New Onan Generator won't stay running, try this fix.

Brand new Onan 5500 generator wouldn't stay running. it'd run for a minute or two, then start spitting and sputtering like it was starving for fuel. I saw some videos about having too much oil in it from the factory. This trick fixed my problem. #generator #generatormaintenance #generatorepairing #generatorservice #generators

My Onan generator has run fine for years with the oil that full. That is the level after changing oil and putting in the recommended amount.
However generator should never run without the cover on it. Because it doesn’t get proper cooling.

We had the same problem with the generator on our 22 Valor toyhauler a while back. Would only run a few minutes at a time. Dropping the oil level worked for us as well.
