Finally took your advice on la nuit. This right here. I've been rocking cologne for over a decade and I haven't had a reaction like this in a while. Top 3 fragrance I've ever smelled
it dries down to a bad old spice musk. its not good after 5 hours IF you overspray. 2-3 hours layton is good. La nuit is incredible even on the dry down but you HAVE to overspray it.
I've had Layton for about a year now, absolutely love it. Its gourmandy / apple crumble vibe is unmistakable, reminds me of Christmas. Definitely hovering over the "buy" button for La Nuit though, based on yours and other reviews.
Umm La Nuit nothing to go crazy about in my opinion, kinda weak in my opinion, mind you I don’t spray anything more then 3-4 light spray standard. If I can’t get a pleasing silage. It’s a good thing I only got a sample from scent split. Stick to Layton .
I just ordered La Nuit based off your consistent praise of it. I actually own a decant of Layton and while the opening is lovely, the heavy vanilla drydown is a bit too sweet for my taste. Looking forward to rocking La Nuit and giving it a good assessment!
I have Layton and the longer it cooks on your skin, the better it gets. The dry down is where it’s at. I wouldn’t go past 3 sprays. With LNDL, I own the Bleu Electrique version because the original version wasn’t available where I was at. Bleu Electrique opens a little fresher but the dry down is damn near identical to the original LNDL. The scent trail both of these fragrances have are incredible!!
Ya I had a dude at work (not my ideal demographic but I'll take it lol) comment that I smelled amazing he has at the bottom of the stairs and got my scenttrail with Blue Electrique.
Soooo true, I don’t have a huge collection of fragrances, will not like you guys who do videos but i have a decent amount about 40 and I do have both of these fragrances abs I absolutely love them! Ysl has fort me at last two compliments every time I’ve wore it!!! Layton I love as well but not as many but I don’t care! Lol so like you said the vast majority of people are not going to be familiar with all the niche companies or even most designers I know many guys who only have about 3 to 4 fragrances and that’s all they buy the same ones cuz it works for them and they have no idea about all the other great fragrances out there!!! Anyway I love your channel keep up the great work!
I was literally just looking for a comparison between these two ! Just blind bought Layton and absolutely love it ! However, I’ve always referred to La Nuit as my “cuddle cologne” 😂 Great comparison, and great content !
I’m actually considering blind buying Layton right now. Do you think it’s a gourmand type vibe because of the vanilla? That’s the only thing holding me back right now. I hate gourmondy type colognes but I like royal equestrian from Alexandria and bear this is just a more refined version
@@Payton77 Layton has vanilla in the dry down but it’s a similar type of vanilla that’s in spicebomb extreme, if you aren’t a huge vanilla fan then the dry down will let you down😂
I have a sample of both these fragrances to me Le nuit by Ysl is such a soothing fragrance I would definitely think this is a women sweeper. It reminds me of a cologne you would smell somewhere by a makeup store. Idk that’s what I get. And for Layton I smell the vibes to a more sophisticated Versace Eros. Projection is there and has a Sweet vanilla and Aromatic smell.
Melissa, your review is a breath of fresh air. Thanks for the straight up - no bullshit review of these 2 fragrances. I agree with everything you said. I feel like Layton has more depth than La Nuit de L'homme. And, yes, it is more underground because of price point, and where the product is available. I have to say that I was surprised as to how much the scent of Layton can change depending on the year and batch. I have tried some batches especially a few years back - and it was a home run. La Nuit De Lhomme and Layton are both great - I still prefer Layton.
I'm just starting my collection and after seeing a lot of opinions and finally testing several today, I decided on three fragrances: La Nuit, Layton, and Ultra Male. Then this video popped up in my feed and confirmed that the first two were great decisions. Great video and thanks for making it! Subscribed
I'm all about ysl.. got my wife 22 years ago with the original.. She loves la nuit on me now.. my all time favorite is Chanel Allure!! Layton tho is what I reach for these days..
What are your favorite fragrances now? Look like you and me have the same smell that I only have 2 bottles of La nuit and Allure original version (Not Extreme). And thinking to pick another one but not sure which one.
Very informative 👏.. and I own both Layton and Carlisle. If we are talking about the sexiest perfume from the house of parfums de marly, than Carlisle is the one for sure. Layton is jack of all trades.
Layton Layton Layton I should have been got this fragrance a long time ago this is a very sexy fragrance I cannot stop smelling myself I'm walking past women they looking back I'm walked on a bus everybody looking back and yes you can wear this all year round this is a signature scent Worthy fragrance indeed. ❤️💪🏾🔥🔥💪🏾❤️
