Bashing professionals saying they won't use this board is crap, I am a pro and I do, maybe if you understood construction as a pro does or as the manufacture who makes the boards you would know you need to span a board at least 4 joist and it needs to be locked down and you wouldn't get the flex you got in your basement test, if installed peranufacture recommendations you won't have the issue, try reading install instructions in full and stop bashing pros and manufactures, on the positive side anyone who watches and builds your way will have a deck costing twice as much as needed and be way over built

Quote from Wolf installation guide "For best results, space 12” OC to minimize deflection". I guess you don't agree with any of these as a Pro, eh? All I know is that both companies recommend 12" OC, written black and white on the installation guide. Maybe you have misunderstood what I said, I love Azek, but what I was disappointed is that, they should have made 12" OC as minimal requirement, not a "recommendation" even for consumer deck. I did 16" OC on the first deck attached to the house and that's how I encountered the flex problem, I got way more than 4 joists and the problem is there. When I started to work on the other section, I did 12" OC and the difference was HUGE, it's rock solid. Have you actually physically walked on an Azek PVC deck with 12" OC and compare to 16" OC? Don't tell me you don't feel difference. If your customers ask for 12" OC, you just charge them more. For material on a 10x10 non-diagonal deck, you only need 3 more joists on 12" OC than 16" OC, chill bro. Thanks for this information about the joist spacing for diagonal decking. This would have escaped my attention. I’m going to use pressure treated lumber. Probably wouldn’t have noticed but if I go 10” center my ground level picture framed diagonal deck should be solid. Not sure why I am going with all this detail. No one will see it other than me and if anyone else sees it I doubt they will notice. Lol But I will notice my own workmanship😮

I hate the look of Trex and pvc decking but it’s super practical in that there’s no maintenance involved. But great video. I’d say your as good as any other licensed contractor doing the same job.
I can tell you, I love PVC on the no maintenance part. It passed 2 harsh Canadian winters already, all I did was pressure washer it in beginning of Spring and it looks like new again. My neighbor has Trex and it's maintenance free too, I had pressure treated before.... it's bad. The only wood deck material I think I want to try in my life is IPE. Both Trex and Azek are very good options. Yes, go with these 2 big names, can't go wrong with that. They have very good quality product. Sometimes, your our local hardware stores carry some deck boards brand that you have never heard of, they are cheap Made in China stuff, I would definitely avoid them.
Just thought I would add a comment. I am redoing my deck and did a lot of studying. Timbertech Azek Harvest scored among the highest ratings in Consumer Reports. They did rate the aluminum decking higher but I preferred the look of the PVC decking. I will report back when I have completed the resurfacing of my deck. It is 12" on center joists and the boards are diagonal with a center board and I will just duplicate the existing pattern. I will also use a picture frame to hide the edges.

Saw in one of your videos that you considered Azek and Wolf PVC products. Did you look at any others? How about Tivadek? Just curious.
Cool video. I'm planning to diagonal my 12" OC in the next couple weeks so will consider doing as you did for the extra bracing support. A few questions, anything indicate that Timbertech is perhaps stronger than the Azek PVC? I was set on Azek Weathered Teak. Also, can issue with the 45 degree butt joint? The instructions say not to do and I don't really know why as the point of that joint is to hide the space from contraction/expansion
Timbertech isn't a lot stronger than Azek, I got both samples. The only difference is that they have better quality pattern and color, also they are reversible. Azek PVC is very strong, I love it.
Hi. I enjoy your videos. I just had a question. If the Aztec board were screwed down across 4 joists (or more), like many of them would be, then wouldn't that resist the extreme flexing by the screws forcing the decking down on the ends? I'm sure they will still flex, but if you could try to do that experiment that would be nice. I'm choosing between this and cedar decking. But if this is a waste of time and money I understand. I discovered this problem when I did 16" OC on my first deck attached to the house, there was NOTHING I could do. That's why when I did the 2nd part and 3 part of the deck of this project, I tried to let you know my first hand experience. Azek's Brazilian Walnut (Dark tone) and Silver Oak (Light tone), I checked their web site, I can't seem to find silver oak, maybe they discontinued that. Hope that helps!

So i finished framing my deck and i am using composite deck boards. I too read the instructions from manufacture after i completed the framing. I framed the joist 16 on center instead on 12" on center. I am looking to set my boards diagonally.Is there a fix to this or do i have to remove all joists and do over? PLEASE HELP!
Sorry for late reply. If you still haven't put down the boards, I would add tons of 2x4s in between, it's better than none. Since you finished framing, re-doing isn't an option. BTW, Composite is way harder than PVC.
When you fasten the deck multiple times further out than just 1 on each side of 12” on center you gain additional strength from the entire board not being able to flex upward. Your initial test is not a true test, lacking in a real world application

We looked at some others too but either they are not within our price range or they don't have much selection. No.. we haven't looked at Tivadek.

Correct, load transfers between multiple boards make a huge difference...deflection is almost none existent.
