    Anyone else watch these just because they're fascinating?
    I have no plans of getting a CNC machine.
    I don't want a Computer cart.
    I'm not even really that much of a DIYer.
    But i just love watching someone enjoying life, building something and explaining each step.

      Thank you! Haha yes I did. The new shop echos really bad and there wasn't a good way to avoid that for the video, so I just voiced over it. Matches up pretty nicely though!

    Wow excellent job sir . They said the rule of thumb if u using 1/4” D bit u can set the depth per pass double size the diameter . Is that right ? Also let’s say if u do it 1/2” depth how fast u can do the feed rate ? If u have a heavy duty cnc like urs ?
    Thank u

    • @ToolsToday
      @ToolsToday  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you very much. Each bit is going to have its own feeds, speeds and depth of cut info. The compression bit I used can take a 1/2" depth of cut as it is designed for it, but the downcut or upcut bits were set at 1x diameter which is generally recommended for most of our bits. The compression bit was set at 120ipm feed rate. Hope that helps

    Not a single piece of information in the plans or on here for the measurement on the drawer slides…

    • @ToolsToday
      @ToolsToday  Рік тому

      From the bottom of the cabinet to the bottom of the drawer slides, they are installed at 20.75”, 29.25” and 32.5”. Where the slides are installed really doesn’t matter too much as long as it hits the drawer that goes in that place.

    • @ToolsToday
      @ToolsToday  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you! The single smallest part is 41.5" x 18" and there are two of those, but you definitely could split this part to work on a 32"x32" cutting area. All other parts can be easily rearranged to work within that cutting area. The design is done in V-carve pro, but I do not have a video on that. I've got over 30 hours into this design, so it would have likely been a boring video 😀

      It's really hard to say how long everything takes because I'm filming everything and that adds a ton of time. The cut time for all pieces was roughly 2 hours, and if I wasn't filming everything I could probably assemble and finish everything in a day or two.

    Thanks for a great video showing how a CNC machine can be used to build a piece of furniture. Very creative! As a more "classical" cabinet maker, however, I have trouble accepting the through tenon joinery with exposed plywood end grain. Could a similar CNC machined cabinet be built with classic dado and rabbet joints? I presume the plywood sheets would have to be turned over, so the machine could work from both sides. If so, how would you register the sheet so that the cuts on the reverse side mate with those on the front?

    • @ToolsToday
      @ToolsToday  3 роки тому

      I’m glad you enjoyed it! Yes that could all be done, it just simply wouldn’t be quite as strong as the tenons shown here. You would need to machine both sides, unless you did it without the logos. To do that I would have created a fence or used some dowels into the MDF as location points so I could easily and accurately flip the work piece. I hope that helps!

    • @ToolsToday
      @ToolsToday  3 роки тому

      Basically it's just some scrap plywood that I cut down and glued together to act like a t-square. I then cut it to the length I needed and kept cutting it away for each drawer to make sure both pieces were exactly the same. I hope that helps!

    Did you use a shop vac for the cnc hold down?

    • @ToolsToday
      @ToolsToday  3 роки тому

      Kind of. It's a Fein Turbo II vac. It has two motors, one to draw suction, the other to cool the motor, so it will stay cool even without much air movement where a traditional shop vac would over heat very quickly.
