Not licensed but I got one of these for a couple of reasons; being able to receive the local airport’s UHF relay and airband frequencies on one radio. And being able to dual watch one of the above with the fm radio going.
Looks like I've gone in reverse order to you Will. I picked up my first radio, the UV-K5 a couple months ago and now the UV-5RH should be here next week. Your videos definitely helped in my decision making there, decided I'd just go for the simpler tri-band model as opposed to the BF. The Quansheng's AM is good enough for my naive ears. All the best mate, cheers!
@@bigwill4423 Hey Will, just wanted to give you my first impressions of the UV-5RH (tri-band), the receive appears to be lacking compared to the K5. I'm struggling to pick up local repeaters, ones that come in quite clearer on the Quansheng and a decent antenna. If you have any tips, please let me know. The novelty of now having 2 radios and being able to play walkie talkie hasn't worn off. The shopping list has now grown to 8 radios and various other paraphernalia, we'll get there in due time... Good on ya Big Will, take care!
@@christopherf7254 .....maybe try a better antenna Christopher. The Nagoya 771 is pretty good. Yep, my collection of radios is ever growing, it's addictive lol 😲😁😜
I absolutely hate how the volume knob sticks out so far to the side, won't fit in holsters easily and always catches on things. No AA battery packs for the quanshengs either.
Thanks for this - but the newest firmware out makes the Airband chrystal clear, i just ordered the Plus model - 73 from Sweden, Levi

Can the UVK5R Plus firmware be upgraded as well?
Yes, the all can have upgraded firmware.

..depends on your internet connection my friend as the update is internet based. 👍😎
£15.00 inclusive of UK duty and VAT?? Certainly not!
hiking I want the USB C I can plug in my solar power bank as I hike and keep that and my phone topped up. I wouldn't purchase the new one.
Yes, it's an important feature. Really surprised they left it out on the latest model! 🤔
Fung and Shung not Fang and Shang.
.....I'll take that on board....mind you, if you can understand my Ulster accent at all you're doing pretty well! Lol 😲😁😜
You are a good speaker and easily understood.
@@ominkan3129 ....thank you my friend! 👍
