Three simple rules: 1. Only buy from businesses that have a reputation to lose if they got caught selling fakes 2. If an offer is too good to be true, it most likely isn't. 3. Anything more than 50% off is a huge red flag cause at that point literally it would be more profitable for another seller to take the whole lot of bottles off the guy's hands to resell them. Once in a while there might be exceptions if a reputed business is shutting down a location and needs to clear its stock. Even in such cases though the customer usually only gets the scraps, while fresh stock which is still in mint condition goes to some sister location of the same business.
you can tell most of the time from the tube thingy in the atomizer. in the real deal it's always very clear almost invisible, super high quality. in the fakes it's thick clear whitish plastic. even in this vid you can see that on the fakes.
Mona S but what if the bottle isn’t transparent but ae like on the one million by PR bc I have just purchased one for a present and I don’t want to embarrass myself so pls pls pls help Ty💕
Mona S but I know exactly what you mean like in Lancôme La vie est belle perfume you almost don’t see it at all and thank you for that tip but what if the bottles aren’t see through?
Buying fragrance from Macy's is the best defense against acquiring fake versions. Every time my husband bought cologne from Perfumania, the smell of it was obviously old or fake! He finally stopped buying from Perfumania.
You missed out on one point..that is if you buy some of the newer batches frags...its highly likely reformulated..thats why people hunt down older batches..which are pre reformulation version.fake and older formulations are not in the same category.but ya dont buy frags from shady shops or websites...esp where prices are too good to be true
Don't buy top brand things at huge discounted prices outside of trusted dealers. If it seems to good to be true. It probably is. You've heard it many times before.
Department stores do not keep fragrances on shelves for longer than a year (plus they're baking under those hot lights), so they're then sold to other retailers. That does not mean a bottle bought on the "gray market" is four years old. The websites that sell them get so much rotation that the average bottle is only a year or two old. And it usually takes three years for a bottle to go bad. That doesn't mean it will if you keep it out of the light and heat. It just depends on the perfume.

