I'm glad I chose not to spend $52 for 3 tickets to see this movie. I was honestly surprised the theater was packed for a 7:00 pm showtime though.😶
I hope the people who treated the Marvels unfairly realize how good of a female led cast we had in that movie and how it came together in comparison to the poorly engineered Madame Webb cast and storyline.

Let’s all take a moment to appreciate what Sean has gone through to make this video. He bought a ticket to watch Madame Web in a theater, drove to a theater, and then watched Madame Web. After that, he had to formulate his thoughts on Madame Web. And finally, Sean shot, edited, and uploaded this review. That takes a lot of inner strength to do all of that.
That effort feels longer than making this movie honestly

This is why I trust Sean Chandler. I thought this could be a fantastic film. After hearing the reviews and Sean Chandler's review I'm going to avoid this film like the plague.

Which I think they teased a reboot for venom if I remember right from the teaser at the end
@@Kylewraps a reboot definitely doesn't need to happen this version of venom hasn't even been around for 10 years it's way to early we haven't even seen the full trilogy and the teaser didn't hint at a reboot it just shows we'll be seeing another venom in the MCU

At least Morbius had action, never thought I'd see a superhero movie where the superheros don't wear costumes, have powers, or even fight the villain really.
VENOM had the writer from 50 SHADES OF GREY (who is also directing VENOM 3)
MORBIUS had the writers from GODS OF EGYPT (Who are also behind MADAME WEB)
And KRAVEN THE HUNTER has the writers from TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT
AVI ARAD ruined everything again
And he isn't even involved in MADAME WEB
It's just desperation for Sony to keep the Spiderman license. That's why we don't get great movies & they keep hiring low class writers to produce unnecessary filler content. This movie just dropped the nail & ruined future box offices for Kraven, Venom 3, & other movies for Sony.🙄
@@KeeperProtectorhonestly I hope it does. Why should I watch and care about their movies when the studio doesn't even care. I hope enough people realize this and stop supporting these movies financially. If all of them are box office failures, hopefully it'll send a message to Sony

They wasted Riot & Carnage, Morbius was a complete waste of time, Madame Web was a huge waste of potential, Kraven idc about at all, & I don't have high hopes for Venom 3 or future Spiderman Sony movies. It's just a really lazy attempt at building out a universe to eventually have a Sony Avengers event film, but that's never gonna happen with this low effort crap.😑

I was almost fully recovered from Morbius then I saw this…back to square one.
It’s directed by the person who has only done television and no major blockbusters, written by the guys who wrote Morbius, gods of Egypt and Dracula untold and went through several re-shoots with no coherence in editing
WHAT ON EARTH WENT WRONG
Possible spoilers ahead, be warned.
This was a very frustrating movie for me because I thought the premise was really interesting, and I thought the scenes where Cassie was seeing into the future were cool and well-done, and the cinematography wasn't bad with some nice long tracking shots. But everything else was just awful. The writing, acting, editing, and dialogue were passable at best and dreadful at worst. However I did think some of the jokes were funny, and the main actresses did pretty well with the material they were given. But the most egregious flaw to me is the fact that LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE TIME they were suited up was IN THE FUTURE. And not in real time. The ENTIRE MOVIE is basically a prologue to what we really wanted to see. And this I simply cannot forgive because no way are we getting a sequel.
Feels like Sean put more effort into making this video than the creators of madame web put into the movie

As someone who’s always had a special place in my heart for Spider-Man I can’t wrap my head creating a whole universe focused on Spider-Man side characters and villains with no Spider-Man in it

Not all heroes wear capes. Thank you Sean. I remember Madame Web from the comics. A blind old woman who I believe was bound to a wheelchair. A fringe support character at best. Why did Sony make this movie?

I really like the idea of building a Spider verse with all these characters, but Sony has done a terrible job. They should stick to the animated Spiderverse films because those are amazing.
They are trying so hard to be the animated Spider-Verse and they can't.

Good point because even though Doctor Strange has a origin story that we've seen before at least that movie had visuals. It had a style and flair to it.

Thanks, man! People really have been roasting this one. But I run a blog almost exclusively based on movie reviews, and part of me was curious to check it out at matinee price so others would know how awful it is.
I feel like I'm one of the only people thats enjoyed every sony verse movie. Madame web and Morbius have there problems but they were both alot of fun to watch.
Sean thank you for reference to The X Files: “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose” I’ve been on a rewatch on that show along side “Millennium”; a series I haven’t seen all the way through. The X Files is my favorite show of all time.
Also as for Madame Web I will most likely skip this at the theater.

I actually thought it was fun, had more interaction than the gritty Morbius. It wasn't too bad but at the same time the pretty bad lines and how scenes are executed. I'd just say its more cliche
I thought it was bad, but nearly as bad as people have been making it to be.

10:02 I remember when I was living on a college campus (on the top floor of my dorm) and it faced an empty threat I locked myself in my room so not even my roommate (who was off campus for unrelated reasons) could go in it, and only went outside to go to class and eat. I acted with my agency when my college faced an empty threat than when these "characters" are actively being hunted down by a dangerous killer.
I’ll definitely be sitting this one out. I’ve never even seen a trailer. I miss the days when a superhero movie featuring a Marvel character was almost guaranteed to be good and you couldnt miss it. They lived long enough to see themselves become the villain.

