  • The Mosin Nagant is an incredible, battle proven rifle. It has proven itself time and time again in both world wars. The Mosin Nagant is a simple, reliable and rugged rifle. The bolt on this piece is no different. Stripping a Mosin Nagant bolt is incredibly easy and is easily done with no tools!

    Just bought one of these from my local gun store. However, it was in battle worn condition and rusting all over. Thanks for showing us how to take it apart for cleaning! Best one out there.

      I lucked into a battle worn, or stumbled into one I guess. Glad I didn't shoot a round,before checking bore. Looked like a hamster nested in it. Fouled beyond belief. Might have pulled a piece of a tooth out of it so far.

    You should mention how to take out the bolt, out, not everyone knows to pull the trigger while pulling the bolt to release it.
    Nice touch 3 steps to remove the firing pin, very cool press against a soft surface and unscrew from the top, too easy, nice
    The video was well done and informative.

    So I'm assuming it will reasonably go back together without the firing pin? I'm looking to test the headspace but I only have live cartridges. So if possible I'd like to just remove the firing pin and carefully chamber a round with the gage

  • @TrashPanda5150
    @TrashPanda5150 4 роки тому +1

    I know this vid is really old but for future viewers. I personally wouldn't recommend using the guide rod as a tool to remove/install the firing pin and spring. If you don't have the proper tool made for it, you can get one of those little ignition wrenches, or a small crescent wrench, anything but a part of the bolt. It's a tough chunk of metal but with so many other ways to do it, why risk spreading the end of that guide rod?

    There are too many people who don’t know how to properly disassemble and maintain their rifles, too many grandpas who only bring it out to shoot a deer and never think about it, too many people who carry daily and rarely inspect or clean their firearms. Anyone who owns a firearm should adopt the militaristic mindset of taking care of your rifle (or handgun, shotgun, etc) and truly learn how it works and how to maintain the beautiful machine it is. I own a mosin and when I got it I found it too risky to try and completely disassemble the bolt so I only took off the bolt face and guide rail, this video was long overdue.
