You'll love this little FACT revealed in one of many documentaries during a later tour... the woman dancing in the clip for 'Sadie' on the right side (left to John) was actually in early pregnancy. She had a little girl who ended up singing backup to John on some of his tours & concerts (not one of the regular back singers).
Early in John's career resurgence he avoided his old songs but eventually (with career success) he came to embrace the old songs but he always feigned pushing back singing 'Sadie' having a bit of back and forth play with his audience.

I really like the second song called In My Room written by John himself. So cool.

Just recently, I named my latest cleaning robot 'Sadie, the Cleaning Lady', lol. As you can probably guess, the name came to me from a childhood throw back when I remember this & other songs, of John Farnham on the wireless (radio) throughout the '70's. Very happy to see you review this song here as a lifelong fan of John's here. Will keep a look out for any other reviews you might do of his. Groovy ✌

John was actually crowned in 1971 as the King of Pop by Liberace himself. Nice one boys and thank you Deb for the request. ❤ oh PS John had a malignant tumor of the oral cavity which required removal of part of his mandible (jaw bone) and reconstruction of the same.

I remember the first time I heard Johnny Farnham I was just 6 or 7 years old. My Mum who would have been around 30 and my Gran around 50. We all loved Johnny Farmham back then and have been fans ever since.
    ❤❤❤

Johnny Farnham again had success, in 1968 with both Underneath The Arches and I Don't Want to Love You reaching number 6; then in 1969 he released his cover of Harry Nilsson's song One reaching number 4, and the B. J. Thomas song Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head becoming his second number 1 hit. 1970 saw Comic Conversation reach number 10, 1971 duet with Allison Durbin 'Baby, Without You' peak at number 16. In 1972, he starred in the Australian production of Charlie Girl; then in 1974, he starred in the Australian production of Pippin. John first released his version of The Beatles classic song Help in 1980, where it reached number 8; along with his solo performance of Please Don't Ask Me, which he did a duet of with Olivia Newton John in 1998 in The Main Event Concert.

1967 seemed like 100 yrs ago. I was 6 back then. Great reaction as usual and awesome history lesson Debbie. And yes, Aussie Army is a thing. We stand behind our artists 100% and we're a force to be reckoned with.....

The second song was also written by John. Possibly the first song he ever wrote. I beleive he wrote it when he was actually only 16. But happy to be corrected

The King abd Queen of Pop came about by TV WEEK, an entertainment magazine in Australia; the award was decided by reader polls, between 1967 and 1978. John won King of Pop from 1969 to 1973, Normie Rowe was King in 1967 and 1968; in 1971 Jamie Redfern was awarded Outstanding Newcomer, and eventually crowned King in 1974. The Queen of Pop was introduced in 1973, with Colleen Hewett crowned Queen; Debbie Byrne was Queen in 1974 and 1975, then Marcia Hines was Queen from 1976 to 1978. Daryl Braithwaite was crowned King from 1975 to 1977, with John Paul Young crowned King in 1978; in 1979, the King and Queen of Pop awards were dispensed with; the awards were then known as The TV Week Countdown Awards, a show on the ABC(Australian Broadcasting Association) which was axed in 1989. By this time, the peer-voted ARIA(Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards had become the major award for popular music.

Thanks guys. That was great 🎉. I didnt realise you got his second released song In my Room with Sadie - this was the B side to the Sadie single - it's actually a very good performance because it does show how good he was from the start with no singing lessons just a few breathing lessons. Just pure natural talent. You can see he just loved it from the start.
By the way I am a paralegal and have worked in the legal industry for over 40 years. Cheers Deb

@TeacherPaulReacts Even more to talk about when you share your stories 😍 I knew you were a teacher what age do you teach? I wanted to be a teacher once but I had my children quite young and ended up helping out in their classrooms a lot, which I loved. Fellipe an Illustrator - what does he mainly illustrate? Love to see some of his work. 😊

John had mouth cancer. His surgery went for 11.5 hours with 26 surgeons and he was joking with the nurses as soon as he was able. He had to have part of his right jaw reconstructed. ❤ His first piece of solid food about 6 months after the surgery was pizza 🍕 LOL!! His excuse for pizza was "Because I Can" 😂❤

Love Johnny, John, Australia's The Voice or anything else he wants to call himself. Another artist I suggest you check out is Normie Rowe particularly his early hits. His is an interesting story, Australia had the draft or conscription to fight in the Vietman war, by way of your birth date being chosen.. Normie got called up. Years later he claims he found out that his birthday did not come up? Was it a ploy by the Government to have a top pop singer as a poster boy? Normie's singing career was definitely affected.

A lot of the early tv shows, would have the singers lip-sync to their songs; after Countdown, all artists sang live on the show.

Poor John he was so unlucky with the man who took him under his wing and became his manager....I unlike most 'hate' this song lol. But he was forced to sing these novelty songs and John's dream of singing more 'rock' etc were crushed. On the B side of the song was his own beautiful song "In My Room" I think he said he wrote that at 17 now that's our John who we all love and cherish. (shame about the 'daggy' dancers lol) Thanks guy's for taking us all down memory lane. Love your channel.

IN 1967 it was cute, soon to be “Meh”, some 60 yrs on John has had to live with the “Cringe” and had hoped Sadie had retired to that well deserved Retirement Village of obscurity. (Yeah Right!!!!!!)
