Tavy@ Francks a great character. But the reason frank ended up the way he did was becouse the difference between the true greats like george best is george could always still make big money even 30 years after he stopped playing. But with the good players to put it realisticly cant do that, and have to have a plan and save up money over 17 years of playing top football. And then when they retire they own a pub or two. But i dont know tbh where franks head was at about this treasure search lol then when he got cought up in a drugs deal ye have to laugh becouse now its went a bit far to now not believe the treasure hunt wich i and others didnt believe any way. It was just purely desperation to still want to have big money coming in. But its hard to believe as well that frank would have become a drug dealer to earn a few grand a week. Was it really that bad. And he must have knew that his not stop spending money like 2 grand a night on champagne had to come to an end, and all those women and men that dranck his money away and snorted it away a bett he could only name about 7 of them out of 27 and even then thats all he knew was there names, its so easy done. George best was on a tottaly different level and he to did it but he also knew at least 22 out of 27 of the men and women wich is tottaly different. George has been down and low but he wrote in his autobiography i read 'The Good The Bad And The Bubbly' in 1990 wich was a great read, that he has never been tottaly skint. And in 1976 he put £26,000 in an irish bank and it went bust almost over night. Wich would be at least £80,000 in todays money. George had such a big name. And he being paid £300 a day in the early 1980s just to show his face in most of the big clubs for only 20 minutes, then he could do 3 to 5 in one day, and thats £1,500 a day. That was alot of money in 1982 to 85, plus he didnt have to buy a drinck. And sometimes he would just stay in the club all day and night and get drunck Just becouse he felt like it especialy if he mett players he played with and against. But he always seemend to be have alot of money? so why were the press saying he was a down and out and in 1984 when he got stopped in his car for drinck driving what the press didnt add was he was driving a rolls royce at the time, wich costs more than the press earn in 2 years wages. If he didnt drinck the way he did after playing football people reckonend he could have become a millionare becouse of the constant demand from tv work by at least £200,000 a year salary. But good to see macca boys doing well and healthy.
Ally McCoist didn’t cover himself in glory here, although he looks quite young at the time of this and compared to him now. Charlie Nicholas appeared or came across as being more companionate, whilst not being judgmental. Guess it’s a case of you get what you deserve, but thanks for the memories Frank, I hope you can bounce back and have some peace.
Joseph maxwell, ally couldnt even handle the english game, sunderland off loaded him to raith rovers a thinck. But frank was brilliant in english football.
They can say what they want. The Macca bhoy is a one of a Kind. My footballing hero growing up.
