  • Former NHL player Adam Johnson tragically lost his life during a EIHL hockey game in the UK when Matt Petgrave got him with an ice skate. But why is all the news reporting on this seem to dance around what happened?

About 10 years ago there was an incident at a McDonald’s in my area, where a group of black teens walked into a McDonald’s, looking for trouble and wound up severely beating a white woman in front of her two toddler children. One of the teens even took a picture of her and posted it online before they jumped her with the caption saying, his buddy is about to beat up this white lady. It was a premeditated hate crime, and the news reported it as a misunderstanding leads to a fight in McDonald’s even posting a picture of the teens online picture, but blurring the words out that talked about his friend who was about to beat her up. That incident really opened my eyes to the corruption of the media.

There's been around 25 deaths (search "Ice_hockey_players_who_died_while_playing") that has EVER happened during a hockey match WORLDWIDE since the existence of hockey! That's out of the thousands of thousands of players and that's including stuff like heart attacks (ie: Viktor Blinov) and head trauma simply from falling on the ice (ie: Les Costello) where there was obviously no foul play. So unless the person is down on the ice, the chances of getting a skate to the neck/head are essentially zero unless the perpetuator did it on purpose like it happened here.

Even playing in some of the most low-life and low-skilled leagues, I never saw anything come close to this. That fact that he's played on like 20 teams in a short amount of time and leads the EIHL in PIMs just shows what he is...a goon...and not even a good one.
It is a mystery why the media was covering up for this goon...that is, until I saw the high level of melanin in his skin and now it makes perfect sense. I am sure, given enough time, they will make this about colonization or something.

I grew up in a "hockey family" where everyone played or watched hockey. My father died when he was only 35 while playing ice hockey. I was not there when it happened, but my brother was, and it deeply traumatized him. In the case of my father it was an accident and related to his heart, and we at least had the solace of knowing that everyone there tried their best to save him. But this...Even I cannot even imagine what Mr. Johnson's family must be feeling.
It also occurs to me that we can compare this to an actual accident, because it is not the first time a person has had their throat cut during a professional hockey game. In 1989 Clint Malarchuk was accidently hit in the throat with another player's skate and had his carotid artery cut, but he managed to hold his own artery closed long enough to survive. You can find footage of it right here on UA-cam. So yes it does happen, but it is very, very rare. In the case of Malarchuk it was an actual freak accident; this case with Johnson seems to be the result of pure recklessness. So I agree with the manslaughter charges because the *kick* was clearly intentional, and as a professional player he would have been aware of how dangerous that is. Maybe one could argue that it is even possible this could qualify as second-degree murder as it was a reckless and malicious act directed at a specific person with intent to at least harm them...I will defer to legal experts on this. I think the prosecutors must be fairly confident they can get at least a manslaughter conviction.

Amen to that. I played my whole life too. The only time your legs get higher than a few inches off the ice is when you're jumping the boards on a line change. That was a mixed martial arts kick hands down. It's so sick to hear all the basketball fans and others who have never even watched hockey chime in on how it was just a "freak accident". People wannabe experts but they don't know jack squat.

In my opinion, he absolutely tried to hurt him and ended up killing him. It may not be murder, although I think kicking someone above the chest with a skate knowing you could fatally injure him is a murder, but such a reckless action is at least manslaughter. And why the hell are people defending him!? 🤔Oh, I see, it's because he's black, isn't it? The way the media is covering it is an insult to the victim and his family. DISGRACEFUL!!
