Sweetness, buttery, enfolding, pulling me down a long slope of soft powerlessness. Like a boat just drifting...maybe it was love
I felt that the first time I smelt it, and I was only 7 years old. It’s been more popular and recognisable since, but I wonder if it would still have that effect on newbies who hadn’t come across it...
Riiiiight!! "Vintage" Samsara is more of a "feeling" per-say! It's complex, unique, and hard to explain! Since it's drop in 1989, this has been my signature scent and I'm Mortified that it's been Discontinued! I appreciate this review! thanks doll!😊

I heard there is is worldwide shortage of SANDALWOOD last couple of years. ( It's very expensive when found) That's the base note for Samsara. The new perfume is not the same. Look for old bottles in the Red Bottle. Wonderful, the OLD formulation.
Love this one. I havent tried the newer versions in the rectangular bottles that are all the same. Before that, it was in the bee bottle. Prior to that, the edp and edt were in the red bottle like the original parfum was. To me the very best are the edp and edt before the red bottles, which were clear bottles with a gold cap. The sandalwood in that was the best I've ever smelled. My junior high phys ed teacher wore this. She always had a trail of it. She smelled amazing!
I blind bought the new version today at TJMaxx for $30 US. I love it! I agree that it feels grown up and something a sophisticated woman would wear. It has a beautiful silage. I feel like I’m enclosed in a lovely cloud that follows me everywhere. I’ve never smelled the old version. I’m glad you reviewed this. I was wondering what your take on it would be.
I have both edp and edt Samsara the first batch...they are wonderful. Wear the edt more often here in humid weather Jakarta, wow the sillage is huge, and very longlasting.... lovelovelove
From my experience, older perfumes often are intensified over time and have some damaged top notes. I wonder how much that accounts for the difference between the two.
Yes they do sitting in bottles after many years or under lights in stores . The description of the scents here are not spot on . It is a oriental scent .
Enjoyed your description. I have always loved this perfume. I am not pleased with knowing there is a new version so I will be mindful in finding my fall/winter scent of choice!
I finally got Samsara (new version) and really like it. Its odd but when i first smell it I'm reminded of vinatege or older smelling perfumes. I dont know why that is. But its really nice. I didn't really have many expectations as to how it would smell, but maybe I thought I'd get more vanilla. I do get creaminess though and a sense of yellow flowers. It's a really nice scent and i get why its been hyped. Not an instant favorite, but i have a feeling it will grow on me and more. Also i love the excellent sillage and lasting power. Really great!!! Glad i found this video if yours because i was so curious as to how you would describe this. I find it so hard to describe.
I used to work in a casino 20 years ago & the amount of men who asked what I was wearing was crazy. It dried down so beautifully with my skin. The new iteration is nowhere near the same. I wish I had known it was changing again so I could have stocked up.
I found a red bottle, which I believe, is the older one? Anyway, just smelled a used bottle and fell in love. Smells exotic and beauiful. 😍 Love it. I love your descriptions.
Thank you for the great review. What are your thoughts on longevity in the new EDT? I am only getting 3 hours max and a skin scent after only 30 min or so which is much different than the vintage edt which were at least 8 hours.
EDT is going to give you a light longevity due to no oil in the spray where EDP there is perfume oil where it will give you more staying power to the perfume . You can layer the body cream, wash and perfume for more lasting effects. I worked as a makeup artist for 5 lines in major department stores and actually knew most of these fragrances when they came out .
Hi dd ! I have been wearing samsara since i was 16 im now 44. I can still find the original version on line but for yrs. I have been looking for something that smells like it thats more convenient to buy in stores .in your opinion is there anything? I love the spicy woody smell about it not crazy about powdery scents but i do like it in samsara.do not like shalimar.that smells like pure baby powder to me.i know your busy but if you do know of something i can buy thats similar and more modern.pls pls.pls.let me know.thank you for this video i love your descriptions.

In Summer '22 UK. I was lucky enough pick a up bottle of Samara Eau de Toilette 100ml, which was partly used for £2.00. I did not realise what a bargain this "liquid gold" was at the time. I was buying it because I did own a small bottle in the past and really loved the distinctive smell. I have since been to a yard sale and seen a 50ml new bottle being sold for £26.00. Surely a bargain still for someone but I didn't need it.
I have work this since I was 16 and I am 42 . This review was totally off base . This is a woodsy oriental perfume. It’s not fruity , 🙄 It has sandalwood , bergamot , none of what you described. Givenchy is a very beautiful classy French line . So please give it a very beautiful classy description about it . It is not at all what you have described.

This was my very first Guerlain purchase.

I love Samsara eau de toilette which is very floral and powdery (like a violette note) on my skin, a little bit dry.
I love samsara sooo much but it offends some people lol so I quit wearing it. I’m excited to smell the new one

Estee Lauder Tuscany Per Donna is more affordable and almost an exact dup for vintage Samsara.
