*Vornado definitely makes a great fan **Fastly.Cool** . We had the older model that was larger and which we liked more, but we are still quite pleased with this product. Recommended!*
It appears to be a run-of-the-mill C frame shaded pole motor, usually the bearings on these don't last too long. Hopefully Vornado chose them from a manufacturer that uses better bearings. So far this one has been working well for me.
Great demo, Jordan. Thanks. I'm here for a Vornado almost exactly like that one. And specifically for that springy wire thing at 24:45 and how it works with the motor location. For some reason my motor doesn't sit squarely so when I replace the front cover, the blades scrape the upper inner part of the fan cover. It's slightly tilted up when securely fastened and I thought it was that part. Great fans though, we have several of various sizes.
Awesome Job Bro i enjoyed the video they do have the 630 model of this fan which is a 10" model with PSC Motor and 3 speeds i might get it not sure yet but i might get it ...
@@JordanU btw do you know if it is a good idea to switch the shaft of another fan even though it is the same size for example an optimus 16" with a pelonis 16"
My 533 stopped spinning the other day. It is not the fuse. I can hear a hum from the motor and assume my bearings froze up. What can I do to repair it? Is it a matter of cleaning and re-oiling or do I need to replace the bearings and if so, how do you do that?
Just oil it if you aren't able to take the front off and take like a torch lighter and singe off the hairs that get wrapped around the backpole of the blades
I have a similar one but the switch has roman numerals and it's in a different location. Nothing happens when I turn it on and the fan spins free. Either motor or switch fault. Ain't worth my time on a pos from 2010 so itll get parted out or sold for cheap to a mr. Fix it.
@@arcticarrowhvacr I strongly dislike made in China and everything it stands for. I would take made in USA over made in China any day. However, I do like to look at things objectively, and on the rare occasion that China produces something satisfactory, I will give credit where it's due.

You're a stinkin advertising freakshow. Find something constructive to do with your time.
The fact that so many people had to find a video just to take this fan apart to clean it. 😅 Thank you Sir!!
It should be easier to work on.
Jordan, great video with camera placement and your instructions. Very helpful.
Thanks
Those are brilliant motors, and should last a very long time. I recently got a second hand vornado 530b that I’m super impressed with.

best fan ever. Mine lasted almost 20 years. Just have to replace power cord and it will run for 50 more years!
Thanks for letting me know.
Great demo, Jordan. Thanks.

You're welcome.
Thanks Jordan u you taught me how to service a shaded pole motor keep up the good work
You're welcome.
Really helpful, been wanting to clean my Vornado forever and not known how to open it! :-)
Glad it was helpful to you!
Hey Jordan dude, your golden locks are in your cam’s way.
I'll try to pay more attention to that next time.
Thanks. My 530 still strong after 10 yrs. Now I know how to get that motor out an oil the bearings.
Nice workbench. Does the Vornado 530 fan have a fuse hidden somewhere as well?
Thanks! Very helpful
You're welcome.
Thank you, I've cleaned mine

@@JordanU welcome
I have not seen a wooden collapsible measuring tool in years. : )
I don't know anyone else that still has one.
@@JordanU Takes me back to my younger days, helping my Dad with projects around the house. He used one for many years.
@@JordanUI think I have one in the big mess of tools I inherited from my dad. 😅
Thank you
You're welcome.
Tho motor in my 530 was making a loud buzzing noise. Any idea what that could be?
Could be something as simple as a loose screw or complicated as windings that need a revarnish. I can't tell without the unit in front of me.
very detailed explanation! most helpful video I would say!
Thanks!
Can you compare this model with a honeywell
Yes.
@@JordanU btw do you know if it is a good idea to switch the shaft of another fan even though it is the same size for example an optimus 16" with a pelonis 16"
I like it
No surprise there

Most likely needs to be cleaned and re-lubricated.
@@JordanU So you think no need to replace the bearings then?
@@daddylogan There really is no way to replace them. I’ve seen tons of cases where a couple of drops of oil save a locked up fan.
Just oil it if you aren't able to take the front off and take like a torch lighter and singe off the hairs that get wrapped around the backpole of the blades
Next size up
That doesn't make sense.

Vornado was still decent quality in 2010.

@@JordanU Now that I can strongly agree with!
It’s a ridiculous fan. They never thought people would need to clean it.
Unfortunately, they were correct in the sense that most people now wouldn't bother.
blades refuse to come off
