Great tutorial as always! I have a good Bakasana but I struggle so much in my Ashtanga practice to jump into Bakasana, I think it’s the first step before practicing the lift into handstand 😅
Perhaps Mark has a different perspective, but I wouldn’t say that jumping into crow is a requirement to press to handstand from crow though they both require an ability to control your body while suspended. In my view there’s a good progression between bakasana and press to handstand which is to start lifting the knees off the armpits even if for a few inches and then trying to land back on the arms. You can see it as a partial press. Press hard into the floor trying to keep arms straight, emphasize the activation of the lower abdominals hip flexors and lower back to start driving your hip more vertical. If you still don’t have the strength to press a few inches form a static bakasana position, you can do it facing a few feet from the wall and come into bakasana dynamically (swinging in) and use the momentum to go to handstand. Hope it helps!
Thank you Mark for this ! I struggle a lot with bent arm strength and Bhujpidasana B. I hope you make a video on it someday. 🙏
