Mike, Canada's favorite son. I'm so glad to see Air Canada treating you and Nicole to a special trip. I can't think of a person who deserve it more. You always find the positives. Yeah. Before everything screeched to a halt I was flying regularly to Asia and would upgrade to business whenever humanly possible. Similar 1-2-1 reverse herring bone config but no massaging seats. It was a huge difference in my ability to jump into work. Ending a 13 hour flight with a hot shower in the Cathay Pacific lounge and an iced espresso drink at the ready, I would hit the ground running.
Wow! Nice to see you & Nicole be guests on Air Canada Signature Class, Very Nice!!! You deserve it being such a positive, adventurous guy!!!! Have fun you2!!!
I love to watch your videos for so many reasons, the places, the people, the experiences... But most of all I find them comforting. Your easy manner and your regard for others. People like you make the world a better place! Thank you
Note that the little room (Concierge service) that you were checking in for your Air Canada flight is normally reserved for Aeroplan Super Elite passengers (you need to fly at least 100K miles [or 100 flight segments] a year on Air Canada and/or their Star Alliance partners and spend $25,000/year with Air Canada to get it). Normal Signature Class passengers check-in in the area immediately outside that room. Also, the personal escorts from check in to lounge and from arrival in London to baggage claim is part of Air Canada's Concierge service offering that is normally reserved for Super Elites as well. Normal Signature Class passengers while they still get "FastTrack" immigration in London, still need to walk themselves.
The video was not sponsored by Air Canada but they were 'gifted; the tickets. They were allowed that special check in. They were given a tour of aircraft areas not accessible to passengers such as the crew rest areas and cockpit. Signature class looks like a pretty standard business class to me. Nothing special.
@@Ben-xe8ps came here to say the same! Not sponsored lol. And yeah, looks quite standard for Business Class too. I just had a couple of flights in Oman Air's Apex suites (Business) and they were way better than this!
This makes me want to travel more often. The plane is undeniably huge. Thanks, Mike for taking us along. It is good to see you bring your best pal along for the trip.
One of the things I love most about your channel are the every-person experiences you bring us. You travel like the majority of folks do and would. So many channels only show elite luxurious accommodations... But every once and a while, it's a joy to see y'all living it up! You deserve it!
I got to use the Signature lounge at YYZ once before a flight to Asia and it blew me away. Fine dining and champagne for free before hopping on a 15-hour flight *chef's kiss*
It certainly makes the prospect of long haul flights something to look forward to, rather than endure! It makes travelling with children a whole different story, too!
Yes indeed it is! I had to fly a lot for work in the past (more than 200 hours in some years! Most long haul), all in Economy and I used to hate it. Everything hurt, I was jet lagged and half death. In my new job all flights > 4 h are in Business class and even private I can't go back to Economy anymore! Now I'm always really looking forward to all these flights. I could literally live on board, especially the Emirates A380 with bar 😂
Oh wow, I really did not know 1st class was like this. It was so good to see Nicole. I couldn't think of anyone more deserving of being spoiled then Nicole. I enjoyed your video. I loved how Nicole was really liking her space on the plane. So happy you both enjoyed this really amazing experience. Thanks for sharing it. Looking forward to your next video.
This isn't even first class. "Signature Class" is a business class (J class). AC doesn't have a first class. An actual first class airline is even better.
I didn’t consider that the rest of the world out side of the USA was still wearing masks. I honestly forgot about the coronavirus here in Pennsylvania. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Not here in th U.K. buddy. I’ve been to many places in Europe and even to Korea. Not a single mask worn at any time (except on the ground in Korea, and when they think no one’s looking, no one wears them). It’s pretty clear from reviewing a lot of papers, the benefits are not there. No idea why Canada persists. In the U.K. once the whole PMs party thing came out everyone forgot about Covid and it hasn’t really featured in daily life since. We’re all still here and now more people are dying from other things like missed cancer diagnosis. We’ve made some big problems for ourselves with the response to Covid.
FYI the airbag is common in business, first and a lot of the bulkhead seats. Basically, in other economy seats, there's a "front stop" to prevent passengers from getting swong too much forward during impact breaking spines or cause sub-abdominal injuries from the seatbelt. But for seats where's there is too much space in front, that protection doesn't exist. That's why a lot of the airlines now offer airbags in those seats.
