I accidentally figured out how to copy patterns in the program, rather than saving and hunting down the patterns folder. This tutorial was incredibly useful, thank you!
you prolly dont care at all but does any of you know a tool to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the login password. I love any help you can give me!
@Ivan Issac thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
This was super helpful, but not in the intended way. I was making weapon skins for a game called Team Fortress 2, and I had a texture that I wanted to make repeatable. Basically, I offset it by height and width, and then I could see all the seams and how it didn't fit together properly. Then, I used the heal tool to make it seem as if it connected properly and it helped a ton, then I just offset it once again to sort of fit it back together. Hopefully this made sense :)
Lower right of your screen you have Brushes/Gradients/Patterns. My gimp does not already haver these open. How to I add the Pattern selector like you have?
i have a question, why does mine say "this operation has no editable properties". is there something wrong with my gimp or my image?please, i need to know your opinion.
Really usefull tutorial. So easy now to make a pattern and to test to see how it looks using the image from the clipboard. Appreciated also the small tips regarding shortcuts from keyboards.
I followed your video instructions, but cannot seem to load my pattern to gimp pattern folder after exporting. When I tried to just create a pattern quickly using copy visible and paste, it doesn't do a pattern, just the little part I saved. What am I doing wrong? Please help!
This only works if you have 1 centered image and want to create repeating backgrounds on the four corners. It does't work to repeat an image seamless (not for me) and if you can explain why - I would love to know!
Very informative. Thanks for sharing. I have been creating designs to etch into metal for some time, but don't understand most of the GIMP features. I've been doing it the hard way, which is by copying and pasting the elements and lining them up with the grid. I need to watch more of your videos to learn about layers and the offset tool, which I haven't used. I love creating patterns so much I have considered selling them on Spoonflower. I'm curious to your opinion of using Inskape vs. GIMP for surface pattern design. It seems like images created in Inkscape would scale better and not get so pixilated if using on multiple size products.
Ok, nice one ! But i REALLY hope you show us someday, how or IF, gimp can create transparent images, that can distort what's on the backround.... what i really wanna do is to create "heat distortion effect". .. obviewsly i don't know how to do this with code. Am not a programer. Is this possible ?
Straightfoward, to the point and as clear as possible
Just want to say thanks. Your video are very helpful. This is huge for me reaching out and commenting. I never said thanks to everyone yet on UA-cam.

Great tutorial. Finally someone who takes GIMP to a professional level!
This was mitzvah! saved tons of time aligning things. I could have done it... but would have taken hours! Appreciate it.
Thanks for the straightfoward and clear tutorial! Worked like a charm.
Hi, I'm not sure why when I copy the pattern and set it to pattern fill in a new document it's not coming up in my clipboard.
Excellent tutorial - took me a few tries as new to GIMP plus had to change the language (!) but now I've got it - brilliant thank you!!! :)

@Ivan Issac It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my account!
@Derrick Howard you are welcome xD
For me it does not work when I try make pattern larger than 1000*1000 px(I mean source pattern file), do you know where could the problem be?
Besides the clear explanation, I liked how you told us about the new features in the version.
very nice! the process of resizing the pattern could have an option in the toolbar. But this video helped a lot.
Thank you! This helped me making a watermark for some documents :D

Thank you So much for these clear high quality. free videos.

Windows>Dockable Dialogs>Click on the dialog you want to open
Thanks you for your teaching.
Amazing video. Thank you!
Holy crap! SUPER useful! Thank you for your wizardry knowledge

Mahalo!!! for sharing your wisdom.
Anyone else having issues getting the pattern to fill empty space outside the visible composition like he does at about 10:00 in?
Great explanation. It's clear and informative. Thanks!

i tried doing this but when i used the offset layer, my image didnt apear in the middle, it only was on the left and the right. anyone know why?
You have to duplicate the image first.
Thanks a lot very helpful video.😃👍

I DID IT! I don't have a clue how, but I have my pattern!
Same problem:(

Yes, if you want to resize the results a lot Inkscape should be the better option due to the vector graphics. Something I am heavily missing in Gimp.
Gimp is funny software. I like it very much. Long live the Freedom!
Hey
My image always cut on the edge
when I "transform" and "offset".
what should I need to do?
If u have a cut off, make the “copy layer” non-visible. I was playing around wit my pattern design and found this out. Now there’s no cutoffs💯🤷🏾♂️
Great video!
This was lovely. Thank you so much!
Perfect. Thanks for sharing. :)
Very Nice!!!! You are the man!!!!!!
Thank you ! super usefull!!
thanks a lot!! much respect!!
I've done step by step. Pattern keeps coming out blurry when printed. Anyone know how to fix this. I super frustrated and am wasting money and time..
Thank you so much!
Thank you !
Very helpful!
You are hero
very informative thank you , suggestion converting a b&w photo to color thank you
@RDE Lutherie the processes is known as colorization
i should not have used the word convert i should have used colorize
i'm doing exactly what you are doing. I don't need to scale my image. I am not getting these results. Yes my gimp is up to date...
Good Info
Nice, thumbs UP!
tysm i wanna just kiss you, i have been trying ot make a pattern of my own an this did it, tytyty

Muito bom!!!

Noice!
What did you say? I was looking your eyes!!!!!
I want to like this video but I don't want to ruin the 666 likes.
i decided i hate gimp. 0/10 tutorial tbh. none of this actually works.
it just makes one more in the offset, not a pattern.
Thank you!
