This video is legitimately a life saver. I was actually petrified when my neck starting swelling. I followed steps 1-3 and the stone came out within two days. It was gross, lol, but I’m so thankful.
@@yvetteschaerer Just now coming back and seeing this. It was the size of a crumb of toast...I kid you not. I was shocked and also annoyed that something so small could cause so much discomfort and pain. I increased my water intake for two days and was in the process of the throat massage when it sort of "popped" (so gross!) and expelled itself. What followed can only be described as a rush of relatively salty water (accompanied with a somewhat metallic taste but there was no blood). The swelling went down within the hour and the pain relief was immediate. Side note: not sure what you mean by squeeze, but in my follow up with an ENT, I would say do not under any circumstances try to squeeze this out like a pimple.
Thank you SO much for taking the time to put out this video to help us with this! I have this right now. At first I thought it was a tooth infection - went to the dentist and was put on antibiotics but within 3 days the swelling and pain had spread and gotten much worse so I went back to the dentist and they were floored - told me I needed to go the ER for a surgical drain. I was completely freaking out, afraid it was full of infection and would rupture inside my jaw! So off to the ER I went, they did a CT Scan and discovered it was this blocked Salivary Gland and that there isn't any infection. Boy was I glad to hear that but let me tell you, this thing hurts! I just now got home from the ER and looked it up and now here I am. I haven't been able to eat or sleep in 3 days and swallowing hurts terribly but I will definitely go through that to drink lots of water starting right now! Calling the ENT doc tomorrow. This has been a crazy 3 days but I'm so glad to know what it is now and that it's NOT a big abscess full of "infection" that could burst at any moment!
Di plz mujhe bhot saliva aata hai in my mouth plz tell me that how did you reduce it because I am facing this problem since 5-6years now I am fed of this problem .plz di help me it's very kind of you 🙏🙏🙏🙏
GUYS this worked wonders for me!! If you’re having pain below your ear and near the jaw/cheek area, do the warm compress and the massage he did. I ate some candies and randomly at 8PM the same night (day after the swell) I tasted salty liquid and it emptied out into my mouth
I Have had this happen to me a few times..no stones but swollen glands..these are the symptoms..painful ear, jaw, teeth, gums and neck on 1 side this can mask itself as a tooth infection but one way to tell is to feel in between ur gum and jaw..if u feel lumps on the outside or inside of the where ur jaw meets ur gums at the bottom inside..if u push lightly on them and they hurt..it could be the gland and not a tooth infection..u can feel its swollen if u do the same thing on the other side and there is no bumps..or if u lightly press on ur cheek in a downward motion and u can feel a bump like a under the skin pimple..once its starts u will have slight swelling on the infected or irritated side..once u start feeling this immediately start treatment..these massages work..do them several times a day..heating pad on that side often., lemon sugar free candy often...rest rest and again rest..drink lots of water..gargle with salt water 3 times a day..eat soft food for a few days..I took 1300mg of ibuprofen ( that's alot I know but for 3 days it's never done me wrong anything to relieve the pain right?) The 1st 3 days once it starts will be absolute hell with the pain..but u should start seeing improvements by the 3rd day..if u have done all these things and swelling and pain has not gotten better SEE UR DOC..
I feel I have this. I will try it because I getting pain in my gums have no hole in the tooth but swelling in the gum, ear pain, neck pain and head hurts.
This has happened to me three different times. All three times, it started up on days when I was busy and forgot to eat or drink anything until the evening. Staying hydrated is so important. My ENT told me to eat very plain foods when my salivary gland is blocked. I tried eating a lemonhead once when my gland was inflamed, it swelled up huge and hurt like hell, never again. He did recommend massaging the gland, warm compresses, and drinking plenty of water though.
I heard rubbing apple Cider Vinegar on it would help with swelling, and it increased my swollen. The next day I went to see my doctor and they gave my medicine, it helped a little, but of course not completely. Glad I came across this video and your comment. 😁
Hey, I’m having this problem right now for 2 weeks non stop, sometimes it get worse and sometimes I forget about it. I have been on a diet and eating less and sometimes I tried skipping meals and then this happened to me. I went to the doctor and he said that my throat was healthy and that there wasn’t anything wrong. How long did it stay when it happened to you and what did you do to make it stop?
@@Dania-s3z Pretty much everything I said in the above comment. Drink lots of water, eat really plain, bland foods, (mashed potatoes, rice, etc), and use a warm compress. After several days, if this doesn't take care of the issue, you might need to get a prescription for antibiotics and steroids. Go see an Ear, nose, and throat doctor if you can. Your primary care doc probably doesn't have any experience with clogged salivary glands. If you have to go back to him/her bring info to make them understand. If it will take you a while to get an appointment, you should probably just schedule one now.
