    This was recently released in the news. Most of the media these days in New York City has been doing a terrible job. Osmosis excellent work. The immediate response from Osmosis shows hat osmosis is worth the subscription. In school I have been taught that science is advanced through the free flow of information for the betterment of mankind on an international community. Secrecy is frowned upon. It is encouraged to publish etc...Time will determine if this scientist is hero or villain. Tom TL

    Regarding the 3:40 part, He already confirmed that one of the twins is heterozygous, and will therefore not be resistant. The other twin is homozygous, and will (as far as I know) always be mosaic when using this technique.
    But note that this mozaic can also appear within the population of immune cells, meaning that some immune cells are resistant and others are not. So if she does get infected with HIV, I expect there to be some kind of natural selection within her immune-cells, which will result in her being fully immune.

    • @jeherulislam6903
      @jeherulislam6903 4 роки тому +1

      nat selection don't work that way, its more acceptable in a population rather in a given individual. i think the individual wil likely develop AIDS coz , considering half her TH CELL RESISTANT, the other half getting destroyed by HIV wont be enough to provide her adequate healthy TH cell. ok,by your premise if those healthy cells want to cope up with the lost TH cell, it may be life threatening to her long before her healthy TH cell make enough of resistant varities. natural selection works better and more pronounced in a population rather than an individual.

    Another great video. Thanks so much for illustrating us on this new technology. I wanted to point out a mistake: since U is replacing T, in RNA, the correct sequence is CCG𝗨T𝗨. That way, Uracil is replacing the two Thymidines, contrary to the video where Uracil is replacing Adenine.

    • @wongsimone4938
      @wongsimone4938 4 роки тому +1

      I believe you have been mistaken. For starters, nitrogenous bases (A, T, C, G) do not ‘replace’ one another. They form complementary base-pairings, in which hydrogen bonds are the ‘glue’ holding them together.
      Adenine always pairs with Thymine or Uracil (in RNA). Why? Because A and T are complementary to each other. Each base can only bond with a specific base partner. Just as Cytosine always pairs with Guanine. The reason behind this lies in the bases’ structural components. If you’d like, I could touch more on this.
      In the context of this video, the sequence indeed is CCGAUA. Thymine in DNA (4th & 6th base of the sequence) has to pair with the Adenine in RNA. We both know RNAs use Uracil instead of Thymine. Uracil has a similar structure to Thymine, thus U has to pair with A in DNA (5th base).

    • @laniduong8930

    I have a problem with the expression: "improved symptoms" -> how so? 😟 Symptoms should decrease not improve (in your context), right?
    What am I missing, except 'some' NLP? 😉

    • @magnanimus9692
      @magnanimus9692 5 років тому +1

      Technically you can say either "the symptoms improved" or "the symptoms decreased [implying they decreased in severity]", both mean the same thing (that the patient's symptoms are not as bad as before).
      The opposite is also true; if you want to indicate that the patient's condition is getting worse, you could say "his symptoms have increased [in severity]" or "his symptoms have worsened".
      However, most use the terms "improved/worsened" to describe symptom progression rather than "increased or decreased".
      The terms "increased/decreased" are typically reserved for things you can measure, like vital signs and quantitative lab values.

    My wild guess of what the future would become
    The rich are getting smarter, stronger, with longer lifespan, etc since the genetical engineering costs a lot of money.
    The poor could only do so much they could only work as a grunt at best. They wouldn't be able to compete with the rich. With this, the gap between poor and the rich is getting wider and wider.
    A giant step towards dystopian future folks. Let's enjoy the ride

      It appears you have missed the point of being human Julia. Our nature must not be suppressed. This "Venus Project" will _not_ create humans. It will produce a societal abomination that is a hollow simulacrum of humanity. The human mind must remain sacrosanct, while the flesh is enhanced to conform to the will. The mind must remain unaltered. Any "restructuring" or "sublimation of primal tendencies" is tantamount to defiling the very fabric of humanity. A true abomination. Amicus Entropia well, if you test it on a patient about to die it could either save them or kill them quicker, it is non-perfect technology, it is new and dangerous, as Gene editing techniques become better THEN they will be able to test on patients with terrible diseases. As of right now, Covid-19 patients can not be helped with gene editing(It is possible to try and maybe work, but since everyone is different, on patient may have a different reaction than a different one, and for some it won’t even work).

      The twins spoken about on this video may have a shorter lifespan as a result of the gene editing. You can google this.
      I imagine there would be the same result for other gene edits, not a shorter life but increased suspect ability to some other diseases if one is treated to be immune to a specific disease. It will take a long time for this science to be perfected.