You just cannot spot the difference between real and well done fake unless you are using the same fragrance for years or you are in the fragrance business.
I don't think I'll be buying perfume from Ebay anymore after I was sent a fake Versace Bright Crystal perfume. There are some obvious ways to spot a fake one if you look close. The one that I got had a noticeably alcoholic smell, also the scent was barely there, just slightly resembling the original, but lacked depth and other notes were missing when it settled down on my skin. Also it aired out quickly. Another disappointment was the lettering on the glass bottle. I noticed some weird fuzziness inside each letter, and that bothered me, so I wanted to rub it off with my t-shirt (btw, it's a good test), and when I did, one of the letters started shifting down into a crooked position, and that's when I got very suspicious. I was like "why would a high-end company like Versace glue on the letters on their perfume bottles? That's very cheap. If I could take them off, then anyone could. That would ruin their reputation for doing a poor job on their logo." So I started googling fake vs. real Versace Bright Crystal, and found some tips on how to spot a fake. One of the tips was to look at the bottle's cap, which I immediate did. The design on mine was sloppy and unprofessional and was missing details. Also, the lady's face on the cap looked rather sad/angry vs. the one on the original cap. So, that's how I knew. I immediately contacted the seller, complaining about sending me a fake perfume and for a refund, and they refunded me the money without asking for their product to be shipped back to them. Duh, they would know. I suggest, make your research about the seller from which you plan to purchase and read customer feedback. Also, if they sell an $80 product for $20-$30, it's too good to be true and you better stay away!
lol no I agree! was pretty much just thinking out loud. I'm actually Syrian and I still live in a war zone. so it's just me wondering why would I click on a video like that. lol I stopped for a second there when it ended and just laughed so hard at myself
:)) yeah, I get it, I feel the same sometimes watching YT videos, like what the he..l, why I am wasting my time, but this one, Doctors its quite informative, all the best to you
I'm laughing here as an obsessive frag head that owns dozens of vintage fragrances. PERFUMES HAVE NO SHELF LIFE IF STORED PROPERLY *eye roll* You WANT the older formulations. Modern day fragrances are watered down regulated reformulated weakened CRAP! Study IFRA regulations. The older the better. Otherwise yes many fakes out there too. You have to avoid the authentic reformulations AND the fakes. It's quite a skill to be able to find the best formulations out there.
I don't believe there are bunches of *fakes* out there. What you are chancing with discounts is that they are older or not stored properly. Also, a perfumes formulation gets changed every few years on average. If you are comparing a newer formulation against an older formulation, they may be highly different. I also believe perfume manufacturer's have "seconds" they might sell to the gray market. Something was a little off on the printing or formulation of a particular batch run.
Basically the solution is to buy them in department store aka places that are allowed and certified to sell them. If you're looking at them in a garage sale or on Facebook marketplace you're probably not getting the real thing or you're buying an old damaged perfume.
My nose is almost as sharp as dog's nose, I can tell the difference between the fake and real one just by smelling them. I don't need to see the differences in packaging, stamp, whatsoever. My nose is more accurate. I wish where I live there was a job as a smell tester, I'd be good at it. :-)
That just defeats the purpose of a fragrance. That is not how to apply perfume, eau de toilotte, or cologne. You want the scent to radiate not smell pheromones of sweat.
Just don't buy your stuff on the street or from people you don't know enough about on Ebay and other outlets. Buy at only places you trust or with a good reputation.
I bought 2 fan de fendi perfume. One has a suble depth of the notes in it. The other one doesnt have that but smells similiar. I dont know if you can tell unless you have both bottles in front of you.
Hey, i came across perfumes recently @ Costco and i have been a bit apprehensive. I know Costco can't possibly sell fakes in name of original but when i posted at a group about the reasons for low price, an employee from a marketing company advised these are perfumes which have been returned or on shelf for a long time 😗. So i am confused now.
That's why I don't wear cheap perfume. I either get it made from scratch with the oils I choose myself or just pick from a select few designer products.
Everyone is saying not to buy online, but I have visited a few of the outlets in my country, all were out of stocks :'), I can only buy from the official website, but it doesn't ship to my country :')
Propaganda. I have been in fragrance diversion for nearly 15 years and the goods that one buys as a CVS, Perfumania, or Target are no older than the goods in department stores, especially if they are the moving sellers. The "Planogram items" don't change often and what sells, sells. It's not just sitting and collecting dust for years.
I bought 3.3oz Elizabeth and James Nirvana Rose from Amazon. Turned out to be a fake. The smell is way off. Smells more like alcohol with the light scent smell. That fragrance is hard to find now which is why I got it on Amazon. Won’t buy another perfume there ever.
Yeah, my doctor always warned me about fake perfume and cancer. Thanks for helping the "Industry" make hundreds from pennies and turn $1 million investment into $100 million with just a mil and a name. Why do all the celebs want in on this racket???

Question 1: Can a cheap perfume (e.g. Charlie White by Revlon) be fake? Or only expensive designer perfumes can be fake? Question 2: Can perfume smell a little different if it was made in different countries? Can authentic perfume be produced in several different countries at all? For example, I've seen Hugo Boss Hugo Woman perfume made in the UK, but I've also seen the one made in the USA. Are they both authentic? Question 3: If perfume's color is darker than it's supposed to be, does it mean it's fake or it means it's gone bad?
elena79rus cheap perfumes can be fake as well. I’m not sure about the different countries thing. Perfumes that change color usually have vanilla in it. Even lotions or other products can discolor from vanilla because vanilla just happens to turn brown over time. It still smells good. If anything that means it has true vanilla extracts or good oils in it.
Don't buy top named perfumes at a flea market at great marked down prices. Or even at top end prices. Just go get those perfumes at respected stores or websites. Theirs a 90% chance it's not the real deal at a flea market, barber shop or corner market.
if you buy from the mall you get the real stuff, so I don't buy form other sources, I've had problems with cheap perfumes, sore throat, eyes stinging etc, even going through the mall where perfumes are me and my son can get lightheaded and not feel well. Can't go through the soap section of the grocery store, because those same fragrances are at work. I bought a dryer sheet at a discount store, it was from mexico and I swear it was in my basement in my small apt, when I got home, the first thing I smell was that, it came up the heater registers, I had to get rid of it. I'm very particular of what I put on my body because we just can't handle many things. The FDA and EPA they allow many chemicals to be released to the industry that uses them and it's a shame. Even those plug ins make us sick, sometimes a baby crawling never gets rid of the cold, because mom put a plug in to mask the diaper smell. Be aware and use less. It does wreck havoc on hormones and probably pregnant women risk damaging the baby. This is an industry that makes tons of money so it's not like we can force the gov to do more studies, you just have to be proactive.

