat Sinks to keep the Mech relatively cool in most situations. So, as you may surmise from the above, my vote is for A: the Awesome spoken, Frank-ly
No Phelan Kell for famous pilots? I love the Wolfhound, good blend of speed, armor and fire power for a light. Only time I ever had a problem with it, was over heating, and most of that was my own fault from too many Alpha strikes. As for the pole, A for me, because nothing says I love you more then 3 PPCS ( unless it's 3 Gauss Rifles)!
You forgot the Wolfhound IIC, a Clan Tech rebuild of Phelan Kell's Wolfhound, after he was captured by Clan Wolf in 3049 while fighting on the world called, The Rock (no relation to the Dark Angels fortress monastery in 40k) in the Oberon Protectorate, and became a bondsman after it was discovered that he was a direct descendant of Micheal Ward, the source of the Ward Bloodname. The Wolfhound IIC is built using a Clan Endo-Steel chassis, a Clan XL engine to save weight and its protected by 6.5 tons of Clan Ferro-Fibrous armor, it mounts a Clan ECM suite to provide protect against enemy electronics. For Weapons it mounts a Clan ER large laser on the right arm, 3 Clan Medium Pulse lasers split into the torsos, and a single Clan ER Medium Laser in the rear.
The Wolf hound is one of my favorite lights. I have three, so I am biased. As for the next assault mech, I vote for the Awesome, because it just is that ! It was one of the first Battletech models I bought, way back in 86' or 87', along with the Atlas. Anyway, thanks for the video!
I'm surprised that you did not include Phelan Kell and his Wolfhound "Grinner". If I understand correctly, he was one of the first IS Mechwarriors to encounter Clan Wolf when it hit the IS. Once accepted as a Clan Mechwarrior after his capture, MW Phelan piloted "Grinner" again after the Mech was upgraded with Clan tech and presented to him by Wolf Khan Ulric Kerensky after Phelan's acquisition of a "Bloodname".
I really liked the Wolfhoind, even though the Kell Hounds are pretty loyal it always struck me as odd that they'd let a mercenary unit field test the brand new mech. I've heard the argument that the mercs would be more expendable than house troops if it turned out not to be a good mech. From a security standpoint it makes no sense to do this, it's a brand new mech and for operational standpoint you don't want your enemy to get info about something like this. I also liked the Wolftrap,it getting a bad rap with the kuritans made it something my merc unit could buy in our old tabletop Option C for next week please
The idea that the Wolfhound could "keep a distance" from a Jenner never made a lot of sense from me. The Jenner is both faster and has more mobility (jump jets) than the Wolfhound. Against a Panther, however, the advantage is pretty clear.
The ER large only has to hit once or twice to breach the Jenner's armor, so unless the Jenner is on a suicide charge it has a hard time closing distance without any cover.
The Wolfhound is a great 'Mech, designed by none other than BT author Mike Stackpole. I wrote one of the latest variants, the WLF-5, in TRO 3085. Check out my video on writing for that TRO here: ua-cam.com/video/_H3FS07N3dw/v-deo.html
Is it just me or does this thing seem very heavily armed for a light mech? I mean I know it’s Lyran so it’s kind of par for the course, but dang. I always waffle only my love for the Lyrans. I really like their slow, plodding reliance on heavy armor and weapons, but on the other hand their ruling family is a bunch of assholes. My vote is for the Awesome. It’s weird looking, I think, but I want to see more of it.
It is! Other 35-40 tonners (Whitworth aside) either put their weight into faster engines, jump jets, both of the above, or weapons that weigh a lot when you include the ammo. The large laser is a great compromise in smaller mechs, imo.
after a marathon day on BattleTech because of this quarantine I must vote for ''A'' the Awesome with its PPc loadout the mech is Dangerous to just about anything it meets.
Shit, the Awesome hasn't been done yet? That's honestly rather unfair towards the other two. Talk about a fan-favorite spot-light stealer if there ever was one Gonna vote B for the Corsair, then just for the sake of varity, though I have a feeling it will be a drop in the bucket.
Ah yes the wolfhound.Just slap on the biggest engine you can and you can take on mechs larger than you, if you know how to play.Nothing can beat an urban mech though.
WLF-1 Archtype 'trooper' mech, cost effective, simple armament, and durable for it's weight class.
A: AWS-8Q Awesome.
Appreciate the vote.

One of my all time favorite light mechs! Fast cheap effective all around great light hunter mech and raider.
Couldn't agree more!
I love the Wolfhound!
My vote is "A" the Awesome.

I was surprised myself to find out I hadn't talked about it. But then again, after 50-ish mechs covered, its hard to remember all of them.

Gauss rifle ammunition runs out, PPC don't 😎🤓.
"Fallen" Phelan Kell doesn't count.

Didn't really forget it. Figured I'd cover it someday in another video.

Great episode as always. You covered the Crockett alongside the Chameleon, so I’m going to vote A for Awesome.
Thanks for letting me know. I actually wasn't aware I did the Crockett already, lol.
Great video, and I always loved the wolfhounds design.
Same here!
Awesome!!!! One of my favorite all time mechs
Option A! Because, well, it's AWESOME!
I wish I still had the plastic modeling kits
Love it playing CBT And I vote A FOR Awesome .
Definitely Option A. Thanks for the great vids
Appreciate the vote.
For a light mech, you get a lot punch out of a Wolfhound. And it does match up well against other 35 ton mechs like the panther etc.
It is indeed closer to a medium in firepower and endurance.
I'm familiar with A and C. I have never heard of B I have to say so that's my vote option B. Thank you for your work sir well done.
That's cause the Corsair isn't a canon mech chassis. It was made up by PGI.
I really liked the Wolfhoind, even though the Kell Hounds are pretty loyal it always struck me as odd that they'd let a mercenary unit field test the brand new mech. Option C for next week please
Maybe it was because the mercs are used to thinking outside the box, thus test the mech in additional ways.
Thanks for the vid sir.👍🏼👍🏼. I vote A for AWSOME!
You're very welcome.
C. Crockett cause in Blankenburg we trust ;-)
Awesome!

Thank you.
B Corsair. Probably won't get it, but Corsair has a very interesting background. Only officially known Pirate produced mech, which is an amazing feat.
That's indeed a very interesting aspect. Probably Awesome gonna win but I'll keep an eye on the Corsair.
@@GrimDarkNarrator scratch that, I got the Brigand mixed up with the Corsair.
