  • Here is something completely different than what I normally do, but I really like Pink Floyd.
So, I covered one of their entire albums. And some people say I don't use my time productively...
    EDIT:
What happened? Why does this suddenly have so many more views? Did I miss something?

    Speak to me: 0:00
    (N/A)
    Breathe in the air: 1:09
    Breathe, breathe in the air.
    Don't be afraid to care.
    Leave but don't leave me.
Look around and choose your own ground.
Long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be.
    Run, rabbit run.
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done
Don't sit down it's time to dig another one.
For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race towards an early grave.
    On the run: 3:54
    (N/A)
    Time: 7:20 (Roughly)
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say.
    Home, home again.
I like to be here when I can.
When I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire.
    Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells.
The great gig in the sky: 14:15
    (N/A)
    Money: 18:20
    Money, get away.
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay.
    Money, it's a gas.
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash.
New car, caviar, four star daydream,
Think I'll buy me a football team.
    Money, get back.
I'm all right Jack keep your hands off of my stack.
    Money, it's a hit.
Don't give me that do goody good bullshit.
I'm in the high-fidelity first class traveling set
And I think I need a Lear jet.
    Money, it's a crime.
Share it fairly but don't take a slice of my pie.
    Money, so they say
Is the root of all evil today.
But if you ask for a raise it's no surprise that they're
    giving none away.
    Us and them: 25:10
    Us, and them
And after all we're only ordinary men.
    Me, and you.
God only knows it's noz what we would choose to do.
Forward he cried from the rear
    and the front rank died.
And the general sat and the lines on the map
    moved from side to side.
    Black and blue
And who knows which is which and who is who.
    Up and down.
But in the end it's only round and round.
Haven't you heard it's a battle of words
    The poster bearer cried.
Listen son, said the man with the gun
    There's room for you inside.
    Down and out
It can't be helped but there's a lot of it about.
    With, without.
And who'll deny it's what the fighting's all about?
Out of the way, it's a busy day
I've got things on my mind.
For the want of the price of tea and a slice
    The old man died.
    Any color you like: 33:11
    (N/A)
    Brain damage: 36:38
The lunatic is on the grass.
The lunatic is on the grass.
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs.
Got to keep the loonies on the path.
The lunatic is in the hall.
The lunatics are in my hall.
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more.
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.
The lunatic is in my head.
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'til I'm sane.
    You lock the door
    And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear.
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.
    Eclipse: 40:18
    All that you touch
    All that you see
    All that you taste
    All you feel.
    All that you love
    All that you hate
    All you distrust
    All you save.
    All that you give
    All that you deal
    All that you buy,
    beg, borrow or steal.
    All you create
    All you destroy
    All that you do
    All that you say.
    All that you eat
    And everyone you meet
    All that you slight
    And everyone you fight.
    All that is now
    All that is gone
    All that's to come
    and everything under
    the sun is in tune
    but the sun
    is eclipsed by the moon.
*"There is no dark side of the moon really. Matter of fact it's all dark."*

I'm a Floyd fan myself and I'm able to hear the passion you have made this with. My compliments to you by having the guts to face up to those that always want the exact same version. Every live version of every song I hear from them (except the 80's) sounds different from the other. That is what keeps music alive.

    • @MrCannedguds

This is true! Everytime the band plays their song, it sounded like a whole different tune. Money on the original album is not the same one in Collection of Great Dance Songs and it's also completely different on compilations/greatest hits album and live albums.

Bands that play their tunes just like the album have no balls. Eagles for one, even though I like them Frank Zappa never played a tune the same way twice, ever. PF forever holds a piece of my soul, were my very first concert age 17 in summer of 73 DSOTM tour. Glorious.

Thank-you for what is absolutely the best instrumental version of Pink Floyd that I have ever heard. Your production is absolutely the best I have heard so far in my life as a Floyd fan and I am in my mid-60's. Very well done and thank-you so much for the time and effort that you put into reproducing what is probably the best rock and roll album of all time. My hat is off to you, Sir.

This is an excellent piece of work of a cover of a classic album and I love the guitar work. This is, of course, not Pink Floyd and should not be judged against professionals (especially Dave Gilmour) but it is what it says it is, one man's version of an instrumental take of this album and he succeeds. He has done something 99.9% cannot do even though we would like to. We should not expect this to be note for note perfect as every cover should be an interpretation of the sounds in your head and this captures the essence of the album as jazzy in places and atmospheric in others (plus the excellent soaring guitar solos). If you like Pink Floyd (without the lyrics ...) then give this is listen. It gets better with every time you hear it. Well done and Floyd on ...