And personally I get hit instantly with a very strong note of Geranium when I first spray on Layton, I kind of feel that that is the reason why people think that it smells like menthol…
La nuit de lhomme is great for pulling women. just make sure you spray enough. I dont wear it that much because its all i wore last year as my sig scent so im ready for something new lol
La Nuit hasn’t been the same as it was years ago. You have to overspray in order to get good projection. Smells good though. Me personally, I like to smell unique. If I can get a cologne at ulta or macys, it’s no bueno. I don’t wanna smell like everyone else, such as Bleu de Chanel, Dior or Aqua. Get niche!
Never been huge fan of layton iv had both herod and pegasus from the same house and they had average longevity and smells better but i prefer la nuit over all of them
I got a 2013 batch of La Nuit and the reformulated 82% of Layton. It's funny that they last almost the same on me. Old batches of La nuit were long lasting as hell. I'm very glad I have both, each one cover totally different situations.
The thing is i dont wanna waste my money to use a 100ml la nuit for only 4 times when i go the club, wouldnt bleu electrique be a better option since its stronger ? Or why is that less sexier?
People keep forgetting that La Nuit De L'Homme is a Fougere, which gives it that fresh, aromatic aspect; definitely more versatile than UA-cam seems to categorize it as. Tbh, when we think about how fragrance has evolved since the 1950s, we think of something like Paco Rabanne Pour Homme as fairly heavy whereas when it came out it was viewed as super-fresh. Thanks for breaking the elitist attitude and repping good scents based on how they actually smell regardless of designer vs. niche, cheap vs. expensive. Tbh, I'd rather have an affordable fragrance with a little less performance that might need a little bit of overspraying because I can have control of how far the scent radiates or how strong it is; if something is overpowering with one spray, there's not really a way to dial it back.
When I smell Carlisle I instantly thought of YSL La nuit. I smell cherry in both but haven’t smelled the YSL since years. I wondered that you compared it to the Layton instead.
I picked up LMDL blue electric and I’d say for about a month or so I was about it, but after that it started to just become average for me… Now I’m not sure if that has anything to do with the fragrance profile of that particular Sent or what but I have since smelt the original formulation on my brother and I agree with this assessment of it in that being that it drives everybody crazy in a quart aphrodisiac like “way… What are your thoughts?
drydown of lyton is freakin amazing. but i have the vibes of sauvage elixir with it. the same potent and linger to your skin. lyton sticks to the collar of my jacket and i can still smell it after few days i haven't worn it. la nuit is pretty much one of my gym scent. it smells nice if my body heats and sweat up
i own both. you really can’t go wrong with either. if you want longevity and performance go with Layton. if you want a sensual close encounter fragrance, basically sex in a bottle go with la nuit de l’homme. you basically said the same thing as me lmfao you got a good nose.
You nailed it with the “underground bullshit rant “ I hear people say it played out and over used. Dude, by in large nobody even knows what the f it is.
I'm often layering an attention getter (like Layton) with an attractive skin scent (La Nuit de L'Homme). Yes, evil to first lure them to you in order to grasp them, but hey, everyone's totally free to ignore me. 😉 PS: Thanks for the idea (i.e. comparing these 2), because tonight I'm going to try layering PdM Layton + (next to, not on top) YSL La Nuit de L'Homme + EM Molecule 01 (on top of La Nuit). 😎

Layton is definitely a heavy hitter in my collection, definitely prefer over La Nuit.
Yeahh and i think they have similarities in term of scent because of that cardamom
Just got La Nuit on your recommendation bro and I love it. It's intoxicating and not overly masculine. Good for us slightly masc of center ladies too.
I know you’re smelling amazing
Love your content! It feels refresher listen to a new honest opinion around here.
Thank you!

When you sprayed YSL did you spray 6 different spots or something like 3 sprays per 2 spots type shit ? Asking because my bottle is in the mail 🔥🔥🔥
I personally spray twice in 3 different spot… 2 on each side of the neck & 2 on the back of the neck

What about YSL Lanuit vs Carlisle?
Can you do a video demonstration how and where you spray the La Nuit 17 times? Do you pretty much spray everywhere but on your neck to avoid wrinkles?
Late to the YSL LNDL game but I scored a 40ml bottle for £15 a couple of weeks ago and now thinking of getting 100 ml. Pretty good.
Nice!
Where from?
There are many collectors, with hundreds of bottles, that still refer to La Nuit as the grail. Reformulations be damned, that has to mean something.
LNDL smells better and is more versatile, sexy and clean, but it's too weak. So I'm going with Layton on this one
