It's so cool to see Dowina guitars on Andertons channel. I've had mine for more than ten years now and couldn't be happier...
I know im asking randomly but does anyone know a method to log back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb lost my login password. I appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Legend Aydin it worked and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my account !
@Lucca Mathias Glad I could help :)
Just played mine a minute ago. Great guitars, excellent value for money. Believe me the sound and look every bit as good (even better!) as on the video. Cheers from Slovakia!
By the way, Dowina is not a slovak word, don't know where it comes from.
Is it something to do with Devin? (the village with the castle on the Austrian border)
or even it means girl ;-)
maybe in old Slovak or Slavic laguage, but I'm not a linguist so I wouldn't know
Which one? :)
I've had the luck to buy the cedar/rosewood cheap second hand last week and man, I fell in love like never before... I've tried Furch, high end Martins and Taylor and nothing. This little guitar, I just can't stop playing. It sounds like what I was missing all that time before!
I was hoping the intro would never end 👌
I got mine almost 3 years ago now and i love it!...they are unique as Mick pointed out and one just falls in love with them..happy to see Andertons selling them..👍🇸🇰
Selling these in Sweden. VERY impressive guitars, and not just for the price...
I bought one of the Puellas from the store yesterday. It kicked the arse of the other sub-500 quid guitars that I tried. Very well built, great feeling neck and hugely resonant. The only thing that may put some people off is that it's not the most tonally subtle guitar (on the other hand damn it's loud). A good experience all round!
Finally an acoustic show! It's so hard to find acoustic content.
+Spencer Venable Have a look in our Acoustic Paradiso playlist, there are loads of videos for you to watch. Thank you for watching.
Just wanted to say thank you for supplying these guitars i LOVE them!
That cedar-topped expensive one was absolutely stunning. Time to sell a kidney...
Slightly cheaper than a Furch. Probably on a par with an Auden Chester. Alternatively sell both kidneys and your liver and get a Lowden...
Can't explain how much i love these vids
Spruce: 10:26 // Cedar: 10:54
Spruce: 11:22 // Cedar: 11:40
Spruce: 11:56 // Cedar: 12:13
Spruce: 12:36 // Cedar: 12:58
Brilliant guys - have a lovely christmas , great fun for us all in 2016 - more of the same in 2017 thanks to Cap and the gang ! 2
damn, I wish I could get my hands on one of those. I'm sure they sound great too, but I love the way they look. They're decorated enough to be pretty but also modest enough to be approachable.
these Hawaiian shirts will never be out of fashion, looking great as always
Judging by the pricing and the intro these guitars are going to sell like crazy... they sound SOO GOOD, I was expecting double the price
was the intro an actual song? because that was the highlight of my day
Reminds me of Seagull Guitars (a branch of the Godin family) here in Canada. Beautiful, well made and reasonably priced. Great find!
Those who aren't familiar with Halcyon guitars out of Vancouver, British Columbia should look into them. Absolutely amazing quality for the price!
Tyler Wilson Halcyons are nice but their cheapest model is over $1000 US.
Something intrigues me about how acoustic and electric are so different and similar at the same time!
Could you do a video on 12-strings?
I wish someone would write out the chord progressions that the guys use in their demo licks.
If Anderton's would tab it out in a book, I'd buy it! :-)
"Play Along With Mick & Pete"
Those guitars sound really good. I will be buying a new acoustic early next year. These Dowinas may be just the thing I was looking for.
Planning to get mine this august.
seriously though, when is the album out?
Dowina make great guitars for shure, I own one of them and I am crazy about her to a point that I barelly use my electric now!
For Shure?! Guitards for microphones? ;)
That was very helpful and informative without being boring lads. Thanks for the video. Nice shirts too. 10/10
Can Andertons please look at Cole Clark Acoustic Guitars? They are the most amazing guitars and truly on par with Maton, Taylor, Martin etc (even better than those if you ask me ;). You truly wont be disappointed!
an Australian guitar review like maton or cole clark would be great to see if you have them there
also would love to see a sound like john mayer
There is one in the "Sound Like" Playlist.. Might even be two :)
We don't stock those guitars sorry.
A Maton review would be awesome indeed
those sound like john mayer ones are electric id like to see an acoustic one if that was possible cheers
They look amazing
Great looking guitars. The Rosettes are especially sweet looking and they also have some very cool trim in places... What Slovakian? So no plywood... cool! Nice Guitars.
i absolutally love these, the only sad thing is that i live in the netherlands and can't come try these things out. Hopefully companies like these will get a chance in the media!
I bought mine without seeing it too and I didn't regret it. On the other hand I live on the other side of Slovakia so theoretically I could have gone to see it. Anyways, I bought it in December 2012 and it never ceases to amaze me how great it sounds and looks.
There’s a chippy in Windermere called Vinegar Jones. Just letting you know.
Gorgeous guitars. I just can't get over the fretboard's uneven coverage over the sound hole. It looks like it was placed in too deep, and someone decided to break it off. I have to admit I did not yet make time to watch more than just a couple of fragments throughout the video, so perhaps there is a good explanation for this. Great video as always, though!
