- Parotitis. The parotid gland can become inflamed. Normally it produces saliva. Blockage can cause it to swell and become tender. Treatment includes warm compresses, hydration, lemon drops and sometimes antibiotics prescribed by healthcare providers.

I once had mumps 5 years ago I didn't get it properly treated, my face has been swollen ever since like you would see in a sialosis patient. It concerns me so much now

It’s my first time what should I do
I might have this. Sometimes its mistaken for TMJ pain. Hurts to open my mouth wide and my inner cheek is visibly swollen. Im taking oral antibiotics so hopefully it helps.

Watch out for oral cancer. My brother was just diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma and I have the same markings and symptoms in my mouth as he did and also have lumps and swelling everywhere. Have not had a biopsy yet. I have lumps, tho, in cheek, jawline , neck, forehead, top left side of head and behind ears. Also have them all over my body now. They often hurt when they are growing but when they stop for a bit they stop hurting unless pressed. My brother only felt mild discomfort in his cheek and back molar area so he went to the oral surgeon to see about getting his wisdom teeth removed. That’s when they found white tooth impressions inside the cheek and a little tiny bit of white flesh back behind the back molar. He just had surgery and they had to cut from his lip to behind his ear and give him skin and blood vessel grafts from both his arm and thigh. They took 100% of the skin and tissue down to the tendons off the arm for the graph. They had to cut the jaw in half, severing a nerve and put a steel bar in his jaw to stabilize it. They found and addtl lymph node w cancer, but waiting to talk to the doc to see how things are and if he will need chemo and radiation. He has a little girl and a wife and this is putting an extreme strain on them. At least 1 year for recovery. Not trying to scare. Just make sure you get checked out good! ❤

My parotid glands are swollen because of autoimmune disease. I take 40 mg Leflunomide daily. Can I massage glands w a little warm castor oil?? Maybe will start saliva flowing again?

Overnight painless parotid lump is there since 20 days, no increase or decrease in size , swelling also not reduced after taking oral antibiotics, steroid and nsaids. What it can be Sir ?

That is a great question. The parotid gland produces saliva, and production can increase after meals. Only an evaluation with a healthcare provider will provide you with information specific to you.

Hi I was just in the er last night and they say I have this salivary stone.. im freaking out I get married in 8 days.. do you know how long this swelling should last the whole side of my face is swollen and painful. I had a fever last night in the er they sent me home and said they continue with antibiotics and Motrin and Tylenol and also suck on the sour candy... They said to see an ENT which they can't get me in until Monday.. my question is if the swelling is not down by Monday is there something they can do at the Ents office to have the swelling down by the end of the week? Hi I'm sorry to hear you're going through this.. I'm going to say it was about 5 days or so it went away in time for the wedding thank God! I pray for you that it goes away quick ! the ER Dr told me believe it or not to add the heating pad on it and rotate with ice packs and just suck on those lemon sour candies alot and drink water... It was real strange I never knew something like this even happens . but I have hope it will go away for you just like it did me... I wish you the absolute best of luck that it goes away fast!! How many days till your wedding?

You have to be more specific if you have an infection in the mouth like a tooth it will give you this if you’re sick and have a cold you might get this. It could be a lot of things I’ve had this issue, but it’s because I have an infected tooth.
