I have replaced lots of these bearings. You can get the bearing in the after market no problem.

I have a 2005 sprinter with this same issue. Do you know if the bearing can be replaced or is it like above that the whole assembly need to be changed?

@@seanbryant2349 you can buy the bearing spurious for about €150.You will also need to buy the oil seal. Mercedes only sell the whole assembly for about €850.

Wheeel bearing with the hub are well supplied and available in the market, aftermarket and from MB and VW. Don't you know that?

FEBI 44689 is the part number for the separate hub / bearing assembly. Sooooo..... not sure what you mean by it not being available aftermarket?

The bearing and hub come as one part , no need to replace the half shaft just tap the hub off its on a spline ,

Is tapping it off really that easy? It's not a heavy press fit that needs special tooling? thanks..

Do you need to add grease or anything? Or is it totally sealed? I'm replacing one on my 2016 4x4 and it looks self contained

You can replace the hub assembly and remove the shaft super easily. Watch the Russian guys video. Lol.
