    We checked into Wyndham Anaheim two weeks ago for our first ever vacation to Disneyland and Southern California.
    Wyndham is everything you showed in your videos, and we really enjoyed it!!
    The distance between the parks and hotels is so different than WDW. For a newbie, it's unbelievable, so I really appreciate the information.
    Wyndham Anaheim ticked a lot of boxes for us too:
    An actual hotel (indoor hallways)
    Starbucks in the lobby
    Coffee maker in room and coffee provided by hotel
    Mini fridge
    Microwave
    Walkable to DL & DCA
    Reasonable price
    Secure (basement level with a gate) Parking included in price (we thought might fill up because it's only about 20 spaces but there were always a few spaces open every day of our stay - making parking easy!)
    WiFi included in price
    Pool and hot tub, outside
    The fourth floor was quiet for us the whole week.
    Beds were comfortable
    We watched Disney fireworks from the side of our window at night.
    Great stay!
    Ozzie and all the staff are great, just like you said. For breakfast, they recommended Hotel Indigo next door and might have said it has the same management. We enjoyed Chambers's breakfast so much we went back. The staff there are also very friendly. Their pool has a cute cabana. If Wyndham Anaheim didn't work out for some reason, Hotel Indigo would be a great choice. And you've given several other great choices in your video.
    Thanks again for the videos!!

    This is so helpful - thanks for putting it together! I'm also kind of shocked at the variance of parking. I wouldve guessed all parking would be like $30-60/night, but I guess that's my "big city" bias showing hahah. Whenever I get out to DLR I will certainly have questions for you. It looks like one of my friends is going to have a west coast wedding reception in early 2022 so I'm considering trying to tack a DLR stay on to that trip...!

    • @AnaheimParkTourist
      @AnaheimParkTourist  3 роки тому +1

      Parking is all over the place around DLR. Lots of places are settling around $20-$25 a night and the most expensive that we are aware of is the JW Marriott at $40. Parking in SF is very expensive and make Anaheim look like a bargain. I wish the daily rate was inclusive of all resort/parking fees, it makes comparing hotels so much easier. If you do head out this way we will help you out any way that we can. Thank you for watching!

    We had a lot of problems at the Grand Legacy that would stop us from ever staying there again. The noise in the front building is an issue, but even worse were the drunk people in the elevator in that building (due to the bar on the top floor). Not a family atmostphere.

    I've stayed at the Fairfield Inn twice. Its a very basic motel. The rooms are small and white, the beds are fine, the tv is huge (in the rooms I've stayed in), depending where you are put, you get a great view of the fireworks, or you get a view of construction. It has a Pizza Hut. Its a very 'neither here nor there' place. Its fine.

      We have not stayed again, mainly due to the super expensive rates they have had since Disneyland reopened. We always check and it’s usually quite a bit more money than other hotels within walking distance. We do know they have a loyal following of guests who love to stay at the Fairfield Inn. We also think it’s really enticing for Marriott members who can use points and be so close to the parks. Thank you so much for watching! ☺️

      The element is right next door to the Sun Coast! We tried staying in it multiple times but it was always closed. It is brand new and recently opened and should be a nice place to stay in. The area where it is located is nice but tucked a little bit out of the way. You are a close walk to the Garden Walk and the JW is right down the street. If you are into rooftop bars, they have a decent rooftop bar but the appetizers are small and expensive. It is about a 16-20 minute walk to the parks. We do have a walking video from the Suncoast. • @AnaheimParkTourist
      @AnaheimParkTourist  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you so much. We have been wanting to stay at the Element but it has been a bit expensive (since we stay in so many hotels) and will look to be staying there in the winter. The Element is a brand new hotel that just opened in July. A subscriber of ours did a very thorough tour of the hotel and is video is here: ua-cam.com/video/RYiuF9U1FDw/v-deo.html
      We have been wanting to check out The Clementine but the reviews haven't been great. There was a stabbing in the parking lot earlier this year, although it isn't clear if the victim was staying at the hotel. We have decided to postpone staying here until the reviews turn around and trend in a more positive direction.
      If the two hotels are similar in price, I would pick the Element over the Clementine since it is a brand new hotel. Your overall experience "should" be better since the facility is brand new.
      Another property to look at that is brand new is Home 2 Suites, it is going be slightly closer than the other two hotels mentioned. It is located on Manchester behind the Courtyard Marriott and Fairfield Inn. We haven't stayed here yet, we are going to be staying at the sister property next door, which is the Hilton Garden Inn.
      I hope this helps a bit! We have stayed at a lot of the properties in the area but not all. Our goal is to stay at most of the hotels in the area. If you have more questions, please feel free to ask.

