    • @IronEchoDesign
      @IronEchoDesign  2 роки тому

      Awesome idea. There's a bunch of different ways to approach this. I actually just uploaded a new tutorial on repeating patterns. You could try that technique with scales and when you have your "square" finished choose Object- Pattern- Objects to Pattern. Then you could make any object have the scale pattern as a Fill. Use Edit paths by Node to change the direction or size of the scale pattern when it's on your object as a fill. Hope this helps!

    Great as always. I don't think you needed to enter a -100% shift for Y, as there is only 1 column. It's 50 rows, so only the X shift needs to be -100% as you had it.

I am on version 1.2 and following your instructions but do not have an Alpha option on colour wheel display - there is a strip which says Alpha when I click on it and I set this to zero, but no difference. What am I missing? Thanks for reply re putting pattern into Cricut, still to try out.

    Rick. I am designing a water-slide decal - like you use on a model. We have established the proportionality and now we are at the stage where it is ready to be printed; never did this before. The rectangle body has rounded corners and a stroke of White also with rounded corners. The decal film he is using is White. I need to put a border surrounding the decal so after it is printed it will show the White stroke, but without cutting into the stroke itself. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

    • @IronEchoDesign
      @IronEchoDesign  2 роки тому

      Great question. Is it possible to get a test sample? Either way, you could set the width of the white border to whatever the printer requires by punching in the offset settings if you do it through Path Effects. Or, make the border an object with no stroke underneath the design and offset to the desired amount. Would either of these work?

    • @SO-dl2pv
      @SO-dl2pv 2 роки тому +1

      Yes, after you convert your text to path the result is a "group" of paths, so instead of manually clicking each letter you can simply select the group and ungroup it then combine it. Using shortcuts that means using: Shift + Ctrl + G followed by Ctrl + K

    Ty soo much. I was able to take that Spiral into my Embroidery Software as an emf, and it autodigitized perfectly. I was even able to add connections to all 50 curves, and the beauty of it was that the connections were invisible becasue they were on the the curves. It was perfect! Just wondering....can you figure out how to make a continuous stipple around an image or object? I can send you a pic of what I mean. I have a seamless stipple pattern, many of them, but can't figure out how to get it to flow around an image in Inkscape.

      Hi Lisa! I just played around with the pattern you sent and there is a built in tool in Inkscape that does let you wrap around objects. It's under Path Effects - Pattern Along Path. I was able to make a quilt square like in your example, but the tool doesn't get in the 4 corners. Would your project allow a few adjustments by hand?

    • @WeQuiltStudio
      @WeQuiltStudio 2 роки тому

      @@IronEchoDesign, Hi, ty so much for doing this! Yes, I also tried the Pattern Along Path effect, and had the same corner issue, plus I could only get one row around my image. The stitching is done on the embroidery machine, so it would be very difficult to place each design manually. I wish I could figure out how these other Embroidery software's get that smooth, morphed stitch out. Does Inkscape have a "morphing/ warping tool that will wrap continuously? Or, is that basically what Pattern Along Path is?

Objects Menu you can get to from the Objects Dropdown in the top menu Objects>Objects. • @IronEchoDesign

      It could be an opacity issue. When you have your square selected, what do you see on the Fill tab when the Fill and Stroke menu is open? Towards the bottom of the menu, you'll have an opacity slider. Check to see what color your Fill is set to and make sure it's not transparent. Hole this helps!

    Hi Rick,I'm a new cricut user and have been learning a lot from your tutorials.
    I've been having an inkscape issue of late where everytime I attempt to use fonts,when I click on the select button to expandthe programme crashes....every single time. I have windows 10 and inskcape version 1.1.
    It's become very frustrating and so I uninstalled inkscape for the 3rd time this morning,and am thinking I may have to give up on it....that is unless you have any suggestions.
    Also why is it that everytime i try to scroll through to select a font,all the little icons disappear. Yeah...I'm a total novice. Thnx for any suggestions.

    • @IronEchoDesign
      @IronEchoDesign  2 роки тому

      Thanks! And I too get that bug about the font icons disappearing when I scroll through the list! It's so common that I instinctively click on the font list and immediately click off, and then click back on it. That usually fixes it. No idea why. As for the crashing, do you think there is a rogue font that may have been installed? I have had problems with some downloaded fonts that didn't play well in Inkscape. I later learned that some "homemade" fonts people put on the free font sites may look cool, but they're not formatted properly. That would be my guess. Hope you keep up Inkscape- it's a great tool!
