  • Both make-ahead and no-bake, this Italian treat will lift everyone's mood-including the chef's! Grab an Americano at a coffee shop to infuse the store-bought ladyfingers with freshly brewed flavor. Then, after layering the newly caffeinated cookies with marsala-spiked mascarpone, pop it in the fridge for an overnight chill that will set you up for slicing success. All that is left is a final dusting of cocoa powder before serving and you'll be all set to end the evening on a high note.

Nice recipe, although as an Italian, I want to point out that it's not the original recipe where eggs are not pasteurized/cooked :(
That being said, it's an easy recipe indeed: yolks and sugar + mascarpone + beaten whites, then biscuits (Savoiardi) dipped in coffee, then layer everything and top with cocoa powder or chocolate flakes and leave overnight in the fridge. It's the first dessert I learned to make as a child and still make every time I need to bring a dessert to someone's house or celebrate birthdays and so on :)

I'm taking this recipe to the next level by making a 5-layer Tiramisu in my Trifle Bowl.
    Between layers 2 and 3, I'll put a thin layer of semi-sweet tiramisu chocolate mousse;
Between layers 3 and 4, I'm grinding up dark chocolate covered espresso beans and spreading them on the layer for some crunch; and finally.
Between layers 4 and 5, I'm placing a thin layer of ground up Hazelnuts.
For the top layer, it'll be a combination of hazelnuts, espresso beans and a swirl of semi-sweet dark chocolate.
    Should be an awesome trifle.

Great recipe! The only thing I would like to point out as an Italian is that although some people add it, authentic Tiramisu doesn't have whipping cream, and in fact I find it to be tastier without it. But maybe one day I'll check the whipping cream version ;)
Also for the people asking, as he said, mascarpone is one of the signature ingredients of this dessert so you can't substitute it with another regular cream cheese, otherwise you would get some kind of no bake cheesecake and not a Tiramisu anymore..And yes, alcohol is optional (I like it best without) but if you do add it it should be Marsala as he did
I know the original recipe calls for raw eggs but it's 2020 and it's dangerous to eat eggs raw

The more alcohol in the tiramisu, the more fun the party. My dad adds bourbon, amaretto, and cold brew coffee liqueur to his (both folded into the cream and the lady fingers) and it's practically flammable. He doesn't pasteurize it either and somehow gets peaks. It is delicious and makes me more fun to be around...also violates literally every rule in cooking, but so do burnt Basque cheesecakes and those are DELICIOUS

My go-to authentic recipe is by Marcella Hazan. I moisten the lady fingers a bit more since a dryer lady finger leaves me wanting more flavour. I dust with cocoa powder before serving since it becomes a moist layer if applied before refrigerating, which I don't prefer. I prefer a fluffier cream too - that was was soupy. My fav dessert hands down!

I love your videos and your tips, but I’m sorry this recipe for PERFECTING tiramisù is a big no no. There was way too much marsala wine (you’d only need few drops) and the cream was too liquid. It is always better to whip the yolks and egg whites separately! That was a clearly different tiramisù that you took from the fridge. Yours wouldn’t be able to hold it’s shape in that way. No hard feelings and keep up the good work!

I've used this recipe 2 or 3 times now and haven't found it too liquid at all. (In fact, I'm making it again as I type.) Perhaps you need to wisk the mixture of Marsala wine, egg and sugar longer until it's thick enough as I have done.

THIS recipe is the only TRUE, accurate Tiramisu recipe I found on YT using Zabaglione sauce made with Marsala** wine. If you want a 4-star Italian RESTAURANT quality Tiramisu dessert, this is the recipe for you. Thankfully of ALL the TIramisu recipes I watched on YT, I chose this one, and not an imposter.
Two weeks ago I made this recipe and it was awesome!! I doubled the recipe and made a FIVE-layer Tiramisu in my Trifle bowl. Since I've discovered trifles are "up'd" to another level by adding something crunchy on one of the layers (nuts are my usual choice), next time I make this (oh, there WILL be a next time) I will grind up some dark chocolate covered coffee/espresso beans (the type found at Trader Joe's) and sprinkle some of them on the 3rd layer, as well as a few on top for added presentation. I should add that not only doubling the recipe made a 5-layer trifle (using nearly 2 LARGE 14oz. packages of ladyfingers, [most ladyfinger packages are 7 oz's] ), it made another small 5 x 9 dish of 2-layered Tiramisu.
Kudos to Thomas Joseph for this delicious authentic Tiramisu recipe.
**Marsala wine used in this recipe - and ALL other recipes having Marsala wine in them MUST USE IMPORTED ITALIAN Marsala wine as the California Marsala wine is NOT the same thing and WILL NOT WORK. Too many times, I tried using California Marsala in recipes and the flavor just wasn't there. Then I came upon a YT video wherein a chef gives a tutorial on the California vs. Italian Marsala wines and then I got it!! Italian Marsala wine is dark in color and rich in flavor whereas the California marsala is just weak and pathetic and NOT made to be used in cooking.

Uhm, this soupy mixture is not what Tiramisu is. You got this one wrong. Zabaglione, is also not whole eggs, only egg yolks. The yolks becomes thick, secondly you used way, way too much liquid therefor the liquid hot mess. So anyone thinking zabaglione, look it up 1 tbsp sugar per egg yolk. Sigh 🤔, wanna be pastry chef the worst.

I like your channel and recipes but this is definitely not a good one... super watery cream; and not really tiramisu. The result you show at the end is definitely another tiramisu than the one you elaborated during the video... The lady fingers ended all at the upper part of the tiramisu due to the low viscosity of the cream. In the one you showed at the end of the video can be seen that the lady fingers at the top have a good thick layer of cream above them... did they sink during the night? :(
