Really good review, much appreciated. I think this is the review that's going to put me over the edge and pick up this camera! Thanks for the awesome quality footage and overview of specs etc.
Good review bro. I already bought this action camera for vlogging. Thank you for the review. But the problem is my phone only capable of 720p import and export using kinemaster pro. So just wondering if can you recommend any budget android phone that can handle 1080p or higher import and export using the kinemaster app? How about the redmi 5 plus? I watched your review on that phone can you rocommend that phone? Or what is the highest resulotion import and export on that phone using kinemaster app? Pls, help me bro. Don't have any laptop so i am looking budget phone or tablet for my editing from my yi 4k footage.
Thank you ur video!!
Just a few questions tho, will yi 4k be laggy or heat up quickly?
Will u recommend yi 4k or hi 4k +?
Thanks in advance!!
Just what I was looking for...thanks for the review, mate!
You are welcome! This is my go-to action camera! Easy recommendation!
Thanks for the review! I ordered it on Amazon just today. I'm hoping to get some good footage out of this camera.
Nice videos, could you please recommend a setting for everyday use on the yi4k
Man, thank you for that informative and high quality video! I just ordered that camera from amazon but then i saw some similar videos like that but in very LOW quality so. Till i saw that video I was sure i made a bad choice. Thanks!!!
Thanks! I still think this is the best 4k action cam for the price! Still using it myself every day!
Usually i don't watch review but you have a clear voice. Great review keep it up!
Thank you!
Great review. I have quite a few Xiaomi products and every one is excellent, I will look forward to testing this as well, Thank you !!
Great review, really helped me decide whether or not I wanted to make the purchase
Hii, I'm Nitesh from India, truly nice video, thanks for perfect information, great review
Thanks for the review! would you happen to know if a 256gb or 516gb microSD card would work on the cam? I know the website says 128gb is max but I think I've seen someone use a larger size before..
Did you mention how the audio is? what are you using for this video's audio input? can you add an external mic? does this download to Imovie?
Hi! I have this camera in my bag but seldom use it, don't know why!! But think I need to start using it again. What gimbal do you recommend for it?
I have a Yi Lite but thinking of getting the YI 4K Action Camera. I have 2 extra Yi Lite batteries. Can the Yi Lite batteries be swapped out with the Yi 4K unit?
Wonderful detailed review. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, in need of some help no matter what I put my Ye 4K in 1080 P or 4K it and I up load it to you tube I can only view it in qualty 480 why is that? Thanks
I have this camera laying around that I was going to use but noticed the mic isn't picking up sound very well. Can these connect to a microphone somehow ?
A few years later and this review is still very helpful, thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Would recommend this over sj cam sj7?
The yi 4k is now at 100.00.
Would you recommend this or the asako v50 pro?
Hello, what Android application are you using for it?
I'd like to buy several more batteries but I can't seem to find the 1200mAh 3.5v AZ16-2 battery. Mine came with a 1200mAH battery but I can I use a 1400mAh also?
Hai dear you suggest personally this for moto v-logging if some body having financial issue to purchase go pro
Interesting video :) Please post more! :)
Hi TechLineHD, I am rarely seeing you doing the smartphone company named BLU, they are making a very budget friendly phone and called BLU Life One X3, they clam it has 5000mAh battery, the price is about $150 to $250, since they are doing a launch sale in Amazon. Will you be available to do a review or a comparison to other budget friendly smartphone that will be great, thx.
Nice review bro! I bought it yesterday! Happy to see I didn’t go wrong!
Thank you very much!
Does the screen still timeout after a minute of recording?
Really good review thank you!
Thank you very much!
what sd card do you prefer to get with this can u link me to it too? :)
ordered it just yesterday cant wait,,,
Does it support external mic?
please add links for photo and video full size samples. I really want to see it.
Nicely done! I think I could use this at work instead of my phone. Our video quality would certainly improve. Question: does it use Wifi to transfer the videos to PC?
Thanks! No, the best way to transfer video files is using the microSD card
Is there any difference in image stabilization between 2.7k and 1080p?
What kind of gimbal you have used
very nice action camera, thanks for a great review
Thank you very much!
Very nice review. Thank you
Thanks!
hello ... can you turn on the wifi without touching the screen ?, What I want is that when turning on the camera also turns on the wifi, is that possible? Thank you
What are your settings?
Can we use external mich on it
Can you make a comparison to the Thieye t5e?
can we use it as dash cam?
What's the deal with it's live video feed? Can you preview what the camera is seeing live?
Awesome review Linus
Thanks, Usman!
Man that's a sweet little camera👍 nice footage too.
indeed! Thanks!
Is there a setting that gets rid of the fisheye effect?
Great footage and editing! Looks like a worthy camera! Peace
Thanks, Scott! Indeed!
I think I might want this action camera, is the durability amazing, meh, or bad? I broke one of my other action cameras because I dropped it from a few feet high. Thank you!
Durability is pretty good. Even though the camera is not built like a tank, I've been using it since the official launch (for more than 2 years or more, can't remember) and it still works fine. Dropped it a few times, it has a few dings and scuffs but nothing major!
Two questions - will the camera shoot PAL at 25FPS or 50FPS and is there provision for external audio in order to connect another mic rather than use the inbuilt? Actually, come to think of it, do you know what actual quality the camera records as its audio? These kinds of things are never mentioned in the adverts, just the top frame rates and resolutions. Cheers. Ian
Ian Craig yes you can shoot in PAL. With external mic i'm not too sure, yi said they were releasing a bluetooth mic but it never came. Audio bitrate is i think 178khz i will have to recheck my files.
