Nick Getz, son of iconic jazz saxophonist Stan Getz, celebrates his family collaboration on our definitive edition of Stan’s legendary jazz classic Getz/Gilberto!
Joined by Brazilian music artists João Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Sebastião Neto, Milton Banana, and most famously, Astrid Gilberto (the voice of "The Girl From Ipanema"), they artfully blended Brazilian Samba and Bossa Nova with American jazz into a singular musical statement of incalculable popularity and influence.
Nick sends us out with anecdotes about growing up in a house filled with music and friendships with some of jazz's all-time greats.

I got the Impex Gilberto/Getz and it's mind blowing good!
I bought a stereo re-press or a re-release on Verve records a couple of years ago at my local records store. I absolutely love it. No question it's my favorite jazz album.
Saw Stan in 1966-67 at the Rainbow Grill NYC and had him sign my "Sweet Rain" album. Then I saw him in 1968 in Boston at a club. I also saw him in NYC at Carnegie Hall. I then saw him at a club in the Village in NYC and when he came on stage he looked at me and nodded hello! I was blown away. Somehow, he remembered my face so I guess he did have a photographic memory! My favorite Sax player! I have all his albums!
Sounds like his dad. Saw Stan live in Vancouver in the seventies when pianist Albert Daily was with him. Getz was a master!
