prewound bobbins are truly a treat, like more fabric...you dont have to stop but to put new bibbin in....
This room is beautiful and organized.
I'm 59 and started sewing when I was in elementary school. By 7th grade, I was making my entire school wardrobe, only because it was cheaper to do so, and my parents only could afford to give us a $25 budget for our school clothes for the year. So, it was in fact 7th grade when I was sewing a pair of pants, that the machine was acting up. I was getting SO frustrated, and as a result, I started shoving the fabric thru in my anger. Are you ahead of me? Yeah, the needle ended up going RIGHT THRU MY THUMB!! I remember staring at it in disbelief. I don't remember how we got it out or if I got a tetanus shot or not. But, all that to say that the moral of the story is, if the machine is acting up, keep your cool and if you can't, STOP sewing til you ARE cool! 😁
You stepped away from teaching!? Youre so confident to make that choice. I know you have so many new things in the works- I guess if I did, Id do the same. I look forward to learning why and what gave you the ultimate push. Ive followed you for years. Im sure Ill continue to learn from you no matter your title.♥️😊
I really love ur colorful sewing room is beautiful, by the way ur dress 👗 is beautiful love love the pop of colors. Thank u for sharing 💗❤️
Thank you for showing us your sewing room! To have a room like this has been my dream for quite some time. Hanging your fabric- genius!!
I'm super lucky for sure! This is why we can't have guests stay....no guest room! And thank you, hanging the fabric was a game changer for me!
I store some of my fabric on foam poster board cut to 12”x12” squares. Wrap the fabric around the squares and you can store them like books on a shelf and still see it!
ohhhhhhhhhhh...I love that idea, thank you for sharing!!
I am a wire shelf addict also - I use them in my closet room, bathroom, for grandkids toys, etc. - love the mobility with the wheels and options of sizes and adjusting shelves. Your sewing room is amazing!
I love the space you have created. So many useful ideas. I currently use 2 seperate rooms. One for prepping and one for sewing, (encourage movement). Still trying to get the most out of a 12×14 space.
It's so hard, especially when you are creative...we just need so much stuff!
That was so much fun!!! Thanks!! Its Amazing!
Glad you enjoyed it!!
I hear you! I did that, clear bins and drawers, for all my fimo and tools! I even put all my cutters in a sectioned clear plastic box. So helpful! I have more paint and canvas/WC pads than sewing stuff. I have several sewing machines and a serger that have been sitting dormant after my kids grew up and moved out. Now I have a granddaughter! I have been making sleepers and am going to make her a quilt this summer once school’s out!❤️
I love that you get to sew again for your granddaughter, I know she will cherish that...and so will her parents, how sweet!
Hooray for more sewing related content! I stopped teaching preschool art last July, so it's been a long time since I've watched your videos. Since then, I fully embraced all my grown-up crafting and even started my own youtube channel. I can't believe you also left the classroom! But I'm selfishly glad that it might mean I get more relevant crafty stuff from you in my feed again! You're such a great teacher and a joy to watch!
Oh, and some of those patterns might be money now. Vintage sewing is so popular, it's hard to find patterns that old just lying around in thrift stores anymore.
Also, trying to see who your Funko is. Is that Miss Yvonne?
Congratulations to YOU on your new journey!! I'll have to give your channel a follow!!
@@cassiestephens6715 Aw, thank you! I have no idea where this road leads, but there's only one way to find out!
Like you, I also love seeing the spaces others use to create. Would love to see other art areas in your home. Where you paint, craft, etc.
Once I get those cleaned, I'll share! They are all in varying stages of mess!! But I am working on them...it's a process for sure!
I love my serger!!! Threading it is a pain in the rear, but the clean edges are worth it! Thank you for sharing your space with us. From one art teacher to another, I thank you!!!
I think somethings wrong with mine, honestly! When it did work, I loved it! Yes, the perfect looking edges! BUT like you said, threading the thing! I've even had mine in a repair shop and it still isn't great. I need a class or something!
Thank you i was looking for that video.
So colorful and organized and fun!
Thank you!
Love this video!
Aw thank you!!
Thank you for filming your sewing room. I cannot wait to get my own sewing/craft room! This is very helpful and I could honestly spend hours in your craft room ha!
I could spend hours there too!! It's great to have a designated space for sure. I can leave it a mess, close the door and walk away!
I would color copy some of your favorite sewing patterns and frame the prints
What a great idea!!! Thank you!!
Love the room! Such a cute place to create.
1. I have put a needle through my finger and survived. Such a stupid thing to do and you really have to work at it to be that dumb.
2. I heavily dislike my serger. It sits and mocks me from its perch. One day I shall teach it who is boss, but today is not that day.
Love your stuff!
I'm LOLing..."you really have to work at it to be that dumb" ... well! You can say you've done it! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has a love-hate-hate-REALLY HATE relationship with my serger. I need a class! Or, like a Serger Nanny to come over and show me how to show it who's boss! ;)
WOW!!!💕
Just wanted to let you know I've had a needle go through my finger! But it really wasn't bad at all - luckily a sharp needle (always use a sharp needle 😂) so it went through so my brother in law pulled it through easily. Has happened since, though
do you think its a better use of space storing by color cut or collection?
Hi Cassie, Thanks for sharing so much content with us throughout the years. Following you for as long as I have, I know we are the same age and I have been teaching for 23 years. I am no longer feeling it… May I ask: what are your future plans? And may I comment: You Go Girl! You have courage! Whatever your plans are, I wish you the best. I feel like I’m too much of a coward to leave the profession…I just know I don’t want to learn to despise what I do.
You are so sweet! My plan is to continue teaching art but in a new way...I have some books in the works and other plans. I've hesitating sharing...I don't like to jinx things ;) BUT I hope to have more to share really soon!
@@cassiestephens6715 Thank you! I am sure it will all work out for you. I look forward to all you share with us.
Hi. I am so excited to see your space. I heard you say, you printed student work on fabric. Can you tell me what company you used? Or can you provide a website? I would love to print my artwork on some fabric but I get overwhelmed with all the companies out there? Also whats the length of the fabric? Was it affordable? How long was the delivery process? If you could already have a video about this can you share it with me? Thank you
Cassie...you probably have answered this question a 1000 times, but where can I get fabric made from my student's artwork?
It's a website called Spoonflower. What I did was photograph each work of art. Then I used Procreate (an app I have on my iPad) to put then all together in one doc. Then I uploaded that file to Spoonflower. If you have Procreate or know someone who uses it, it's very simple!
😱🤩🤩🤩👍👍👍
Are you no longer teaching?
I'm taking a break from teaching in the classroom after 25 years!
Thank you so much for all you've done to get me started in MY art career! Enjoy your new adventure!
Oh my God. The timing is scary! Are you in my head?
YES how did you know?! ;)