There's a local perfume store like that in my town. I did not feel bad. I know my perfumes. I know how to spot fakes. The devil is in the detail of things. She's absolutely correct about the inside of the box. How the stem fits. Where the name is put how it's centered. The crepe and fold of the box. As well, your batch numbers. I purposely picked out perfumes that I have. Looked at them looked at the boxes. Every one of them. Had him pull out eight different ones. He asked me, which one would you like all of them? I said sorry I can't shop here. If you women turn their heads and looked at me one fella asks and why not? I said I'm sorry but these are counterfeit. Every single one of them was a counterfeit. Nope no thanks and I walked out. So did everyone else. Good I'm glad they saved their money.
That’s why I’ve never trusted perfume stores. I always thought they were probably counterfeit. I just so happened to walk by one this week when I saw the Michael Kors Gorgeous brand that I’d just smelled loved in Belk’s. It was the exact same price as the one in the department store. Why would I spend the same at a knock-off store when I can spend my money getting the real thing? They all seem to be cheaters.
Not really. Drug stores usually have real fragrances they're just old cause nobody buys them. I would never get any fragrance from a flee market. Way too many fakes of everything there. Small stores it all depends, find reviews before you buy from them.

I have purchased two fragrances from my job. I work at a drugstore myself!!! Are they safe to use????? Someone please tell me!!!! I'm very concerned!!!!
People have to bathe or shower before applying colognes or perfume to the body.they need to have classes like personal hygiene in the schools and the colleges.
I came here because I was pissed off! because the perfume I bought was fake, branded Hollister, I bought it at a Sasa store in hong, it just smells of alcohol. They are truly terrible!
What was the answer again?? Oh wait, wait, I know, i know! The little daisy in the corner was crooked! Dam, I should have known that! Anyone know what the chemical was in the fakes that is harmful and carcinogenic?
Interesting, I bought my friend a Daisy perfume at Walgreens because i forgot her bday. I dont buy them there for myself because I want samples/points/rewards for my purchases. It was an emergency but I won’t do it again. I thought it would be safe, just old
Adjust had some forced on me market in turkey they really are disgusting way pushed on you just get rid of him spent ten euros use stuff as cleaner very easy to spot fake when box open
It's not funny the way they take it on this show. It is a serious problem, the world is full of fake perfumes and people are losing money and people's health is affected.
Well just before buying check twice 😅 cuz well i just got lanvin perfume and yeah i got even real one but it's empty and yeah 😅 it literally speaks fake but it's fine anyways
If that’s the case, that it has chemicals that so harmful to people why is it so open to the public and our authorities didnt do anything about it , instead theyre consumers of this products. How about the aunthentic perfume testers are those fake also ? Maybe the reason why she seems “yelling” while saying her thoughts not because of that harmful, carcinogenic o etcc.. but because of the brilliant minds of those perfumers that they can create a replica in a low price to those too expensive perfume. A wake up call for those expensive brands that those expensive scent can be copied by an ordinary brand and maybe this will affect their business income that is why they give this... blah blah according to laboratory tested of carcinogenic material infact even healthy individual had Cancer.. cause there no specific cause that can lead to CA all are just predispose to such. Just saying that if you are healthy, you eathealthy you are 100 % sure free from diseases or CAncer? Definitely not
It's hard because people want to deal is best if you're going to spend good money to go into a store to buy a perfume knowing that if there's a problem you can return and get a refund hopefully cash refund rocket credit card and when you're on
So I can’t spot fakes until after they have my money or after I’ve sprayed urine and aluminum on myself. Sweet, great video
😂 me too
Ayoo chill😭😂

