How much of clone wars have they seen?
Seeing Bo-Katan in live action played by Katee Sakchoff who also voiced her in Clone Wars / Rebels was freaking amazing. She was literally perfect in every way. The scene where she took down the stormtroopers with the arm-knife and then turned around looking all badass, was such a Clone Wars moment.
I'm not exactly sure if u noticed but if not, the Mandalorian Woman is Bo Katan from the Clone Wars. And Katee Sackhoff is also the Voice actor of her in CW
in Rebels too.
Basically, the Mandalorian was home schooled. Total fish out of water.

I am VERY happy that they used Katee Sackoff (the voice of Bo Katan) to actually play her in the live action version of Bo Katan. No one else can be her.
Bohka isn’t evil, I believe the reason they were looking at mando weirdly at 6:10 is because they were shocked by how little he knows about the Jedi and their connection to mandalorian history, the force, the empire, the war they will fight against Gideon, the great perge, baby yoda, the planet mandalor and other mandalorians. The old ways that mandos cult followed did not include them giving their people the knowledge about all these things, only knowledge about the old ways of mandalorian . Mandos gonna need someone to fill him in if he’s ever gonna help fight Gideon.

BoKatan was not only in the clone wars but she also was the last Mandalorian to hold the black saber which was given to her by Sabine Wren in Rebels to unite all the major Mandalorian clans to fight against the imperial occupation, she also fought by Ahsokas side and was good friends with her and is also the sister of Duchess Satine was ObiWans love interest and former ruler of Mandalore during the war, so she's kindve a big deal😅

They are way more interesting. More factions, different ideas in how to claw back power. Hell, the Remnant in the EU eventually was ‘good’, for a time.

The Mandalorians actually aren't united for most of their history, they operate in Clans which can have wildly different views on the creed and what is acceptable. Its always been the great weakness of them that they only unite when a Mandalore arises. Their known for fighting each other plenty when there isn't a Mandalore to instill order, and even the Mandalore's themselves can take wildly different approaches to leading their people. From hyper aggressive and welcoming Neo Crusaders into the creed to preservers who instruct their people to build and repopulate rather than seek conflict.
so they are just like ancient Greeks.there own worst enemies.
@@sasavulic1236 I'd say their more similiar to the viking era Danes, they agree with each other in principle. In practice they beat each other up and can't agree whats the right thing to do, but when they unite like the great heathen army... their basically unstoppable. Any culture that makes martial prowess a requirement for leadership runs the risk of a strong asshole ending up in charge, or a good leader just not living long enough to achieve much. Also because of their success, whenever they lost wars the reprisals they suffered often took generations to rebuild from because people feared them so much. Mandalore the Preserver basically all but forbade war because their people were so decimated from the conflict with the Republic that they just needed to make more Mando babies for a while.

Din is a part of Death Watch. A sect of Mandos that are basically the religious extremist of Mandalorians. I don't think they told Din about the regular people of Mandalore. To him, Death Watch is the only way. Bo-Katan was a member of Death Watch, but really is a member of the ruling family.
She was apart of Death Watch before Darth Maul took it over. She is now the apart of the Night Owls.

Just to point it out, when referring to them as a people, they're called Mandalorians, not Mandalores. Mandalore is the name of their planet, the title of their leader and can be used when referring to their code (e.g. The way of the Mandalore).

8:58 Actually Lady Bo-Katan Kryze can b/c SHE'S a true Mandalorian, NOT Din Djarin. The way you can easily tell Din Djarin isn't really a Mandalorian is clearly obvious:
1. He was raised by Death Watch, a clan that was cast out by their own people and aren't truly associated with Mandalore.
2. He knew absolutely nothing about the Jedi, and that's something every true Mandalorian would know of, even if they don't actually encounter them.
3. He literally bought the Imperial propaganda who claimed Mandalore was haunted and should avoid setting one foot on the surface of their homeworld, and as she explained Mandalore is her homeworld and seeks to take it back.
Yup pretty obvious he hasn’t been told the truth about real Mandalorians. Also he is the only one that doesn’t take off his helmet. Nowhere else is Star Wars canon is that a thing. It’s was literally made up for this show and for him.

Din's sect is Deathwatch, Bo Katan is royalty and leader of a regular clan. But Din is on the path of The Mandalore, where any badass Mandalorian can become leader of all clans. The Darksaber is one way of the path.
Bo Katan is Deathwatch and Madanlorian Aristocracy while Din is basically in a more extremist splinter group of Deathwatch which has no contact to 'normal' Mandalorian society anymore that's why he has no clue about them and their customs.

