So 165km is only just over 100miles? Even in cold, that isn’t a particularly great range! I’d need much better if I’m to consider spending £35-40k to go electric.

If you press the button on the windshield wiper it should show battery percentage

Great video :) Thanks! I have this car and have seen a significant drop in the last few weeks with extreme cold weather here in Bergen. But it is great to know what to expect in these conditions

Interesting test. Looking forward you to test the Citroën eC4 based on same PSA platform but slightly more efficient since more aerodynamic.

Nice video. I think you should do your test with obd connected so you can also have battery temperature data in the video. I did find that it is more important for range then outside temp. And also you get soc percentage.

Good decision to have the same starting- and ending point. 👍 Bad thing is that now you have to redo the other cold weather tests.. 😜

I live in southern sweden, raining quite often so hard to say if that effect the range, but cold do that definitely, and it's not too often really cold in this part of sweden, but the last days have been below 0 degrees and down to minus 12... And that have really affect the range. Not too much but noticeable. I drive a Zoe. I drove 200km the other day and normally I can do that in a single charge, this trip the temperature where around minus 5 degrees, and I had to stop for a 10-15minutes charge.

Nice video, as always. It could be that rain just above freezing point cools down a car more than dry subzero air. Which would make the HVAC run harder. Let's see if there's a HVAC specialist in the comments.

If cold weather is worse than wet surface, I don’t know.. Depends just _how_ wet, and how cold it is. 🙂 Also depends on the shape of the car, speed and tire width/type. The combination is really bad, that’s for sure.
My experience is that 0 degrees Celsius (32F) and very wet can be just as bad as -20 (-4F). Then it’s always dry. Salt stops to work around -7. Most likely also no wind, with some exceptions.
If you add wind to the equation, you can get winter like consumption even in summer, if it’s also wet.

I'd be interested to know if air pressure also plays a part. Sometimes I do the same journey in the same conditions (dry and cold, no wind for example) but achieve different efficiency for each journey. Feels like there's something else at play.

On the 1st stop.45,000Kwh/265wh = 169km range. So you had about 28km of range left.
On the 2nd stop I calculated you had set off with about 33,75Kwh, which gave you a max range of 130km.
YOLO all the way Kris :D

Now I'm convinced, you deserve to be a ninja driver, so low SoC, 5% and 0% by the car. You 're the new king. Bjorn is getting beaten by the new generation.
    Keep on doing great job.
Disappointed about the range, 200km is a no brainer but less than 50kwh EV is really city driving. Because speed on highway in Belgium is 120 and my typical speed on odometer is 125 ( real speed 120km and save for speedtraps 😉). Bit some stretches are at 135km/u. That would not be possible.
Did a 320km trip today ( 80% autobahn andrest 90/ 70 stretches) but passed 3 X ionity. But 1st= too short ( after 50km) , 2nd after 200km ( too far) and 3rd after 270 ish. ( same as first one but in other direction).
Problem : Lidl ( sort of Circle K store) are out of work when shop is closed ( on Sundays and openinghours) , but otherwise for free when shop is open. And that one = 50kW charger was ideally located , after 170km.

Nice video.I have been driving ev cars for over 30 years. It is wet road and headwind that take most power.Below 10 C degrees it
start to incline power also.Over 10 degress its no big deal..But the most powerdrain you can find is uphill, they are terrible and the
downhill does not compensate att all.

Why are you in B-mode because it will slow you down going downhills too much so you loose power? B-mode is only for city centres.

    • @Sofala

I have to agree B mode would effect the range.

Studying much about "what EV to buy" I think the main important feature of EV is degradation of battery. Unfortunately i can't find any degradation statistics of the CATL(China) battery in PSA models :-) IDx with LG(S.Korea) are not the champion at all regarding degradation, Tesla 3 is better and winner is Niro with SK Innovation(S.Korea) battery... :-)

Just 100 kph is pretty slow. How about the range with heater on at 21c. and doing 120 kph.? Unlikely to get 150 km. range. Also that heavy charging cable cc ould cause an accident as no cover over the facility. To sum up EV's are pathetic. The price for charging is generally more than for an efficient petrol or diesel as charging costs are becoming excessive. Then factor in the waiting in the cold and wet for the unreliable chargers and excessive weight and purchase Cost of an EV . Complete and total load of crap. I rest my case.