Whoever you are, we are so grateful for figuring out how to make an instrumental of this great album. Please, for humanity's and musicians' sake, do more instrumental on iconic classic rock albums. Some suggestions: Revolver; Moving Pictures; Rumors; Led Zep III; Who's Next; Pet Sounds. Gracias amigo. May you have more subs. You deserve it.

Thank you for this, I love Floyd, there is never a time that I'm not in the mood for them. But their words are so incredible that I always end up singing along, and that's not always what I need. I'm a writer and when I'm writing I like to have background music, but I need it without lyrics because otherwise I get distracted and stop to listen. I usually listen to Endless River or classical music but today I thought I'd have a look to see if anyone had done any covers in an instrumental style and this came up. It's just perfect for me, just what I needed, so thank you again.

The end of "Money"s three verse riffs (and end of sax solo) should be:
    | F#2 - F#2 - F#2-C#-F#1, A - C# - F#2 - F2 | E2-B-E1, G - A - B - D | B (main riff continues)
    What you're doing is:
    | F#2 - F#2 - F#2-C#-F#1, A - C# - F#2 - F2 | E2-E1-G, A - B - D - E2 | B (main riff continues)
. . . I realize this could have been a creative decision to change it, but it doesn't seem like that sort of thing.

To all the HATERS out there... go produce this, better than this.
I'm amazed you took this on and did a fairly good job.
It's your interpretation and if you took as much time as PF did no doubt it be perfect.
One can copy Dave's guitar licks but no one can reproduce the FEEL of his notes.
    .
SUGGESTION: On the quite parts, pump up some volume or add something from your repertoire. The reason being, I'd love to have this on my Wing when I'm riding loooong hours.
    THANKS!!! for this instrumental.

Nice! I'm not a purist. I like to see Pink Floyd's work covered and re-interpreted and all that, because the alternative is that Pink Floyd's music eventually dies out.
My dream is that, 100 years from now, Pink Floyd will be studied in universities as both music and literature. My _nightmare_ is that, 100 years from now, Pink Floyd will be a _religion._ I try to discourage Floydian reverence as much as possible.

+Ben Culture Progressive rock is the religion; Pink Floyd, Rush, and Yes are the priests. I do agree with this tho, this music is nothing but spectacular writing, musicianship, and emotion and it should be observed as stellar because it is. Pink Floyd has left a legacy on prog that is unparalleled and will remain unparalleled for a long time. I'm a huge Rush fan, but comparing Rush to Pink Floyd is something you cannot do and it is partially because of how unique Rush was (and still is) but more to do with Pink Floyd. Rush wrote epic anthems, Pink Floyd wrote literature.

Fantastic job! As a big fan of Pink Floyd I must say i am thoroughly impressed, but i noticed that in the great gig in the sky the piano is slightly off tempo, not trying to start anything but i just noticed that. Still an amazing job though!

Only vocals I missed intensely were on '' Great Gig in the Sky'', Even in my imagination, my imaginary vocals can't touch it. :) Hats off to the orgasmic vocal cords of Clare Torry.

Ok all - true story. Went to the Waters DSOTM concert in Dallas (2008). The guy sitting next to me had a medicine bag full of drugs. We took a short break outside after the 3rd song and like a memory a dude floated up to me and asked me "Hey man, where can I score." I introduced him to the medicine bag. Handed him my ticket so they could become best of friends. He gave me his ticket ... it was a real ticket not an internet printout. It had a gold VIP printed on the bottom. Ended up in Row A seat #1 !

That's one of the many reasons I love Pink Floyd. All their songs cross over into the next one. Like you said, it sounds like one really long song. It could be because of the same chord at the end of the first song and the start of the next song, or a sound effect.

I love this! Heard some PF today in the car, and googled instrumental versions. Never liked the vocals. The beginning of their songs were enticing, the instrumentals were what I always wanted to hear more of, center stage, but I always had to turn it, just never liked the singing, the words just committed the song too much(like a music video does), so when I hear it again, it pops up the same depressing emotions. Yuk. Beautiful & fluid, what a freeing listening experience. Thank you and well done!!!