You bringing all those heavy bags onto the SkyTrain like: *"Tis but a scratch"* I'm sorry, but every time I see Bao now...I can't help but think of that emotional Pixar short 😂😭But wow is that signature suite an experience from having your own cart to a planespotters' fine dining. They really go above and beyond in that lounge. And the 777 itself is pretty cool with that glimpse of where the pilots and flight attendants all sleep during long-hauls. Also, that espresso is NOTHING compared to Cuban espresso. Cuban espresso is easily some of the strongest stuff on Earth!
I've been in economy class with airbags too. It's not the same as what you'd expect in cars, its a light explosive and only meant to inflate a bag on top of the normal belt to help dissipate the force onto a bigger surface area
It's been more than a year since I started watching your video from covid lockdown and you're one of my favourite vlogger your content is so unique I don't have words to describe your content and hardworking efforts for every vlog. Wish you the best for your journey and keep exploring!
The Champagne name can only be used if the grapes and wines are produced under strict control in the French region of Champagne. So both that Moët champagne you had in the signature lounge and the one you had on the plane ARE both Champagne. French sparkling wine made outside Champagne is called Crémant. And cheese is love, cheese is life. So you can't go wrong with a cheese plate! Fell in love with that stuff ever since I lived in Switzerland.
The best part of this video was the image of your wife in the restaurant sitting in front of the sunny window alone. She looked completely at ease. She looked as content as can be. Great video. Your positivity is infectious.

I want to also recommend the Signature lounge in Toronto. So much better than the insanity at the gates. It was so quiet and private, that our then 6-week-old took her nap at the table while we ate. They also provided us fancy water for her bottle and had a lovely changing table in the bathroom.
I am a YVR based in flight service director (aka purser) and your fan! It would've made my day if you were on my flight for this video but oh well, maybe next time :P Glad you enjoyed the experience.

The entire time I'm thinking this is soo nice it must be crazy expensive, but then they got priority through custom and I'm thinking this is worth any price. 🤩 Mike, you may have out down yourself, Nicole was giving the "if you treat me to anything less amazing, I'm leaving you" look. 🤣
Honestly, this was a lovely review to watch. We are flying Signature Class next year to Japan and I can't wait to stay awake and experience all of the little things that make travelling this way so special. Seeing it from your perspective was relatable to me as I am sure I'll react the same way as you!
Michael - As a former frequent flyer who always appreciated the "upgrades" you have shown a totally new level in travel and it is outstanding. I would love to know how to access Nicole's podcasts too!!! I just found your channel on your last video about trains and it was BEYOND EXCELLENT! - Laura in NW FL
Somebody mentioned one such trip is about 17k USD, and while that was a seriously amazing experience to see, this equals about 7 or 8 California Zephyr whole-length trips in the Bedroom... as a railfan... I have my favorite :D Lovely vid nonetheless
Great video! I was excited when I saw the thumbnail thinking that AC had upgraded to actual suites on the plane, but the beds you're showing are the staff beds. Glad you got to experience this and appreciate your comprehensive review.
I'm die-hard United when traveling for work and domestically, but I just had my first Air Canada experience to Dublin a few weeks ago and absolutely LOVE everything they offer. I'm gonna be a quick ball-buster and say that the first time I saw an airbag on my seat-belt was with Frontier, the closest competitor to Spirit you'll ever find.
I didnt realize they were going to introduce the service this year. i was thinking more like next year. It's good they are ahead of schedule. PS I LOVE the Skytrain.
Honestly, i have discovered you a few days ago, and you are the best travel channel i’ve ever seen. You have that genuine travel feel while also having a love for unusual transportation. I just watched your train series and my god i love trains.
Really refreshing to see a business class review by someone who has never experienced it before. As a Canadian in England I wish you a good trip to london:)
We don't have 'customs lines' in the UK. Another one who doesn't know the difference between immigration (passport control) and customs. Please learn correct terminology. In the UK we have red/green channels for customs after baggage reclaim and, assuming you have nothing to declare in which case you enter the red channel to make your declaration, you just walk through the green channel unless stopped by a customs officer.
@@Ben-xe8ps your UK terminology has nothing to do with not knowing what you people refer to. For you saying that shows how obnoxious and ignorant you are! The whole world does not use your UK terminology!