    You have to really be careful when selecting a Hotel in Anaheim, the city itself is a high crime city full of homeless people. It took me a week to decide on a Hotel. Very few of the so called good neighbor hotels are decent. I really paid attention to the reviews that talked about cleanliness of the hotel and bugs and exorbitant hotel fees and parking issues. I was narrowed down to the Wyndham Anaheim Hotel, Howard Johnson by Wyndham, and the Element Hotel. I chose the Wyndham, glad I did, it's clean, friendly staff, secure free parking, walking distance to the Toy Story parking lot for the shuttle bus. The Element was in a secluded location. The Wyndham is next to the Garden Walk. Still have to be aware of your surroundings, as vagrants are up and down the street. Hotel Indigo would have been another option. Coming from Temecula I just didn't want to make the drive. There are better options in the city of Irvine and Orange but then you would have to drive and park at the Disney parking lots. I really enjoyed the video it helped me with my research. Some of the other UA-cam videos would say how wonderful the Hotel was even if it was not. Appreciated your honesty.

    • @AnaheimParkTourist
      @AnaheimParkTourist  2 роки тому +2

      We commonly stay in Orange due to cheaper costs and factor our rideshare fees into the total expense of a hotel. You can save some money by doing this and the hotels tend to be quieter than the hotels surrounding Disneyland. We will eventually cover more hotels in the outlying areas over time. However, you do feel like you are out of the Disneyland action.
      Safety is also very important to us. We always encourage people to look at recent reviews of hotels and look at the trends when looking at reviews. For example, we were going to book at one bargain hotel but there have been lots of complaints about bugs and theft in the rooms. We decided to pass on this hotel. When out and about it is always good to be aware of your surroundings for personal safety.
      We always try to give pros and cons. We don't want to give reviews because what we like may not be something another person might like. We feel if we can give all the information; people can determine if they like the place on their own. As always we don't mind answering questions and helping people out.
      Thank you,
      -Jim

    • @AnaheimParkTourist
      @AnaheimParkTourist  3 роки тому +1

      We stayed in a room that faces the pool and did not notice any road noise. The room type was the Disney Fireworks view. We have seen other videos on the Suncoast, where the creator stayed in a room that faces the highway, and they stated the road noise was negligible.
      The windows were surprisingly good at keeping out sound. We were concerned about facing the pool and the pool being opened until midnight. We did not have any noise issues.
      There are a lot of cars in the area with super loud exhaust. Unfortunately, I think no matter what hotel you stay at, you will still hear these cars. When we stayed at the JW Marriott, it was quiet, but you still heard the cars with loud exhaust. It was muted but still very obvious a car was driving by.
      Neither of us remember an overwhelming amount of road noise when stepping out of the hotel. I reviewed some unedited video outside of the hotel and there is low rumble but it is not terrible. WI am more than happy to share a clip or two if you want.
      I hope this helps you make a decision. The brand name hotels have done a decent job on sound proofing but nothing is perfect. Thank you for watching

    Love your channel and the concise, genuine way you present your content! Wondering if you know anything about the Anaheim Islander Inn and Suites?
    Our family of 7 visited DL seven years ago and hope to return next year. Last time, we stayed at the Best Western Raffles and were pleased. This time around, I stumbled upon the Islander which is closer to Disney, comparable $$ and can also fit us all in one room.

    • @AnaheimParkTourist
      @AnaheimParkTourist  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you so much. We try to be neutral and just give everyone the information they need to help make a decision. Everyone has different expectations when staying at a hotel and that is why we try to be neutral and give all of the information about our stays.
      We personally have not stayed at Anaheim Islander. We were going to book a stay there in the fall but have been a bit more hesitant after talking to a friend. Our friend who stayed there in the fall of 2019 claims he got bed bugs from there. He ended up getting an infestation at his house after returning from a trip. It was a complete nightmare to get rid of them. The reason why I use the word "claim", I cannot personally confirm if he got them from the hotel. So take that information at face value. You can get bed bugs from any hotel and that is why it is important to check the room thoroughly before bringing your luggage in. We check every room we stay in. The recent Trip Advisor reviews are good. I am not trying to bad mouth the hotel, but in good conscious I need to mention the issue he had.
      Some other alternatives to look at is Hotel 414 but this is further out. We are staying there in October and should have a video out in that time frame. Kings Inn seems to be a decent place to stay for the price range, reviews are generally good. I am making a solo trip mid-October and considering staying here. We also have a friend that stays at American's Best Value Inn and he likes it. The latter two hotels are across the street from the Islander. Finally, I was looking at staying at Little Boy Blue and the recent reviews are awful.

