I agree with all your points except for number 3.
Layton is very popular and hyped in the fragrance community but that is such a small percentage of the world. If you wear Layton I really don't think you have to worry about too many other people having ever heard of it or wearing it. Just my opinion.

Exactly. It’s nearly impossible to find anywhere within 200 miles of where I live. I’d have to drive up to Phoenix to buy it, and even in the PHX Metro, there are only a few select PDM dealers. It’s non existent in Tucson. Sadly.

I completely agree with this statement. Even with a “mainstream” scent like Sauvage that the fragrance community says “you will smell like everyone else.” I rarely smell any type of fragrance on other guys where I live. Most of my friends rarely wear cologne.
This is an amazing fragrance - one of my favorites! Unfortunately it's more of a winter frag for me.......so I'll have to wait till it gets cool again :)

I was about to sell this one because it wasn’t really my cup of tea. I sprayed some on my pillow to see how long it would last and just wow! This stuff smells really good as it dries down.
I noticed calm cinnamon nuance in Layton. I don't think the scent is very simple, it is extremely well blended. Phenomenal perfumery in my opinion.
I'm from a tropical country and as much as I like how it smells, it does tend to be offensive to some when it's hot. It can be worn when you are in an airconditioned room like in the office but I have to spray lightly otherwise it might be too much for others to smell constantly.

This video would have been helpful before I bought Layton. Fun fact, I bought it about a year ago without knowing how it smelled and I was absolutely pleased with the scent. A very risky blind buy but I loved it from day one 10/10 fragrance IMO
You can get 125ml for about £145 in the uk. By no means cheap but not ridiculous. Although if you're comparing it to designers then yeah it's pricey.
I think it is very popular in fragcomm and with enthusiasts. But I've never met a single person through my work or personal life that wore it 👍🏻

I haven’t either to be fair but since it’s getting quite a bit of buzz I thought it would be useful to break it down in a simple manner to hopefully help some people in their purchasing decision. Regarding price - can you believe that I never, except for one time, purchase my fragrances on discount?! I know shocking, probably missing something there 😂

@@hocineted7594 ITs the most unique complex fragrance ive ever owned. I cant even describe it .Its has a very preppy feel to it so you need to be someone who dresses nice. Its a vanilla green apple, wood but preppy.

loyal4 the way yes, it’s very versatile but only on nighttime or maybe no over 30°C.
One of my favorite creations hands down. So delicious. A stand out in my arsenal, on par with Herod.
Layton was my full knowingly step into the niche fragrances world and collecting niche fragrances. So Layton has a special place for me. In the meantime I have get some fragrances from Parfums de Marly and I like Layton very much, but it is not my number one from the brand, I like Herod, Carlisle und Layton Exclusif more.
Parfums de Marly ist my favorite niche brand, but Amouage is winning ground, the so called "Blue Beast" Amouage Interlude Man (oman edition) is truly sensational...

@@jusderose Amouage has a nice discovery set. I own Interlude Man, Reflection Man and Lyric Man, all three are fantastic: scent quality, flacon and packaging are top 👍🙂
The next Amouage fragrances on my buying list is Jubilation 25 Man and Overture Man.

I don't understand, why so many people think that Layton is to sweet, especially for the summer. I think the florals and the fresh notes are very strong and balance the fragrance. But you made a great review. Thumbs up :)

nobody wears layton. you guys in the community know Layton. I will tell you in south FL. Its all about the designer fragrances Eros, sauvage etc. ( whatever smells good to girls and gets compliments)
Secondly when I wear cologone esp EDTs they never last on my skin for more than 2 hours. When I wore layton outside in the heat It lasted a very long time.
I got a lot of compliments because I think it projected more on MY skin.

Because PDM Layton is so ubiquitous, I rather enjoy Layton Exclusif (extrait) as an alternative. Although better for cooler/colder weather, I really love, love, love it ! ( I even have a backup Bottle )

Not sure why but every time I put this on I get a strong initial blast of blueberries… ? Blueberry geranium and cardamom are the three notes that stand out the most to me in this fragrance… Amazing compliment factor though!👌🏻
I agree, it's a bit too sweet for warm weather, its not an everyday fragrance, definately not a blind buy (not even close) its an acquired taste so try it first. It may take me some time to get to like it as I prefer fresh citrus bleu type scents. like acquia de gio absolu, D&G light blue, Chanel bleu etc.

I think you'll be happy. This was my first niche as well. It took a few wearings to fully grow on me and now it's one of my favorite fragrances. So if it's a bit "too much for you" at first spray then just try not to judge too quickly. Give it a few full wearings and if you're like me then it will grow on you.

I always gotta laugh when they say everyone will be wearing this, at nearly $400 a bottle for 75ml here in Australia, I can guarantee you'll almost NEVER smell this on anyone else unless you're rich going to rich parties, lol.
i blind bought it. I have about 45 fragrances. it's my least favorite. also most expensive by far. tried to sell it once but i'm not computer savvy . at least 95% percent full.