I take the Skytrain to the airport with my cat. It is hands down the easiest, fastest, best way to get there. I don't even have to take the cat backpack off my back or pull the luggage inside a taxi trunk. I love it. 👍 Oh and they don't always do it but last time they gave us priority boarding (on Economy) because i was with my cat! I was the first person on the plane LOL. It felt so great! Like we were royalty.
I have flowin with Air Canada several times from/to Canada-Europe and it is a great experience with fantastic people. All the best from Nuuk, Greenland.
I find it hilarious when those who aren’t the first class type, have the opportunity to get a taste of it. I’m not at all the first class type either and whenever I get the opportunity to be in it, usually something disastrous happens. I’m pretty much like Mia on The Princess Diaries. Though I haven’t broken anything at least.🤣
What an incredible exclusive experience! Riding the SkyTrain and watching the classics is what I would do,and sipping champagne at 30,000 feet sounds perfect.
Great spectacular video, & thanks for sharing, Downielive!!!! You & your partner have an awesome time on your wonderful journey!!!! Cheers & stay safe!!!!🥰🥰🦅🦅
There’s a lot individuals doing airline reviews for business or first class flights. Most of them are boring and lack really good detail or decent commentary. Yours was FIRST CLASS.
Wow you definitely were lucky with that gift from Air Canada. I totally agree, once you fly anything higher than Economy (Plus), you never want to go back. First time I tried just Business class for a long-haul flight from Zurich to Miami, it's been night and day. And once I flew back with Economy again, I got food poisoning LOL. No joke. 😂 Glad you had a really awesome experience.
What a great experience for sure. My first time, I stayed awake during the entire flight to enjoy all that it had to offer too. Keep enjoying the moments......
Sadly, this is travel for the rich and famous; you and Nichole were truly blessed to get this chance to see how the other half lives. How much would this plane flight cost if you had booked it yourself? We are all intrigued and want to know. Great to see Nicole, again; lovely as ever.
What an awesome "gift" from the airline. I know I will never get to fly 1st class, so thanks for sharing a great experience. Bet it felt good to be spoiled so nicely.
They didn't get to fly First Class either, just a pretty average business class with a few extras such as the buggy thrown in to be filmed as part of the promotional freebie.
I'll never forget the experience when I flew to Newark and did US Customs in less than 1 minute last year while transiting in Toronto and the same to Ottawa on Air Canada. Best part was that my luggage was in Ottawa already two hours ahead of my scheduled departure from Toronto to Ottawa.
I've been saving up for years to be able to afford a business class ticket come february on a long haul flight. And I'm so worried it'll ruin economy for me as well. That said, I'm glad you both got to experience it and take us along with you. If time and ticket prices permit, I'd love to see you do more videos like these on other airlines, much like you do your train videos! Thank you for another great video!
I'm following a bunch of travel channels and a few channels that review different types of flights and that's so fun! However, what makes this so lovely is that all you see from the littlest things to the fancier ones makes you truly happy. Wow, what an amazing gift from aircanada, and to allow your real review!
I'm so glad you got to enjoy a little bit of pampering and a LOT more elbow room! 👍👍 Thank you Air Canada!
I want to also recommend the Signature lounge in Toronto. So much better than the insanity at the gates.
It was so quiet and private, that our then 6-week-old took her nap at the table while we ate. They also provided us fancy water for her bottle and had a lovely changing table in the bathroom.
My dad was a pilot on the 777 and he absolutely loved everything about it including the bunks 😁🛫
I am a YVR based in flight service director (aka purser) and your fan! It would've made my day if you were on my flight for this video but oh well, maybe next time :P Glad you enjoyed the experience.
Next time!
I‘ve just recently discovered your channel but I gotta say, your positive vibe and person is absolutely contagious! so good how you can put smiles on people’s faces through a vlog haha love it - cheers mate
The entire time I'm thinking this is soo nice it must be crazy expensive, but then they got priority through custom and I'm thinking this is worth any price. 🤩
Mike, you may have out down yourself, Nicole was giving the "if you treat me to anything less amazing, I'm leaving you" look. 🤣
How does 17 thousand dollars sound per passenger?
Honestly, this was a lovely review to watch. We are flying Signature Class next year to Japan and I can't wait to stay awake and experience all of the little things that make travelling this way so special. Seeing it from your perspective was relatable to me as I am sure I'll react the same way as you!
