You've got a good arm. You also throw the same way as I do, for the most part. I throw by the handle. It's faster to get the knife in the air, as well as you can put some REAL gun powder behind it. In my younger years (40 or so ago). I was able to put my knife through 7 ply, one inch thick, ply wood. I could hit a playing card 9 out 10 times , at 30' . your pretty good. Keep it up.
When i was a teenager, i would practice throwing knives whenever i could, one of the things i would do is set up a barrier and arch the throw to reach around it, could be a fun video.
Great video! I really enjoyed watching it and it seems that you had fun making it! I threw javelin in college and, of course, I threw it into all sorts of stuff. If the door glass was rolled up, I could get about 16” penetration on a Volkswagen door 😁.
Through the leather/fabric or through the sole? Without further info, it means nothing. Shoe and boot uppers are generally designed to be soft and flexible, resistant to cracking when flexed and somewhat resistant to tearing, but not to puncture, especially from pointy knives with sharp edges. Soles are designed to stop penetration of things you step on, thorns, sharp stones, small shards of glass or drawing pins etc. Step on the pointy end of an upright nail and it will go through... they aren't designed to be knife proof. 😂
Cool vid! I like seeing the calculations Seeing the spear, you could check out an atlatl, a spear thrower. It's just an extra piece of wood that helps generate more force, kind of like those tennis ball throwers for dogs. Wonder if you could do that with a knife (though it might become a no rotation thing then)
You need to try out the bigger Cold Steel throwers. I feel with less effort the biggest (pro flight sport) hit a lot harder than the small (mini) and medium sized ones (sure flight sport). I can't use them on my targets since they go too deep even with a very lackluster throw.
It would be interesting to see these tests done with one of the torsos with bone and organ analogs in it. Though I know those are pretty damn expensive so I can understand not using one.
The type of blade is important... the profile, the sharpness of the point and the edges. There is also the type and amount of clothing, the area being hit and the force it lands to consider. People can be stabbed and still function for long periods if you hit a non vital area. Even potentially fatal wounds may not immediately incapacitate a person, especially when the adrenaline is pumping, or indeed if they're on certain types of drugs. It's not like in the movies where people just drop dead instantly. 😂
Gel does not simulate a human body or flesh. No matter what shape it's in. Throwing knives are toys not weapons (when thrown). A great example of this is they never have been used in combat. Paul Harrel put this to bed years ago with axes and knives on meat targets. Not that any person possessing a modicum of deductive reasoning needed it
Excellent video. ❤ People just underestimate knives and the damage done by them by someone who is practiced. And you are practiced. Excellent tests. Unless you are on meth..... you are going to stop the fight immediately. These cuts are world ending. In 2 minutes, these wounds are life threatening, some in 30 seconds. I love your work. I love your scenery. Wherever you are, it is beautiful. It looks like where I am, the edge of SD and WY, maybe a bit south of 90. No mans land! 😅 In winter, the wind and cold are serious! Cutting.
Knives are effective weapons even in the hands of untrained users when stabbing and slashing with them. You don't have to stab with much force to pierce clothing, skin and muscle. Throwing knives at real opponents in a "fight" scenario, when under pressure in a fast moving situation, means the chances of a mis-throw or the knife being deflected off a moving target are relatively high. The downside is that you no longer have a knife and your opponent might well pick it up and use it against you. Knife throwing is an art, but it's not the most efficient or effective way to use a knife. That's why spears, darts and arrows were invented.
To some degree, yes. But the knives he is throwing, with the strength and intensity he's throwing will definitely stop a fight unless someone is on meth. If these knives penetrate without hitting a bone the person is done!
yes I tested some cow bone and most of the smaller knives poked through but the Ace Jet broke the bone and went through. so human ribs probably won't be that tough.
Hmm, few words why the case is in principle a bit not practical. As Sun Dzi said you must know yourself and your enemy (to oversimplify) which means that the armor is reflecting expectations from what it should protect from in form of a compromise which between the level of protection, restrictions in fighting abilities and available tech. Talking of a throwing knife as a potential weapon to be attacked with the probability is low (the thing is heavy if you want to have more than one "shot", reach and precision require a lot of skill if compare to a firearm or even a bow, etc) because of that I cannot even think what sort of armor and where (why breast plate, why not a helmet or greaves? Or a guantlet?) Why this medivalistic approach now we have a lot better materials and in middleages they didn't have cheap good steel throwing knives? I promise you if receiving such a blow would be a factor there were multiple ideas for protection.
Guys, let's support him? He's a great guy!
Absolutely!
@@Ars-o7e Yeah!
"I've thrown at beef before..." right as a cow walks by in the background 😅
Yeah i thought the same PERFECT TIMING 🐄 😂 👍
ha ha yeah I only throw rocks at the live ones when they get me mad.
Really underrated channel, amazing talent, man!
I follow a couple of knife throwing channels and you are the first one I see doing these experiments. Very good stuff indeed.
"I've thrown at beef before"
*nervous black cow walks by*
Great video, I like the scientific fact check. It brings the whole video to a new level. Keep it up and thank you👍🏻
I did not expected a spear! :D nice video
I like your videos, man. There is something so simple and soulful about them.
Dude how do you not have more subscribers. Instant subscribe. I love that you added your math and explain the science behind your tests
Much more power in your instinctive knife throwing than in your rotational. Good video

