    On the two wire power plugs.
    It's my opinion that not only is it important to make the red wire the + also ensure the hot terminal is the covered female. So when it's not plugged in it's still protected and is less likely to short out. Thanks for all you do. We love the videos.

    Great job! A power source is mission essential kit when you're out for the day or longer. Buck's Island isn't going to want to sell this beauty by the time you're done with it!

    Great, clean install! I’m still debating how many holes I want to drill in my new one, but I definitely want to add one of these and a few lights. Top notch again, sir.

    I added a couple of on/off switches which allow power to the panel and a different switch to allow for charging the battery in the forward compartment. Unfortunately, I missed waterproofing a connection somewhere and the system fails on saltwater 😥. Going to have to pull every splice to figure out where the problem is 🙄

    A question that always pops up in my mind on these electrics is how waterproof these (usb) adapters are when a cable is plugged in. And how to get a waterproof connection to the action/360 cameras and cellphone.

    Great video. When you charge your battery block, do you open the lid or leave everything in? Last time I accidentally shorted the charging terminals with the box closed, it tripped the fuse and ignited the hydrogen bomb, the box was shattered, and pieces flew everywhere. Just saying, be careful handling this type of things.

    Hey TJ. I’m curious about the retaining nuts on the back side of the plug mounting plate. How do you install that entire assembly with the retaining nuts without a huge gap between the mounting plate and kayak wall?
    I’m thinking about using this same option on my pelican catch classic 100 so I can run some electronics.
    Love your channel brother. I keep learning new stuff with every video you put up.

    un related. i want to set up my Jackson Tripper for some over night camping so i want to put in a few stainless steel pad eyes. my question is would screws or pop rivets be best or go ahead and put bolt and nylon nuts?

    so it appears you are relying on the silicone to hold the ports in place cause you didn't use the locking rings. What will stop them from spinning?

    • @KayakUSA1
      @KayakUSA1  3 роки тому +1

      No the silicone is just a sealer, I drilled the holes to the exact size of the ports and they thread into the kayak. 👍🏼

    • @cliffart7398
      @cliffart7398 3 роки тому

      @@KayakUSA1 good to know, I was wondering how you get the rings on in the first place. I added the bixpy to my Hobie PA 360 and its battery has USB ports on it, but I want to add some additional electric components, such as mor lighting and nav lights eventually. right now I don't use it in the dark. but I have watched a loyt of your videos for ideas.

    I’m looking at installing this on my new kayak. Did you use the nuts that hold the ports in place or just leave them off? I can’t reach the spot inside the hull where I want to mount it so I was wondering if they stay in place without the nut on the back. Thanks.

    • @KayakUSA1
      @KayakUSA1  2 роки тому

      I use the nuts but if you drill the hole right you can thread them it without using the nuts. 👍🏼

    Hey boss, quick question. what batteries would you recommend for a kayak power box? I purchased a premade box from a local kayak shop here in North AL and all I need is batteries. Shopping for them can get overwhelming fast!
    Great content btw!

  • @amals51

    TJ. Nice clean work. I have a question about the SAE connecter. I have an elite ti2 9” I want to connect to a Dakota lithium battery. Can I use the SAE connecter for this purpose? Obviously I will splice in the inline fuse just want to know if this type of connecter will work for this type application. Thanks in advance for any info!

      Thanks! Can you recommend any type of through hull port I can use to mount the SAE lead from the battery, since I will need to put it in a water tight box, I’d like to be able to just plug into the side of the box...