Spoting them is very difficult. Buy from department stores because they are reputable. Outlets can stock fakes too.

Only buy perfumes from reputable retailers or famous shopping malls not from the street!

Naji Kerio testers are authentic
usually when it's different colors, it's watered down.

If its too good to be true, it IS! Avoid Ebay. So many fakes on there! Just pay retail and get the real stuff.
And when perfume gets discontinued?
That's why I buy my axe from the official store, Walgreens baby..!!
Chanel has never been on the gray market. I fucking wish it was. Just got a fake spicebomb and holy hell is it legit looking

Not really. Drug stores usually have real fragrances they're just old cause nobody buys them. I would never get any fragrance from a flee market. Way too many fakes of everything there. Small stores it all depends, find reviews before you buy from them.
That's why if it ain't from the main store, it's from boots

Arabian shopping zone sent me a fake perfume, don't give them business.
ZERO% INFORMATION
100 % USELESS TALKS
I've bought from Fragrancex and fragrancenet and I have never received a fake...
I’ve bought from them too, but I wouldn’t know how to spot it if it were fake....
Where do you put in the batch code? On the manufacturer site or where?🧐
Pls help & I appreciate it 💗
I just know that there is fake and real fragrances...
This is the only informations I got
The way they are using the terms perfumes and colognes let's me know...this video is useless
People have to bathe or shower before applying colognes or perfume to the body.they need to have classes like personal hygiene in the schools and the colleges.
how do I spot a fake 100ml refill bottle ????
I still love my Versace from Marshall's and TJ Maxxs
In Marshall's and TJ Maxx perfumes are 100% authentic.
Those are old perfumes most are expired by years
0:29 who is this model?
Pointless. Didnt really state how to spot the fakes just blabbed on about their opinions
Very informative video.
Heavy metals like aluminum? I mean c'mon... You must do better than that
Interesting, I bought my friend a Daisy perfume at Walgreens because i forgot her bday. I dont buy them there for myself because I want samples/points/rewards for my purchases. It was an emergency but I won’t do it again. I thought it would be safe, just old
🕳 old perfumes are fine, as long as they are unopened and stored properly then they will most likely last.
What about fragrances that are inspired by the department store fragrances?

People are just doing it because they really need the money.
Can someone please recommend me good seller for fake fragnances? Thanks in advance 👌👌👌
these woman is also fake. shes anxious while talking.
It's not funny the way they take it on this show. It is a serious problem, the world is full of fake perfumes and people are losing money and people's health is affected.
One time I bought Clinique happy Perfume at online shopping it smells fake and I thought it's affordable damn
Omg I love Clinique happy!!! I think Sephora online has it
I saw Calvin Klein perfume at Walmart
Well just before buying check twice 😅 cuz well i just got lanvin perfume and yeah i got even real one but it's empty and yeah 😅 it literally speaks fake but it's fine anyways
Don't use perfume en your skin! Use it on your clothes!!!
That's what i do..
Why? Mind elaborating?
If you buy things of wish I'd say they were 100% legit 🙈🙈🤭

It's hard because people want to deal is best if you're going to spend good money to go into a store to buy a perfume knowing that if there's a problem you can return and get a refund hopefully cash refund rocket credit card and when you're on
Me too
As long as it smells the same 🤷🏿♀️
Yeah, but the price isnt equal to a fake... That's the problem...
Nah!
Wow 😱
