Father O'Malley (George Kennedy) gives himself over to the terrorists when Abdul (Robert Forster) calls Jewish passengers to the front of the plane.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In the very successful first appearance of several "Delta Force" action films that continued into the early '90s, this non-stop, flag-waving advocate for covert violence over diplomatic negotiations is not for those who favor gun control. Based on the real incident of a hijacking of a TWA plane in Athens that was successfully negotiated to a conclusion, this fictional version has the covert Delta Force leader Colonel Nick Alexander (Lee Marvin) team up with Major Scott McCoy (Chuck Norris) to conquer the bad guys by violence.

George Kennedy was a great actor. He is missed. Robert Forster as well
The 1st half of this movie with the hijacking was exceptional drama with top class acting and intensity. Very surprising for an action movie.
Note how the terrorist was impressed and respected the Father. He was fearless

This scene and the scene near the end where Father O'Malley gave last rights to Pete after Pete died from gunshot wounds were two of the best scenes in this movie. Wonderful performance by George Kennedy
If you look closely at Robert forsters face right after George Kennedys amazing delivery of a powerful line. I truly believe Robert forster, as a man, was truly impressed by what he just heard.
This scene always makes me cry. "If you take one of us you gotta take us all".
George Kennedy was a badass in real life. Dude fought under Patton in the Battle of the Bulge and earned two Bronze Stars. I’m a child of the 80’s so I remember his goofy turn in the Naked Gun films. His body of work is as impressive.

“Delta Force” may get chalked up as a cheesy ‘80s action flick but this film stands apart and this scene in particular. They don’t make movies like this anymore.

TheCoolProfessor this character was based off a priest who really did offer himself up as a hostage among the Jewish passengers. The real life priest will be a saint if he isn’t already.

I would give my life for men or women like that.. BTW the pilot and crew of the Air France plane hijacked (as seen in the great action movie "Raid on Entebbe" ) also refused to abandon the Jews hijacked on that plane. I have so much love for brave people like that.
BTW, I never watched this move before & thought it was just a simple 'B' movie, but this scene is surprisingly emotionally powerful and well done - it makes you so angry you want to jump through the screen and deal with those terrorist bastards yourself! G-D bless all the righteous non-Jews.

Delta Force was one hell of a movie and the soundtrack was badass!
This is an absolutely amazing scene. And with the music! It is on a whole other level than the rest of movie, which although entertaining doesn’t come close to emotional depth and impact that this scene brings.
Can you imagine being in that flight attendant’s shoes calling out the names and she’s German……..forced to bring back evil history from her nationality heritage 😢

This hijacking is based on true hijacking of TWA 847 flight. There is a similar movie, based directly on the hijacking - Uli Derricksson story
For a long time I didn't realize it was Robert Foster playing the arab. He pulled it off really well playing this character.

Quentin Williams there is no yahawashi, Jesus is from the Greek Ιησούς, as in the New Testament, which itself is from the Hebrew Aramaic ישוע (Yeshua), which in turn is from the Hebrew יהושע (Yehoshua) which is the same as Joshua. Honestly you could figure that all out just reading the Bible and seeing how the words for Joshua and Jesus are the same in Acts.7:45 and Heb.4:8. Jesus is from the tribe of Judah from the house of King David according to the promise of God.
robert forster was amazing in this movie. even though you know its him playing the bad guy in the movie. I cant see robert forster. All i can see is the Character.

I still do not understand how these hijackers managed to smuggle guns and a grenade past the X ray airports at Athens Hellenikon airport in 1985.Was security really that appalling?
I travelled through Athens airport in 1988…,not sure if they’d improved security in the intervening 3 years….I could have been taking my life in my hands!!
Athens airport was also where the Entebbe hijackers board,so obviously it had a reputation for weak security amongst terrorist groups!
They showed it earlier in the movie before the plane took off. A terrorist disguised as a member of the maintenance crew stowed the weapons in restroom. That's why the terrorists in the scene made it past airport security.

As a kid, I used to love this movie and cheered for the US. After growing up and realizing what Israel has done to Palestinians for years, I can now say it isn’t as great as it was. Now, it’s just a causality of war, which is still happening today.
But nothing would justify a hijacking situation such as this one, no? Anti-Israeli action has been linked to antisemitism and I don’t really see a time where one did not exist without the other.

Another thing to is this. Cobra came in the same year as Delta Force since then Cobra has made over $160 million in the box office which in Delta Force only made $17 million in box office. So how could be a masterpiece if it made that much money.