The Dark Saber was created by the first (and only) Mandalorian who became a Jedi.
Mandalorians have been around for a long time but the helmet rule is new and seems to be exclusive to this cult. Din Jarin is in the minority when it comes to his practices.
The helmet thing was actually mentioned by Bo-Katan to be part of the ancient practices. No helmet is newer; just not overly new
Bo Katan knows Yoda and the Jedi and has a close relationship with Ashoka.
They all but confirm that Din Djarin is from the Death Watch (where Bo Katan says he is from the Watch), which makes sense since they are the ones who rescued him as a child.
This was a fantastic episode lore wise. Also, the theory is Ashoka will appear in the 5th episode.
In Rebels the darksaber (which was made by the first Mandalorian Jedi and is the symbol of a united Mandalore) was recovered from Maul by Sabine Wren then given to Bo-Katan who ruled during the Galactic Civil War but lost it to Gideon somehow.
Bo is the sister of the old Duchess who was Obi-wan's unrequited love interest (he tells her he would have left the order for her). She is an old ally of Ahsoka (who is basically an adopted Mando she even has beskar bracers).
But yeah Bo is more Mando than the main character as she is true born Mando nobility and he is an adopted convert of a wacko cult lol

Bo Katan was the one who mentioned Jedi, in series one the Armourer called then a race of sorcerers called the Jedi. Bo-Katan Kryze (voiced Katee Sackhoff) by was introduced in Clone Wars as part of the Death Watch under Pre Vizsla (voiced by Jon Favreau) who owned the Darksaber. In the Clone Wars Series, the Death Watch (or the watch) is a breakaway force from Mandalore who want to get back to the military ways while the ruler of Mandalore who is Bo-Katan sisters is keeping the planet neutral during the Clone Wars. Bo-Katan breaks away from The Death Watch after her sister is killed by Darth Maul and leads a civil war on her home planet (Rough history).

The Darksaber isn't quite as simple as "whoever holds it rules Mandalore". Throughout Clone Wars and Rebels, we've seen it held by about six or seven people, but out of them only one or maybe two (Maul and Bo-Katan) have ever been the rulers of Mandalore. In the same period, we've seen four or five people rule Mandalore, most of whom did not have the Darksaber.
The Darksaber is an important _symbol_ for the Mandalorians, because it belonged to a clan - clan Viszla - that very often were the rulers of the entire people. It doesn't, on its own, convey leadership, but it's a useful tool to rally people to your cause.

dayuuum...Moff Gideon isn't playing around. So far he's top 3 in my favorite starwars villains.
I'm sure this is a huge improvement for Pedro Pascal to start showing his face more, but I 100% doubt that that was their sole purpose for bringing in Bo Katan. Anyone who has watched those shows knows that Mando (Din) was different from many of the Mandalorians that we've seen in the past. it was inevitable that he'd meet these Mandalorians and realize his creed has differences, intense fans knew that. This episode kind of just...clued everyone else in :)

There is a long history to the Darksaber. It goes back to a thousand years or so and belonged to Tarre Vizla, the first Mandalorian that was inducted into
the Jedi Order. SO, in other words, the first known Mandalorian that was force sensitive. After his death, it was kept at the Jedi Temple and then the Mandalorians
stole it back. From then on, anyone in possession of it ruled Mandalore. It had been passed on from generation to generation down the Vizla line but Maul bested
Pre Vizla in a duel and killed him. Bo Katan left after Maul got the saber and started her own clan. Before that, she was a member of Death Watch. It's a long history
and I'm not the best person to explain it all but it's interesting. Different clans have different beliefs. I guess you could say that Death Watch are more conservative
and the newer clans are more progressive. I think she addressed him as a "child of the Watch" so that's different than Death Watch. He's been taught to be more
conservative and not take off his helmet because they were hiding away and only came out one at the time.

Personal branding is everything for an actor's career, so I don't begrudge Pedro Pascal one bit for wanting his helmet off sometimes. (And personally I just find the whole "never take your helmet off" thing to be extremely impractical).

I suggest you watch clone wars and rebels in full.... your missing alot ... bo katan Was trying to reach out to Mando ... By having him fight alongside her... she knows how thick headed they can be... Mando belongs to a cult basically..

i guess the rumors were true the mando armorer was a darth maul loyalist with the horns coming out of her helmet. so the mandos clan are the baddies lol kinda strange tho Paz Vizsla was part of that clan. Why would he be a maul loyalist if maul killed his kin Pre Vizsla?