I do have that "problem" when choosing a fragance. I don't like smelling like everyone else, so I try to avoid mainstream fragances. Parfums de Marley is very tempting, but to be honest, when smelling them the first time I wasn't amazed. Any advice on a not so hyped fragance, yet a good recommendation? I really like the proper reviews from this channel
Definitely. There are already plenty of videos on my channel that feature niche fragrances and more niche videos will come. I just wanted to do this video to lay down the facts of this very hyped fragrance to hopefully help someone make a decision of purchasing/not Layton.

Save your money and get Guerlain Mon Guerlain EdP Intense. Its better than Layton, much smoother, and the quality of vanilla is better. Mon Guerlain Intense is also a BEAST mode scent, while recent Layton batches are weak
Can Layton be worn also when it’s a bit warmer outside ? Or should I just wear it for autumn and winter times ?
We should start saying you won’t smell unique within the fragrance community. I wear Layton all the time and I’m literally the only person in the room wearing it. Everyone else is wearing cheap cologne from Burlington and other department stores. Not to mention the price point, very few people will spend 300$+ to smell nice hence the name “niche” fragrance.

yes i live in Egypt and it was too hot so i try it at summer and i don't like it have spicy & sweet notes!! i will try it again at winter

I have Herod, Charisle n Layton. I find that it doesn't works on me. In terms of its projection wise, hardly i get to enjoy it. Last less than 30 min. I'm not sure is it because its reformulated or I have a nose blind. Anyway I wear it on d evening to avoid from hot weather.
Herod is one of my favorite fragrances but it wears close to my skin but man what a smell....
I am looking forward to Zohar Aroma inspired by Herod.
It's overly saccharine in high heat. But perfect for all other situations

Very different vibes. Exclusif has a more "niche" feel vs Layton but don't find myself particularly attracted to this scent.

Tbh, PdM is montale/mancera level brand. It shouldn't cost that much. Initio is slightly better, but they seem to have the same palette of aroma chemicals.

Performance on my skin is around 8h and projection is very good. After some time it gets too sweet on my skin but stays put.
If you search well, you can find Layton almost at half the retail price
I’m so early on this vid too! I have decided I am not a fan of PdM. I am forcing myself to enjoy Delina since I blind bought it but I find Meliora icky, Safanad is nice but simple orange blossom smell- not a composition really, Darcy ick,etc. But I still want to sample Layton and Pegasus and the guys’ ones. Maybe I will like those?
Parfums de Marly is a great entry level niche brand. Are the fragrances super unique? No, I don’t find they are but they will satisfy a lot of people, are likeable and “easy going” niche. I’m not a huge fan of the feminine fragrances, some smell like well known designer juices so I wouldn’t spend my money on these. My favorite from the line by far is Pegasus. It’s really beautiful and totally unisex IMO. If you like almond it’s such a fantastic one!

@_Heatwave I have a huge collection, I understand some fragrances truly are masculine and feminine. As an incredibly feminine woman myself, I wore layton in rotation for years. It’s a unisex fragrance and there isn’t nothing overtly masculine smelling about it. I’m not a woke Lib that thinks everything is fluid but Layton really doesn’t smell masculine to me at all. IMHO

I own both: Layton and Boss Bottled Intense EDP, nothing similar between the scents. I have no idea, that if a scent is based on apple, this is a Boss Bottled version, also if a scent is based on pineapple - it is a Creed's Avenus clone. Layton is a BANGER!

Do you know anything about the reformulation of Layton? Is it true that it wont last and project as heavy? I mean it's like 4 years old, why would they reformulate it? I really wanna buy it, but I'm a bit concerned.
No sorry... one thing to note though is that if a fragrance uses a high concentration of naturals it's normal for the batches to vary. You can't expect the same harvest of lemon, vetiver or rose every year... many factors will affect the yield (e.g. weather). Just food for thought :D

Jup, for me also. Except the drydown is good but opening en mid all i can smell is a menthol scent. The weird thing is that at the first couple wears i didn't get the menthol at all

For me layton does not work well in winter, on my skin it projects alot of fresh apple and vanilla. I prefere Herod or Tobacco Vanille in winter and layton in spring, summer evening and fall. In Sweden the summer is not so warm and winter is super cold so fresh apple in super cold winter smells realy off :)

Because of the hype I blind-bought it a month ago.
First impression was wth, that's a female fragrance!
Second impression, people said it lasts long.. even when my nose touched my arm, after 1-2 hours it's gone.
Now after a half empty bottle: It's not bad, but extremely overhyped. I didn't get one compliment. My wife dislikes the day when I spray Layton on myself.
Who is this for? Women.
What type of man could wear this? An excentric artist in his early 30's probably.
