    Dowina GAC Acoustic Guitars
    rguitars.co.uk...
Whilst of course this video demonstrates the wonderful Dowina OMG & Dowina GAC acoustic guitars in mahogany & rosewood, the video also helps serve the purpose for helping anyone who is confused about what acoustic guitar may suit them personally.
This video could have extended out to parlor & dreadnought bodies (smaller and larger) but the OM and G bodies are by far the most popular acoustic guitars.
However - should you be a "dedicated" fingerstyle player then a parlor may well still be of interest to you and if a dedicated strummer looking for all out volume and open tone then a dreadnought may be suited to you.

I had reserved a Spruce/Mahogany GAC (which I did like) but opted for a Cedar/Rosewood GAC instead. The tone is absolutely gorgeous both strummed and fingerpicked. The sustain is just incredible. There's also tons of volume and loads of headroom for a cedar top - Dowina really have reinvented cedar topped acoustics! Best acoustic I've ever played!

If anyone is thinking of buying a guitar from Richard, I cannot recommend him and the team enough. A fantastic experience

Richard, this was a wonderful demonstration. Thank you very much.
I really enjoyed the warmth of the mahogany, but the rose would evoke emotion from me while listening to you play. It was amazing!
I may be biased because I do have a rosewood inside dreadnought. It is a dolomite spruce top Cabernet from Dowina.
The funny thing is, I am just a beginner! What a wonderful guitar to start on

Dowina guitars are absolutely out of this world amazing 😊 I played several of them in your shop and if I could, I would have walked away with more than one! Very happy now with my OMG Rosewood DLX and one day will come back for a OMG Nylon model 😊

Doing this video was so incredibly difficult because I ended up loving every one - and it would be unfair to suggest one being “better” than another so it was so important to try and convey where one model may be better suited than another - but again it’s very much personal preference so it’s all just a guide of course 😊. I recognise your pic - I couldn’t be more grateful for your write up you did on your guitar - truly wonderful.

@@RichardsGuitarshop I totally agree with you that there is no “better” guitar! They are simply different flavours.. like ice-cream! I have a few favourites 😀 they all are great and can bring different colours to your playing 😀

The auditorium size sounds great. But I play the orchestra due to the size makes it more comfortable for long playing. My OM has an Adirondack top so I get more headroom and lush sounds out of the smaller size.

The sustain and overtones are beautiful in OM guitars I have a rosewood and sitka spruce furch green and the sparkle and shimmer on simple chords is just mesmerizing. I get lost just playing simple arpeggios.

I came from Glasgow down to the shop intending to purchase a walnut or rosewood dreadnought with no cutaway and spruce top. I came away with a grand auditorium rosewood with cedar top and cutaway. The only thing I stuck with was Rosewood. I couldn't initially work out why drawn to what became my Dowina Rosewood DLX while trying the different guitars but once my ears warmed up, the tone AND overtones (Richard's shimmer?) coming out of it were beautiful. It has more low and higher frequencies. Whereas the walnut and mahogany had more middle than I preferred. And - Jon was a good soundboard (pardon the pun) for me as I tried the various guitars. Had a great experience.

Clicked on hoping to see Richard in a full tilt childlike stream of consciousness and there it was in spades. Those Dowinas' deserve that kind of demo, their instruments don't seem to carry the weight of tradition or convention and they just sound unique and better for it.

Great video Richard! I have a Giltrap signature 2000 and a Gitrap signature 2000DLX which have the same tone woods as the OM's and the GA's you demonstrated so well. The sound palettes are so similar! I find the 2000 responds best in concert tuning and the DLX excels in DADGAD. It would be interesting to hear the OM and GA in DADGAD.
Great job Richard and it's always a pleasure to watch your videos.

Nice video Richard. Quite difficult to differentiate the sound on a iPhone speaker- but I get the idea. Really happy with my Dovina GAC. Your team led me through a similar process when I was buying from you. My advice - take your time, keep swapping between guitars

    • @RichardsGuitarshop
      @RichardsGuitarshop  3 місяці тому

Yes I totally agree. Keep an open mind as you swap between them as first impressions can be deceiving when your ear is used to the previous guitars tone and characteristics. Like you say - take your time and keep swapping around. I think it takes 5 minutes to clear the last one out of mind to where you can be objective. Thanks so much for your support

Although I have to say I have no personal audio preference, and all of them sound lively and responsive, this is quite a useful demonstration for me, since I like to sing when I play a guitar, and finding the right tone and focus, one that supports my voice, can be a real rabbit-hole! What is so nice and appealing about the Dowina guitars, is that, as far as I understand, we get to choose just the combination of features we need. (My bank manager, not to mention my entire family, are getting nervous, even as I type LOL).

I'll bet the nylon strung smaller bodied Dowina sounds great. Their OM is pretty much a standard classical body size and shape. Perhaps a Dowina nylon string demo video should be next, Richard?

Great sounding guitars. It was good to hear the OMG next to the GAC. I tend to gravitate to the paduak GAC, but all of the Dowinas sound great. I sometimes just use the entry level GA when I need balance of volume with a room 🎤 picking up the guitar and voice for a podcast. Thanks for the video. I have been waiting for this video... (There is a pond I'd have to cross, but one day I will to visit your store.)

At last a Richards Guitars video where you can clearly tell the difference between the Guitars. You must have some new sound recording gear since the last video I saw. They all sound fabulous but I am particularly drawn to the Cedar and Rosewood OMG partly because of the body size, but also because this has always been my dream combination. Some more general info on scale lengths, strings etc. would be appreciated. I have now subscribed and look forward to seeing more videos of the same quality. I may have to arrange a visit to Stratford Upon Avon before I buy another Guitar.

Hi Graham. Indeed I’ve been learning new skills and spent a lot of time to do this. Please do bare in mind due to the specialised nature of what I do - all of this has to be done myself. Dowina guitars are not high volume production guitars so as I’ve said in previous videos the time it takes to educate you isn’t ever really going to result in me getting rich - not financially - but certainly rich in other ways that make me feel good. My honest words should be the catalyst to subscribing as hand on heart whether the guitars sound awful or fantastic - im telling you they are fantastic and if they sound awful it’s my poor playing or inability to record them properly 😊. Always trying my best and will continue to do so and thanks for contributing and hope we can help you on day in the showroom. You’ll have a lovely day to remember - we will make sure of it!

I'm in the market for an all solid cedar/rosy GA guitar, with a budget of £1500-2000 and would very much welcome a video comparison, please, between the Furch Yellow and the Dowina featured here, since Im not easily able to get to your showroom for the full hands on experience.

Hi. Actually that’s all part of the service if you need it when buying a guitar! If you want to order the Dowina gac rosewood and mention in the order notes that you’d like me to compare the furch yellow - I’ll sort it for you!