From the reviews I thought it was gonna be terrible. I watched it today, and somehow, shockingly, I was kinda pleasantly surprised? Of course it wasn’t like a great movie at all, but it wasn’t terrible at all either. I had very very low expectations and literally thought it was gonna be so bad. But, it turned out alright for me in my honest opinion. And it was soooo much better than Morbius. Morbius is still my least favourite. Also I love Dakota Johnson, she was fantastic in Madame Web
I’m glad that Sean has finally come to the realization that the entire purpose of comic book movies is to tease the next movie.
I went in with low expectations and ended up really enjoying it. Some scenes looked amazing! The script was bad in spots but also quite clever in spots. The cast was good and there was some good tension. It's not a great film but I had a fun evening. Those of you that haven't actually seen the film should hold off on commenting until you have seen it.
Thus far, I have watched every marvel movies, either on cinema or on home, but I'm not sure I'll watch this one. By the way, thanks Sean for giving reviews for movies like these, so we don't have to find out how bad they are
And the thing about this review is that it's a glowing endorsement compared to the evisceration the movie is getting elsewhere. I thought it looked like what you would get if Asylum Studios did a Spiderman knock-off but without the "we-know-we-make-bad-movies-and-we-don't-care" cheap cherrfulness of Asylum.
Yea, the scene where they all talk about their parents was the worst scene for me.

Ngl when I first watched the trailer I was hyped for it. All for the fact it looked like fun with using Final Destination type tropes. But when actually watching it, while it wasn’t as bad as others said. I can’t imagine ANYONE truly enjoying this & seeing it as an actual good film. But when the funny moments hit, they hit hard 🤣

This movie reminded me of Final Destination but without the horror and without the gore. But definitely Final Destination vibes since she can predict deaths and Final Destination is like that
This was a really weird experience watching because so many of the actors delivered terrible performances at a level I don't think I've seen since the late 90s, it's reminding me of Candyman 3: Day of the Dead which might be the worst movie I've ever seen. The main villain in particular was so bad that it took me out of the movie. I went to see it because I wanted to know why this guy was wearing a Spider-Man suit (one that looks a lot like Miles Morales's suit), but nope, we didn't even get that.
Wouldn’t call it boring. No, the spectacle wasn’t big like every other superhero film. I don’t think it was meant to as it was telling her origin story. I don’t think it was meant to be fun either. I like how they didn’t try and bring every superhero in. Yes, a lot of Spider-Man Easter eggs but that’s the world she’s from. Honestly felt like it WAS trying to tell her origin story well. The acting wasn’t great, cheesy at times. The villain wasn’t great. But the scene where she went and “explored what the audience already knew” isn’t totally true. I had no idea her mom was exploring to find a cure so caught me off guard. Haven’t seen a positive word about it yet but I enjoyed it as its own film. I miss movies that don’t bring iron man , captain America, and 7 different Spider-Man’s into them. Maybe I’m an idiot but that’s just my opinion apparently! 😂

It felt like a pilot to a TV series from Fox or the CW. Imagine Queens which is ofstensively about Peter Parker as a baby but every episode is actually about Cassie, Anya, Julia and / or Mattie using their powers to fight crime. Oh and we don't know where Julia, Mattie or Anya get therir powers from. They just skip that.

No idea which movie I found worse... The Marvels, "whatever this thing was" or The Flash... They all were so boring. Superhero movies have been so bad the last 5ish years. Deadpool hopefully will finally give us a good supes movie again, but with how bad Marvel have been lately, I wouldn't be suprised DP3 wil be the worst DP movie.
I am not surprised how the movie turned out. No idea how Dakota Johnson keeps getting work. She got none of the ability of either of her parents and plays the same emotionless, monotone character in every movie. But Sony just simply has no idea what to do with these far outside Spidey characters. The ONLY reason they make these films is so they retain the rights to the Spider-Man IP. Jey, if they are willing to waste tons of money on dog crap movies...well, i guess that's one way to run a business.
Aunt May The Movie with Emma Roberts could actually be a fun watch honestly. I love her!

A movie like this is pretty much unacceptable in my eyes. It has some of the worst writing, editing, and directing I have ever seen in a superhero movie. Can;t believe we have two more movies from this universe to get through in 2024...Great review, Sean!

For some inexplicable reason, I just rewatched Elektra, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and 2015 The Fantastic Four, so Madame Web honestly didn’t seem as bad lol. Also I found The Marvels to be far more actively annoying

Just got done watching Madame Web via CAM Version & this is the worst Theatrical Released Superhero & Comic Book Movie that I've ever seen in my life. I feel terrible for a lot of the actors involved, because none of them deserve to have this movie in their filmography. Sony Pictures should be ashamed of themselves for making this movie & at this point Kevin Fiege & Marvel Studios need to take the Spider-Man rights away from Sony, because they clearly can't handle having Spider-Man or any Superhero at all.
