There truly was nothing like them and I never knew an area they wrestled in where the fans were indifferent to them. They got babyface pops and heel heat just as well. Miss guys like them in the business.

Its funny watching these 2 'grizzled' men's men wearing golden glittery capes. Funk telling Lawler he looked "ridiculous" during the empty Coliseum Brawl is one of my fav moments.
He grew into it as he got older and did become pretty good. Michael Hayes was the real mouth peace for the Free Birds but Gordy was better in the ring.
Speaking of Funk, it's a shame that he allowed that freak, Hannibal/Blood hunter slap him like he did a couple of years back! After what he did to a referee, I hope he goes to jail for it!
Every time I left Chicago to visit my Aunt and Uncle in Memphis, I wanted to watch WMC Channel 5 for two reasons. I wanted to hear that Riverboat whistle in their station identification and watch Memphis CWA Wrestling on Saturdays.

The fact that I just read rumors about about certain celebrity's going into the wwe hall of fame, who I don't even need to mention there names, but The Fabulous Freebirds aren't already in it, and aren't rumored to be a candidate this year just shows you that the wwe HOF is a damn joke, I've known it for a long time, but damn I thought this would finally be the year, and it looks as if they're gonna be ignored another year for there contributions to the wrestling business..in which they revolutionized the sport, and were the solid rock of what spawned out so many great tag teams and factions, before the group Four Horsemen, NWO, or DX...there was a group called the Fabulous Freebirds, and without them who's the say if those other groups or teams would of ever existed..such a damn shame they have been inducted

Jerry the king Lawler is one, if not the most talented wrestler of all time, I'm not talking about how much he drew(which was a lot, and way more then people know of or give him credit for, especially for staying on top in Memphis for so damn long) but over all talent, and being able to do certain stuff...Jerry Lawler is so damn talented..there really isn't anything the man can't do..anyone that disagree's or says that's untrue is just talking to hear themselves, because they really have no idea what they're talking about.
Jerry wasn't a great technical wrestler but he knew his audience In his area and he could draw. You don't stay on top for three decades without being smart
