    “New in…COLOUR!” Retro is not just an aesthetic in some cases.
    I realize watching this review and experience that I don’t know much about New Zealand, let alone their capital. The tower looks like an absolute must do. I wish more elevators were like that. Which I’m sure I can’t say for a good majority of the population.

    My in laws love New Zealand, they were there in 2019 and still talk about what a great place it is, to the point, that during the Covid lock down in 2020 they tried to go there, don't ask.

    Thank you for your series of videos on your NZ trip (and your always stunning 🛳️ videos). I enjoyed your take on NZ and your witticisms. It used to be that we had hot summers and mild winters but “four seasons in one day” is a common refrain now and unfortunately you visited in our worst and wettest summer. But should you find yourselves in Auckland again I’d be happy to extend some Kiwi hospitality and show you around or to offer some recommendations on places to see and stay as Auckland is more than our CBD (which is constantly besieged by construction and roadworks). Safe and happy travels.

      We have another extended trip to New Zealand (hopefully including a transpacific cruise) pencilled in for 2026, weeks can’t wait to come back.
      Thanks for watching and your kind comments 👍

    I live in Auckland; the sunset you saw was over the Waitākere Ranges, which are my back yard 😊. The view from the Sky Tower took in Rangitoto, the youngest of Auckland's 50-odd volcanoes, out in the Hauraki Gulf. Quick te reo Māori lesson; all letters are pronounced, every syllable ends in a vowel, and they are pure and consistent, like Italian vowels. Ah, eh, ee, oh, oo (not quite accurate, but it's the closest I can spell the actual sound). Wh is like a soft f. The one the English have trouble with is ng; the g is not voiced, the sound is more like n with the back of the tongue pressed against the back of the soft palate. Maungawhau slowed down is close enough to Mah-oo-ngah-fah-oo. Hāngī (the macron lengthens the vowel) is haah-ngeeee, kind-of. Glad you enjoyed Aotearoa the Land of the Long White Cloud. Kia ora (be well)!

      Thank you for watching and commenting. We loved listening to the Māori spoken language (the words are sooo long) and we tried to pick it up but like you say it’s quite a difficult dialect for us Brits to conquer. Maybe we just need more time in Aotearoa to immerse ourselves in it 😁😁😁

    Great video as always. Brought back lots of memories as I was lucky enough to live in NZ for many years. The first time we landed in NZ the pilot said everyone should set they watches back 40 years. Glad to see nothings changed!

    I did the SkyWalk a few years back! (Walking around the tower on that narrow path)... one of the things you do is lean over the edge with your harness holding onto you which was utterly terrifying, but still great fun 😅. Great vid.

    Very cool video and the Sugar Club was very nice, but, no way on the world would I even step out on that walk area. I could probably sit at the window table as long as I looked off in the distance. A fear of heights as impacted some of my adventures in Machu Pichu and other places.

    • @visitwithus
      @visitwithus  7 місяців тому

      Helen’s not great with heights either but generally ok if there’s a piece of glass between her and the outside (though not sure about some of those super tall buildings in Dubai!!!)

    Not sure where you got 3G, i havent seen that in a while and i live in Auckland 🤣 it has a bad rep within NZ but when Auckland is good, its bloody great. Ive done the Sky Walk twice and dont the jump twice as well, love it!

    On June 28, 2022, Rocket Lab ( NZ Company ) launched a CubeSat to the Moon. So probably not 40 years behind and probably not 3G on your phone. I fully agree with you about the sky walk, even the lift gave me the willies. I emigrated from UK to Auckland over 50 years ago and still haven't been up the sky tower. My daughter has bungee jumped off the harbour bridge though. Hope you guys have/had a wonderful time in NZ.

      Hehe! We weren't kidding! The restaurant we sat in could only muster 3G which was proving a little challenging when we were trying to post to social media. I think what we were doing wrong was choosing the wrong restaurant! The food was top draw though. Yes, I was ribbing Auckland a little but in all honesty, we absolutely LOVED both the city and the country. In fact we're planning to return next year! :D
