Professor Henry Jarrod is the owner and figure sculptor in a wax museum whose specialty is historic figures. When he and his business partner, Matthew Burke quarrel over the choice of exhibits displayed, Burke suggests it would be more profitable to burn down the museum in order to obtain the insurance money. As they fight, the museum burns and Jarrod is left for dead. It's not until much later at a new museum that the fate of Jarrod and the mystery of how the lifelike waxed figures are created becomes gruesomely evident.

@@paulfuray8557 Just in case you’re wondering, the movie clip here is actually from a remake of the 1932 movie “Mystery of the Wax Museum”. The 2005 version is a remake in name only, with the plot being very different than the other two movies.

I’d legitimately watch this in a cinema.
I love this one. The newer version is nothing like this. You don’t need blood, guts, and gore to make a great movie.
The new one isn't even based off of this. It's more a Tourist Trap 1979 remake.

The scariest thing of all is how no one noticed the putrefying bodys filling the place I love the suspension of reality in these old films this one in particular is a shining gem
The unmasking can bring nightmares to kids.
I saw this the 1st time when I was about 7 years old, and I found it so fascinating. Yes it was scary but I had to watch it every single time it came on after that!

if his face was supposed to be wax, how did he move his mouth and show expression? But i do love this film!
If that is the real actress who played Cathy who is standing there as the wax statue, it must have taken a great deal of precision to do that scene -- having to make her not move and everything.
The actress who played Cathy went on to become Morticia in the classic TV series, "The Addams Family."
I don't think it's actually her standing there, but they sure made this one realistic looking. And yes, that's the future Morticia Addams!
This was a Vincent Price movie. His last movie, he was the inventor of Edward Scissorhands.

Also the voice in Michael Jackson's Thriller video. One of the most creepy / recognizable voices of all time. Legend status. 💯 Vincent Price also starred in one episode of the Love Boat in the 70s , as a hypnotist . I grew up in the 70s . I liked Wolfman Jack's voice too. 😂
This is a movie where I wanted the bad guys to win. Vincent Price one of my all time favourite actors ever and Charles Bronson was great in this as well.
I was laughing at the way she hits him with the softest parts of her fists. Until his face broke off. I became quiet. Shocking stuff.

This is where it began for me as a kid born in the 60s. I was fascinated with House of Wax The original Time Machine movie. The original War of the Worlds. The old black and white movie The Incredible Shrinking Man . I love those old movies. 💯❤️ I've seen and love the remakes as well too .But I have to many memories and nostalgia associated with the older movies. You had to grow up with them to fully appreciate them. I probably wouldn't care about them if I was in my 20s today though . TBH.

Jim, it is Roger Corman's THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM (1961). I have never seen HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, except a little bit of it, years and years ago. I should check it out.. :-]

Let's face it, everything Vincent Price ever did was great. I was lucky enough to see him on stage in a one-man show as Oscar Wilde called 'Diversions and Delights'. It was the culmination of my life long fan worship.

Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933) was also great. This film was a remake of that, and I love both of them. Lionel Atwill and Vincent Price both made great villains.