    I've stayed at all most all of these hotels, I'm currently looking for a room for a trip coming up, it's always a challenge what hotel will I pick that has good parking and a clean room. Lol

      We filmed this back when there were only a few places open. We have very similar struggles For us it always comes down to cleanliness, price, and parking. Crystal owns a classic car (from high school), she is very particular about her cars and parking. She prefers places with wider parking spots to prevent door dings or other damage. We actually made a home made door ding protector out of a pool noodle. It is hokey, but it works, and if it stolen we are only out 3 dollars.
      We were just at Disneyland on July 10th and most of the hotel parking lots were packed. We stayed at Castle Inn, and we had to park in the registration only parking because the lot was at capacity. When walking to Disneyland, it looked like everyone's lot was full.
      If you need need some help deciding on a room, let us know. We have stayed at every place on Harbor (even though we don't have it all filmed.). Thanks for watching and commenting. -Jim

      @@AnaheimParkTourist thanks for the info, I have 2 trips planned in September, fist trip staying at the Wyndham for one night,parking at Mickey and Friends parking for the daynthen back home to Joshua Tree CA, then planning a longer trip at the end of the month , Thinking about Howard Johnson or Best Western plus. Have you ever stayed at the Knights Inn? It's a budget Motel

      If M&F is difficult to park at look at Toy Story. I parked there last weekend and it was pretty easy. To be fair, we moved our car around 5pm and didn't have to deal with catching the shuttle at closing times.
      I do like Howard Johnson the best on Harbor. If the price is within budget we always try to stay there. We haven't stayed at the newer courtyard because it is really pricy. BW Plus Anaheim Inn was a great stay andI have no complaints there. They are offering a free grab and go or hot breakfast at this time. Hojo has no parking or resort fees and the BW+ Anaheim Inn only has a $5 resort fee. Of course, a hotel should be quieter than a motel.
      Neither of us has stayed at the Knights Inn and can't comment on the motel. If you are looking for a budget motel on Harbor, look at Castle Inn or Desert Inn. We don't have video of Desert Inn but have had good stays there. Castle Inn gets a bit noisy when the parks close but isn't bad afterwards.

    Do any of these Hotels offer Shuttles to the park?

    • @AnaheimParkTourist
      @AnaheimParkTourist  2 роки тому

      The only two hotels in Anaheim that have dedicated shuttles are the Candy Cane (currently closed due to a major renovation) and Anaheim Majestic. The remainder of the hotels use Anaheim Resort Transit. If you stay in Orange, they might have a dedicated shuttle, but you will need to call. Pre-pandemic a few of the hotels in Orange did have shuttles. We do cover transportation options in this video here: ua-cam.com/video/G3wpkq8cScc/v-deo.html
      All of the hotels that we did mention in this video are walkable (except for Homewood), if staying there you can walk next door to the Toy Story Lot and board a Toy Story shuttle free of charge. Toy Story is a Disneyland Resort parking lot. Additionally, you can do the same if staying at a Convention Center area hotel. If you have more questions feel free to ask.

    desert palms ????

      This video was made when most of the hotels around Disney were still closed. We have never stayed at Desert Palms, we have looked at it many times but has been cost prohibitive. They do have large rooms with full kitchens and its not too far from the parks.

    Unfortunately all of those hotels at the intersection of katella and harbor is the city and the county putting up the homeless and other people in those hotels trying to make some sort of money since tourists aren't. And unfortunately just as you said it brings in a very shady element you were very wise to not stay there the night and leave as your car would have absolutely been broken into. Unfortunately you can take these people out of the slums put them up in a nice hotel but you can't take the slum out of the people and they can't appreciate what's been given to them for free. my advice to anybody that might be coming down and getting a hotel room for touch of Disney make sure to ask when you're making the reservations are they putting up locals that are homeless.?

      That is interesting. Where we live we have a similar issue with a particular hotel. The hotel lowered their nightly rate to $50, normally its $130-$200. They have nothing but problems now.
      We actually were going to recommend calling the hotel to see if there have been issues with noise or incidents that happened similar to the Cambria last year. We just aren't sure the front desk will be 100% forthcoming. What w avoid further issues was to look at recent trip advisor reviews. People did complain about noise or other issues.
      To be fair, we went over to Walgreens on our last trip and it seemed like both those corners (CVS) have been cleaned up a bit.
      Thank you for watching and commenting.