Bro is like John wick but on steroids
Very cool video. Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great stuff! Been working on my no spin and finally seeing some progress.
Excellent! its tons of fun when you can it most of the throws
Just found this channel. This guy's great. Keep it up!
Great info to share that jacket is pretty good that spear was a complete surprise I didn’t expect you to pull that out

That's Awesome! I've never thrown a javelin before what's the difference? and how do you throw one?
I love this channel
This is a pretty surprising result. I thought for sure all those layers would keep it from penetrating fully and sticking
Interesting that the Glock 81 knife is still being made. We had this as part of our gear at the military service (Austria).
My G I tanto goes all the way thru my old work boot that I used for target practice, I proved it in a number of videos 😎👍🗡💯

I've seen the atlatls before but haven't tried one yet. and about the knife that is an interesting idea I'm definitely going to look into it.
Damn, I like ur videos mister 🔥

I will look into them but I don't like throwing bigger knives most of the time.
Great power, a lot of joules.
Subbed. Great video
02:45 "BURRR WEEEEEN"
Maybe you should try a ballistic torso with bones.
Whew take this like and view if nothing else outta fear big man!
Goodstuff

I always thought throwing a knife was weak and not really useful but this video changed my mind. I would not want to be that dummy
I had always asked myself that question. So, in short, if you get hit straight on by a big, heavy knife, you're done, even if your clothes are thick.
Not quite. A broad tipped knife does not penetrate nearly as well. But a heavy but narrow, thin blade blade goes thru clothing easily.
The type of blade is important... the profile, the sharpness of the point and the edges. There is also the type and amount of clothing, the area being hit and the force it lands to consider. Was that and Acejet stinger air or the original Acejet Stinger
its just the stinger

can you do the realistic head with a granade?

I forgot to ask. Is that the Assegai Spear from Cold Steel? ❤
I used to have one. They're scary awesome.
Knives are effective weapons even in the hands of untrained users when stabbing and slashing with them. You don't have to stab with much force to pierce clothing, skin and muscle. Glad you liked the video! and I'm in CA but I've been to SD once. Amazing country
Let's not forget, these blades are quite pointy but aren't even sharp and if they were, the results would be even more surprising
Depends. How heavy? How competently thrown? How sharp? What is the clothing or armour? Basically: Stupid question.
Utah or Idaho?
CA actually
Ribs and bones don't create some stop? 🤔
To some degree, yes. But the knives he is throwing, with the strength and intensity he's throwing will definitely stop a fight unless someone is on meth. If these knives penetrate without hitting a bone the person is done!
@redfaux74 i think so

Note to self... buy a spear lol