MM PDJ It's just the style they went for on some models. A lot of mandolins use that style as well.
Already have a Martin but I'd trade it for one of these beauties. Great stuff.
Mick is back!!
He never left :)
holy shit great playing
it's not a big brand but my seagull maritime comes similarly specced for about 700$ made in America and it's a fantastic guitar for those looking for something similar in the USA
Zachary Paddock Seagull guitars are made in Canada.
My favorite is the Cedar Silva :)
Dowina's are hard to find in the USA. But found them for sale in California and Colorado. Nice , really nice guitars. The Puella and Rustica are about the lowest prices ones at $400. US dollars. Which is really a good price for guitars of this quality. When's you talk about quids or British pounds, I have no idea what you're talking about. The Pound goes up and down so much. A British pound for a long time was 2 American dollars. Then it went to 1 1/2 dollars. Now the pound has dropped even more and I'm not sure where it's at now. I like the words "entry level" , which in America is a marketing term that means, Guitars under $300, no matter how good of guitar it is. Lol Hey, Word!
Nice one lads, you guys can get the bes out on any guitar.
Lovely guitar sound great never played one might be interested in trying one bought a finlayson gam 50 all solid wood ebony fretboard herringbone bound edge's with case for 600 pounds they also sound great i think only guitar guitar do them these look amazing for the money 👍
That was the video intro for guitar paradiso, not acoustic paradiso!
I wish they made a 12 fret, cz their prices are great for what sounds like a top notch guitar.
You're not exactly accurate, the cheapest ones are in part made overseas and not in Slovakia. I believe they at least brace the tops themselves in Slovakia (and maybe do some more) and then send the bits overseas to be put together to save on labor. I dont remember if the finishing happens in the Dowina workplace or the overseas factory. The solid back & sides ones are all 100% made in Slovakia and top notch quality, comparable with Furch, Bourgois, Lowden and the like.
great vid! when are we gonna get nine string acoustics with true temperament frets?
great video lads, and love those shirts , wore mine yesterday, was trying to get a cedar top seagull artist but no longer made, these blow away, love that cedar top cutaway, are the pick ups included? and shipping to Ireland? keep safe
Is the one with the broken wax seal now B-stock? Can I have it for a fiver?
The name origins from the Dowina Castle from the area the guitars are build.
No left handed models?
First comment, please give me a medal, a personal thank you letter and all the guitars you have.
Personally I like the Mic sound better than the pickup. The Mic sounds more natural to me. I use the Fishman pressys 301. Use both the Mic and pickup but just a small amount of pickup. To each his own.
Ребят, все круто. Продолжайте , я смотрю)
Englisch? 😁
hey.... what happened to dawner prince pedal video???? ... it's on my notification ...
Pete, your knees look a little discoloured, is it carpet burn? There's something about cedar.
Pls review the budget model of dowina vectis
Does it sound similar to Furch ?
Thought there was going to be a link to the guitar company video
Aaron S there is now! It's at the bottom of the description.
Great video.. a comparison with Fuch Guitars would be nice too...
Yes, Andertons have a look at the Furch Guitars. Best Instruments I have ever played. And finally since 2016 i own one.
As far as i know dowina is a medieval slovak word for 'a girl' ..which kind of makes it a bit cooler yet..;)
It is also medieval name of Devin castle - nearby of which the Dowina guitars manufacture is located
I want one
"Spruce Springclean". That was a good laugh. 🤣🤣🤣
What song do they play for the intro
what about Furch (Stonebridge) guitars?
If anyone owns the Silva or Faber, would you recommend it?
look up Avalon acoustic guitars Lee!!
+Darren Miller I know of them - don't the UK made ones start from about £3000 though?
Andertons Music Co wtf I thought these guitars would have been a similar price...
WoW.. So how would someone in the states get one of these?
We can ship them as long as they haven't got any Rosewood. Otherwise check Dowina's website for dealers in the US. Thank you for watching.
Yeah, the rosewood conspiracy.. :> That's kinda what I was interested in.
Hmmm I wonder if they have plans (like Fender) to stop using rosewood and sub in another wood? If so, I'd wait for the non-rosewood version. Im in no rush.
In any case these guitars are nice. Haven't seen anything in the states that rivals them.
TY for the quick response
@@IPushHard Really the only models they use rosewood on are the rosewood (including cocobolo & maybe granadillo) back & sides ones. The fingerboard, bridge and bridgepins are all ebony.
where's the link ?
was that blood bank by bon iver at the start? :-)
wait no it wasnt! ... lol
If someone in the USA buys a guitar from Anderton's, is there an import fee and big shipping fee?
Wait for the professionals to answer, but expect to pay import duty which is usually equivalent to local sales tax. I have bought instruments from the states before, and that's what happens (unless you can somehow get it labelled as a gift).
As for international shipping fees, within Europe I've found Anderton's to be ridiculously reasonable. No idea what they charge outside of Europe though.