Many thanks John.
ANY UPDATE? Are you still using this and if not, what's NEW? and I don't mean GoPro7.
Got one too, love it..what cards you use to shoot 4k?
Awesome! I use the Samsung Evo 128GB. Very good value and performance: amzn.to/2ECPDvP
Thanks Linus!
TechLineHD good price for a good card👍
Thanks for sharing ! :)
Thanks for watching!
I always use that camera nowdays in my videos. It is a great value product.
Does the screen still go black after a minute when recording?
How do u get rid of fisheye
It won me i think i might get this one.
I was wondering, why does video have the fisheye effect? Are there anyways to remove the distortion?
Certainly you can remove the fisheye distortion, very easily in the shooting menu. I use it in the undistorted mode all the time as it's just as sharp and very nearly as wide. In the undistorted mode it's the same as a 17 mm lens on a full frame camera. Wow!
was planning to buy go pro 7, but after watched this vid ill just go for the yi 4k
same!
good option. I have had it for a year, and i recommend you get the yi 4k+ for 60 fps 4k.
Me too bro, let's save money
I want one for my wedding/honeymoon...should I go for it or just stick to my pixel 2 XL camera?
pixel 2 XL camera is definitely better. It's the best on any phone at the moment. However, the YI 4K camera has wide-angle lens and will give you a different angle/perspective
Alexis Mol-Hdz You can get one for $144.00 on Amazon right now with the waterproof case.
It honestly blows my mind everytime I think of the good quality images and video output of this product is when compared to its affordable price.
If this is any indication of the competitive market for affordable action cameras then its no wonder GoPro is bleeding money too..
Can you go live UA-cam with this camera in the app
Yes u can
its still one of the best in 2019! love it
u are right i been using it since i brought it in China in Dec 2016.ony send to serve once for sound recording problem, other that that it good! i dont need 60fps 4k so i didnt buy the 4K+ version .
This is such a good action camera, and the number one reason Yi got my money and the others didn't is because you can film on the undistorted mode, equivalent to a 17 mm on a full frame camera. Now that is wide! It really is a great little camera and on a gimbal it's amazing.
I am blown away about this camera's performance.
I use this camera to get wide shots while using other cameras to record the main action. Overall, it's good for the money, although it's not the sharpest, especially if you post-process the footage to remove the fisheye effect of the lens. My only real gripe with the camera is that in order to get long recording times, you need an external battery pack, and set the file size limit to 4GB. If you use the "max" setting (about 30GB per video file), the camera shuts down after recording the first file and doesn't start a new one.
Alan Tutt Well that's really lame! So how do you get around this? Do you know if the GoPros do this? Thinking of getting the GoPro Hero 2018 or possibly this camera. I'm new to video recording so I started off with the Yi Lite 4K camera.
it doesn't make sense having files over 4 GB. who wants single large files anyway with more than 4 GB? won't mention the copying processes over usb etc...this is an so called "actioncam" so its for people recording situations here and there with lots of movement and action, most of the customers won't record that long. for me its more than enough. if you use 1080p/60fps you will get approx. 11 min. and it will stop and start a new file. very reasonable for file management and if you want, just put the clips together later, they fit perfectly. I own this camera now over a year and used it for filming on 3 vacations. If you don't need more than 1080p, this is the camera for you. so much value for money, GoPro is just overrated with less features and much more expensive.
While it may have been created and marketed as an "action cam", it also works very well as a wide-angle camera for live events, which is how I use it. In this case, recording events an hour or longer, it's a convenience to be able to pop the micro-sd card into a reader and pull the entire clip onto my timeline. Smaller clips are more trouble to edit, which is why I'd prefer to have the full recording as one file.
@@zerotonine807If I want the 1hour video in 1080p, so is it impossible? It creates only shorts around 10 minutes? All time you need register again a new file or it does automatically?
I am using this camera. The best for its price range, and I make great videos with it. Agree with everything you sad in review!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Good
The Yi 4K+ is $169.00 on Amazon right now
Picked mine up on ebay for $80. Steal!!
Can you get rid of the super wife mode
It's not easy. Unless you find the right button.
The 1 thing that SUCKS on this camera, is that the screen turns black after 1 min and you cannot see what you are recording, and there is NO setting to adjust this. Other than that its a good camera.
The screen shuts down to conserve battery. You can turn it on again just by pressing the shutter button, and that will not affect the recording in progress.
actually it does affect it greatly when you are using a gimbal and trying to stabalize it and have to keep hitting the screen or pressing top button while focusing on keeping smoothe video, its a shame they didnt think of a setting for this since they covered everything else great
Yes, it would affect the stability of the camera, but wouldn't stop the recording, which is what I meant.
ya true, just a huge mistake on the part of Yi for forgetting this important setting in the camera, maybe they will fix it in an update
Have you tried using the wifi and phone app as a monitor? That might serve what you're trying to do, as long as it doesn't burn through the battery too quickly.
The only thing that makes this Great channel looks like a stupid channel is the name. TechLineHD. The HD makes 'some' people think you're a stupid kid that use "HD" to make you cooler. Btw the channel is great and underrated.
Thanks a lot! Yeah sometimes I think the same about the HD lol. Maybe change the channel name just to TechLine but many people got used to the name already
TechLineHD keep it mate it's good name if it's what you want then don't worry what other people think 👍it's your channel UA-cam viewers like to pick at anything because they/we can, that's stupid !!!
Funny how action cameras hate trees. The quality on trees seems to smudge at least a little bit on every action camera. Action cameras love the quality on rocks though! Lol
Great point, thanks!
Dude, stop doing drugs
