The difference in quality and depth of narrative and flavour you can dive in to with this compared to 40k's Crusade is insane. I don't get how they're coming from the same company.
Super excited for this book! This is exactly how I prefer to play and I've even got a selection of custom heroes ready to walk (or ride a dinosaur) down the path! Thanks Ash, awesome content as always dude!
Initially I was thinking, ohh goody more radical rules changes. Then I hear RPG with miniature war gaming rules mixed in. Now that is kinda interesting. I actually wanted to try this with Mutant ChroniclesRPG and Siege of the Citadel rules. Those actually exist from the kick starter.
This is pretty much the only way i want to play AoS. Got a bunch of Darkoath i don't think will ever be competitive as a standalone thing in the main game but im hoping to do something weird and wonderful with for Path to Glory. Could be a lot of fun! Cheers for the breakdown!
I had the idea to wait till I got like 10 emberstone to spend on my weapon but then I learned on a 1 after forging it it breaks and I can't risk it lol
I got new acquaintance of mine into wargaming by Warcry, 1st ed, then AOS, 3rd. We started the PTG campaign and it was pretty cool growing our forces, building up our forts and I made use of some old plastic-hex from Mighty Empires to enhance the campaign feel. But there was but one expansion for 3rd ed PTG and then came this 4th ed. pretty much moving the game to an even more over complexed (special rules wise) competitive game with utterly uninteresting campaign rules. So I asked my friend, who was playing StD, if he wanted to try the OG PTG, the one I got with a White Dwarf when LORT was on cinema. So I got out my WoC and BoC 6th ed. army book along that awesome Tome of a rulebook and told him the basics, we created our champions, rolled our forces and started playing. I knew 6th ed. was a way better game, but my friend who´d only experienced modern GW games, along a tittle 4th 4k, had his mind blown. We played half a dozin games of 6th ed PTG, growing our warbands along an evening, and discussed how the Warhammer rules have changed during the past 20 years and we haven't gone back to AOS since. Warhammer (6th), Mordheim, (old) Necromunda, Mutant Chronicles (1st ed) & Flames of War is on the table for the moment. Keeping a look out for WZ Eternal. Lets hope 5th or 6th ed. of AOS (unless they cancel it all together) may bring some of the games narrative charm back but right now, yet again, GWs new rules keep alienating me from enjoying their universe. Luckily the old games I keep enjoy still rock! And we also plan to come back the 3rd ed. AOS as we got the books anyway :D
I mean they’ll come out eventually… and there’s plenty in here in the meantime. I’m excited for my noble knight to eat his way across the burning wasteland!
Loking for amber stone in the coast? That sound like campain in poland but thay just rotate the map ;] [Poland have one of or the bigest know deposit of amber . And is mostly in the coast.]
My only problem with Path to Glory in this edition is how they are handling Anvil of Apotheosis. Building your own hero from scratch was an amazing feature last edition, and a ton of fun. Now the rules are being pieced out one book at a time. This is a mistake, and creates a system of the haves vs the have nots. I was really hoping that they would have come out with a generic ruleset to get people by until their books come out. Other than that, it looks great!
Seems massively imbalanced still if someone has chosen a faction that is just a counterpoint to yours its just got a lose more theme, reinforcements for people who have already won more is a stupid rule as there troops will be buffed as well. I dont think the underdog mechanic will be enough. Of course you can always house rule to make it fairer but you shouldnt have to.
Stalled Reinforcements are not additional units. The player with the bigger army is forced to set aside some of their units and roll to see if they show up later in the game, if ever.

It’s what happens when each game has separate development studios!
Couldn't agree more!
it was the path to glory mechanics that brought me back to aos
I can't wait to try this. This feels like a great way to play AoS.

Thanks Ash, awesome content as always dude!
This looks like an excellent way to play AoS, and a nice addition to Path to Glory
Exciting! Wanna get this going with my friends!

I might give AoS another look just for this
This is the content I needed to start 2025
Wow! This sounds awesome... thanks for the great review!
It's cool that they borrowed the paths from the Hinterlands Skirmish fan expansion for this!
Satuday morning reviews!! 🎊 🥳🎉🤩

Same, the main game has had me burned out since the last quarter of 3. edition. It’s just too convoluted and killy.
Thanks Ash.
This looks great! Well up for giving this a go.
Looks great! I *really* hope something similar eventually turns up for MESBG but am not holding my breath.

Thanks GMG 👏

Kind of bummed only armies with battle tomes have anvil of apotheosis tho

@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames Ash, that requires PATIENCE and you know how people handle waiting :D

I think i will be looking to do that
After i fight to my 80 clan rats rezerw i think it will speed up alot
How compatible would this be with Spearhead? At least from a starting point...
Most spearheads are between 650-900 pts so with another hero or unit you’re pretty much good to start
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames Cool! I really need to hurry up with painting my chaos warriors then. :D

Ah that makes much more sense, thanks