+kdrake777 if you buy from Andertons & live outside the European Union, you'll have our sales tax removed in the checkout (price goes down by 20%). Then when it arrives with you the courier will ask you to pay your local import taxes. I think in the USA it's pretty low - something like 5% for a guitar, but it's best to google it & find out what your local import taxes are. Sometimes orders under a certain value are completely exempt from import duty.
Andertons Music Co That's amazing if they only have to pay 5% on a guitar! Lucky barstewards!! UK manufacturers must be selling a shedton of gear to the states at the moment with the pound being so weak.
Fraser McFadyen if only there were a few more UK based manufacturers - very little stuff is made here. A small number of amps is about all ☹️️
Atkin, Brook, Eggle, Fylde, Moon, etc, etc, All good value from £2500 or so.
They are not really the same... half a fret is missing on the dusty end for the cedar top
It reminds me of a Faith Guitar.
Do these ship to America?
Yes
Does Andertons ship to the US?
I think they do but it could be expensive. There is a dealer in Colorado who claim to have the Dowina line but I didn't get much in the way of a reply when I contacted them.
RADThird1 thanks for the info
Just checked on Dowina USA and the only dealer they list is the one I tried: Golden Music in Lakewood, Co. Google them for the web site. I'm no longer in the market for a guitar but the Dowinas really impress me. Maybe you'll have better luck with Golden then I did
Why do you tend to play country type music with these guitars ? Is that the target market ?
What do you suggest? Metal mayhem?
Since the pound also fell against the euro by roughly the same amount as the dollar how is buying guitars from Slovakia a better deal than buying from the USA or Asia? BTW I firmly believe the value of the pound will rise again.
Hello! VAT and import charges account for a big part of the deal from the US. They're not applicable to European imports. I presume that's it.
Ah, the dreaded VAT. Makes sense. Thanks Mick.
how much?
Links and prices are in the description. Thank you for watching.
what song are they playing together ? ua-cam.com/video/1vxriODQX-c/v-deo.html
Do they make a parlour model?
They do now. It's called the Chardonnay BV although it's not listed on the Dowina site yet and Andertons don't have it. It's a beautiful guitar. Give me a shout for more details
Puella means girl, Silva=forest, Arbor =tree
First comment
Well done :)
when you're so greedy that you read dowina as do win a guitar.
Britain votet to leave the EU in june 2016..... 2020 now and their just gone....
Hand built? Mmmmm
Uhmm cedar seagull anyone. ?
Hand-Built?...Like every other guitar?...
Definately not, your average Martin or Taylor is a factory built instrument made by mostly your average American underpayed factory worker, a lot of machines are involved and practically not a single real master luthier touches the instrument unless you go into the upper end of their priceclass. These Dowina's (the Vintage and Master series, the Laminate ones are made overseas) are handbuilt in a "boutique workshop" by real luthiers. The only machining they do is rough shape the neckblanks by cnc and lasercut the tops and inlays so they match up perfectly (things a human could not do better, even if time was of no importance). Hold one of the Vintage or Master series and you get they are in a different class entirely, comparable to Bourgois, Furch and Lowden.
I did go on the website a truly awful company arrogant and dishonest
Whose website are you refering to? Hopefully not Dowina!!?
There is nothing dishonest on Dowina’s website… who knows what that person was referring to
Micks shirt has hit new levels of bad taste
*good
Look at Furch guitars for goodness sake! This guitars are to die for, made in Czech Republic.
Why did you guys stop selling them?
Do Andertons still sell dowina guitars
Apparently, no. Just one used one on their web site as of 5/14/22.
Seven years on - Sublme guitars......outstanding company
Made in SLOVAKIA :)
This is probably subjective, and I'm not sure anyone will care... but after listening to most of the acoustic demos from Paradiso on audiophile studio headphones, and assuming they were all recorded on the same equipment, uploaded unequalized, etc. these Dowina guitars are absolutely the best sounding guitars you've demo'd. The only other guitar that came close to this gorgeous sound was the Yamaha TransAcoustic. Maybe that isn't the case live, but the fact these sound THIS good with the audio compression on UA-cam and other various factors says something to me. WOW.
The sound is just as good in person
I'm impressed. I was expecting them to be way more expensive, but for such well-built and great-sounding guitars, they're incredibly cheap!
mick where did you. get those shirts 😔
Guitars look lovely.
Interesting. Dowina make some of the best acoustic guitars out there and you gave them an excellent review yet you have decided to no longer stock them? If anyone wants to check out the full range you can find them on musicstore.de (aka DV247) with 2-3 day delivery. And if you want to know more about Dowina guitars just give me a shout or visit our forum.
What's the lowest priced model for solid spruce and solid rosewood back amd sides?
Don't believe I can get one of those in Canada....
Will have to ask Lee what the shipping would be to my neck of the woods........!
one of the best sounding acoustics i've heard at a decent pricepoint.
I wouldve liked to see the parlor model "Granadilla", but... the rustica Is very nice, and also the top model
