    Yes I can confirm it more or less. I get closer to 250 km - but then your conditions were really checking all the bad boxes at once.
    In more summer-like conditions (as summerly as Denmark can be late October) it gets almost 350 km of range. I would assume real 25°C no wind country roads brings it above 400 km - but I haven't had the chance yet.

    I find wet slushy roads effect consumption more than tempreture, l suspect it's the high rolling resistance. My tactic is set cabin tempreture to 17°C to keep windows clear etc, then have heated seat & stearing wheel on. This seems to help a lot & l really am very comfortable, this of course only works if l am on my own, otherwise it's 24°C!

    Did you check the trip length on Google? Some id3 underestimate trip length, that would even lower consumption. But I think it depends on the wheels...
    Nice video and nice car, love my ID 3 max, only the ultra short trip consumption in Winter should improve.

    Nice test Kris. I can see it is the 1st edition, but is it the plain, plus or max? By the way, next time the snow are building up in the front, the sensors are not in the VW logo, but in the panel just above the numberplate. Looking forward to the next tests of the ID.3. I love my 1st Max.

      It does not have the HUD cutout but has the better seat style and Matrix LED eyes, so it is the Plus.

    VW did impressive with the charge rate, the Tesla model at 63% was 40KW while the ID 3. was over 60KW at a similar state of charge, well done VW and thanks Chris, even though the ID3 is not coming to Canada (at least not yet) the ID 4 should have even better results on charging with the larger battery!

      It was a Model 3, The model S does not have a CCS plug and therefore couldn’t have use that charger, unless he had one of those rather expensive adapters.

  • @anderspersson6134
    @anderspersson6134 3 роки тому +4

    Wow it charges really fast! Been kind of disappointed in winter consumption but maybe its not so bad? Should one worry about battery degradation with this kind of charging speed? It almost seems too good to be true at this price point. Keep it up Kris👍

    • @omelvold
      @omelvold 3 роки тому +1

      I don’t think the consumption is _that_ bad, considering the conditions and the average speed which is well above 100 km/h. (It drops whenever stationary, even if the car is in Park..) There’s also some elevation here, and very easy terrain on the last leg that Kris was missing out on. I would expect the average consumption to drop 5-10% if he was able to drive back to the starting point.
      I wonder if the car did some preheating too, to be able to achieve 100 kW right away like that? That would increase the consumption.. Anyways, I wouldn’t worry about degradation, as long as you don’t fast charge too often. It tapers off soon enough, and from what I know from the e-tron, the battery doesn’t get half as hot as eg. the Model 3.

  • @abraxastulammo9940
    @abraxastulammo9940 3 роки тому +1

    Wow, it charges twice as fast as Tesla! 😁
    You have been lucky with this interesting 225 kW charger, since Tesla used only one 75 kW power module you got the other 2x 75 kW for full speed.
    Interesting rims, too.

    • @omelvold
      @omelvold 3 роки тому

      Interesting. I’ve been having problems with this kind of chargers with the e-tron, getting only 75 kW even if the other car connected (non Tesla) draws less than 50 kW. Leaving more than 100 kW unused. It also seems to have problems freeing up the other modules when one car leaves. At least the ones fitted with Chademo.

      Indeed, seems to have been averaging 41 kW (gross). That’s what you never hear about. 😉 Doesn’t matter if to the owner if he/she is busy eating though. Except that it will generate queues.. That’s why the operators should charge by the minute, and by the minute only. 1 EUR / 1,2 USD / 10 NOK is appropriate during busy hours.

    VW has a nasty habit in pushing products onto the market, which have not been fully tested/developed yet. Just wait a couple of years and then the EV's from VW will hopefully give less trouble... (and have a lower salesprice!).

  • @matthiasmuller5173
    @matthiasmuller5173 3 роки тому

    I find the range at the speed disappointing. The ID.3 is therefore more of a car for the city than for longer journeys, on which speeds of up to 130 km / h are sometimes driven. Flowed off my list, also because it looks a bit cheap to me in the interior and I don't like VW's package philosophy.

    • @verygoodbrother

      130 km/h when it's snowing?

    • @matthiasmuller5173
      @matthiasmuller5173 10 місяців тому

      @@verygoodbrother I probably didn't make myself clear, it's about the consumption at 130km/h, which I think is too high, at low temperatures the consumption becomes even higher, so you won't get far with the ID.3 and you'll be stuck with the charging curve at the charging station for a long time.

  • @FFE-js2zp

    It needs ro charge in 2 mins. That how long we had electric power over the 5 days EVs took down the Texas grid.