Michael - As a former frequent flyer who always appreciated the "upgrades" you have shown a totally new level in travel and it is outstanding. I would love to know how to access Nicole's podcasts too!!! I just found your channel on your last video about trains and it was BEYOND EXCELLENT! - Laura in NW FL
That's posh, looks like a nice experience!
Looking forward to see your canal boating!
What a divine travel experience.. Air Canada just landed a new customer or two! ✨🤩
Thank you, Mike. I totally agree about not wanting to fall asleep when there's so much to enjoy and explore.
Somebody mentioned one such trip is about 17k USD, and while that was a seriously amazing experience to see, this equals about 7 or 8 California Zephyr whole-length trips in the Bedroom... as a railfan... I have my favorite :D Lovely vid nonetheless
NO it's not. This is only business class, not First Class. Nothing like that sort of price.
Can't wait for Downie Travels by boat next Saturday. Great video.
It’s amazing how well you are able to cancel out the plane audio
Great video! I was excited when I saw the thumbnail thinking that AC had upgraded to actual suites on the plane, but the beds you're showing are the staff beds. Glad you got to experience this and appreciate your comprehensive review.
Thanks a lot!
You're a great ambassador for Canada 🇨🇦
I'm die-hard United when traveling for work and domestically, but I just had my first Air Canada experience to Dublin a few weeks ago and absolutely LOVE everything they offer. I'm gonna be a quick ball-buster and say that the first time I saw an airbag on my seat-belt was with Frontier, the closest competitor to Spirit you'll ever find.
I didnt realize they were going to introduce the service this year. i was thinking more like next year. It's good they are ahead of schedule. PS I LOVE the Skytrain.
The sky train really is the best way to get to the airport…if your limo isn’t available.
Can never go wrong with the classics. Especially blues brothers.
Getting through customs so quickly is unbelievable.
Another great video! Glad to see your better half with you. :) I'm glad I was "with you" ~~~much love to you both 💕💕💕
I take the Skytrain to the airport with my cat.
Good to know!
No they didn't actually. This is NOT First Class. It is business class and a pretty average business class at that.
Neat plane and suite. Nice getaway with your girlfriend too. Have fun in the uk. Thanks for the tour
These are the kind of videos I like. Honest reviews not that artificial sponsored bs where they have to lie about the product
There’s a lot individuals doing airline reviews for business or first class flights. Most of them are boring and lack really good detail or decent commentary. Yours was FIRST CLASS.
I’ve had similar experiences with Virgin Airways. I was spoiled for a long time and was always so grateful. Hooray for you two!
Another fantastic video! ❤️
No joke. 😂
Glad you had a really awesome experience.
Mike with the consistent inspiration love this man
Given the whole vibe of the First Class Lounge, you can’t feel anything but the ‘Wright Feeling’.
It is just a guess, but it would probably be in the area of $ 2500.00 per person.
It’s $3254 to travel one way on the day he travelled on a round trip itinerary
Good question, Lyn. The flight one-way per person cost $9,000 I believe.
sign up for a credit card and anyone can do this. im flying JAL business class SKY SUITE from Dallas to Tokyo for free next week
Around C$11,000 (and up) pp round trip Vancouver to London
That was great and you both enjoyed the trip safe travels
Always watch out for last-minute paid upgrade opportunities when you check-in! It's often only about 25% of the actual business class ticket price!
I hope so too!
I love that you haven't become one big commercial for travel companies and so we can get honest assessments!
I'm following a bunch of travel channels and a few channels that review different types of flights and that's so fun! However, what makes this so lovely is that all you see from the littlest things to the fancier ones makes you truly happy. Your appreciation is felt over the ocean, through the screen to my home in Gothenburg, Sweden . It feels honest and warm. Thank you! Hope you have an amazing stay in London too. :-D I wish that I could fly like that once it would be a crazy cool experience. :-D
The interactions with the lounge, the cabin and flight crew, is just so quintessentially... Canadian!! There's no place like home.
Thank you Michael. You always take us to a happy place. 😊😊
The service looked so good. Keep smiling bro. 🙂🥂
So glad you came to England!
I fly AC Signature all the time. Always worth it. Really nice video.
I love the enthusiasm. And a positive attitude.
Well that was fun! I can’t wait for the canal trip too! It’s been on my dream list for a while!