I barely touched my small glandular and it caused pain and anxiety lol. I am a water freak yet I still have it. The procedure to remove any blockage is super simple and painless. Thanks for this video I appreciate it!
They say that this is relatively uncommon in younger folks, but I'm a healthy twenty-something and have experienced this a few times now... particularly when eating something that "overstimulates" the salivary glands. I'm usually very hydrated, but going the extra mile to down water helps a lot. Massaging the affected areas and using a heating pad has also helped.
Im 18 and I think I have it, I dont know yet, I am very scared, out of nowhere tonight left side of my face started hurting alot and now its really swollen up. I am terribly scared.
@@gabrielgrgic6838 Has it gone down yet? I wouldn't start worrying about it until you've been trying to get rid of it for at least a few hours. Down water, use a heating pad, and constantly massage the area.
Same thing happened to me while eating after being soo dehydrated. side of my face just swelled up. The swelling on the face completely went away in a day and feels fine. But i still got a very mild swelling of the salivary gland. How long did it take for your swelling to completely go down?
@@reinman5651 Less than a week in my case, my grandma thought it was because of AC constantly blasting on my face in the summer. It hurt like hell, but, no treatment was needed, cloth soaked in warm water helped with pain tho. First night is the worst, then after 2 days it should slowly reduce. Mine was completely gone in about 4-5 days.
Hey man, I know i'm late on your reply but i'm curious how it worked out for you? Did you need to end up getting surgery or anything more serious? Or did you just treat at home and it passed? I'm pretty sure i'm going through this now and the last thing I want to do is any serious surgery or medical treatment.
I’ve been going thru it a few months now mostly swelling but pain simmered down til yesterday on vacay omggg, the worse everrrrrr. If that could stretch to a baseball it would’ve. I have to leave this comment here in case anyone needs to see this. Out of the blue, I wake up with a swollen parotid gland. Thought nothing of it. Then day 2, it was still there. I start to search what the problem is. I realise it's not the mumps. I don't have any fever, chills or severe swollen symptoms. It's the swelling of my parotid gland. When I chew, it hurts. I take some paracetamol and it helps with the pain. Day 3, I searched this video and started applying massages and drinking lots and lots of water. Day 4, continue doing the same. Day 5 however, I bought these super sour lemon candies to suck on. After doing that for about 30 minutes, it almost seems like the pain is gone. And whenever I touch my parotid gland, the swelling is not as tender any more. I used to be able to press it and it'll hurt, but now not as much. I HONESTLY think the sour candies really helped. It must have secreted a stone (Although I didn't notice any) or something, but it definitely helped. I will continue to suck on these candies. And I think by tomorrow or a few more days, it will subside. Hope this helps someone!
Well mine started just like yours did just out of the blue and i don't feel sick. First 2 days mild pain.. 3rd day I can notice the swelling in the mirror and it hurts to eat and move my mouth around.☹️ hurts to touch the area. I just finished a massage and it feels good atm but just like the warm compress once it's over give it 5 min and it will be hurting again. I've done everything but the candy so hope it works when I go buy some... 😅
Had a blockage last week, in cheek duct. Had the idea to “massage” the duct with my electric toothbrush. Twenty seconds-worked perfectly blockage gone!
@@jpalawan Don’t know. I get these every couple of years or so. About the size of a small pea. Just swollen. Never thought it might be a stone-but if so, they never grew. Anyway, this time, with the tooth brush, it went away in seconds. Best of luck with your treatment.
Thanks for this. My right side parotid gland had a blocked duct. Drinking lots of water and massaging from back to front did the trick and cleared the blockage after just one day.
@@user-lx7du7jf7w … wondering the same thing… why can’t the universe smile on me for a change… been dealing with this excruciating pain for 3 days now… tried all home remedies to no avail 😣
Dude I hate to see so many people suffering but am glad I’m not the only one and we can talk about it! I have had it a week and I’m miserable. Heat helps, not chewing on that side, salt water gargle and ibuprofen
This just happened to this past Friday, I was chewing food at out work potluck and in seconds my right side of jaw blew up distorting my face. I thought it was a severe food allergy and was so worried, but I could breath and there was no pain. The next day it happened again as I ate my lunch. Then I was petrified of eating. I had been drinking coffee and had started drinking tea, leaving most of my day without plain water. Good to know what I can do while I go see my md. Thank you.
Thanks for this video!!! I have horrifically painfully swollen glands - submandibular AND the parotid. I am on antibiotics and some pain meds, but even the motrin wasn't enough. I had been massaging incorrectly and this has REALLLLLLLLLLLLY helped with my pain.
It is relly helpful...i i think if some one has this problem..then before going to doctor ...and wasting their time it would be better to treat it at home by this video ...this is really helpful....video....
Many thanks for the reminders. It's been a while since "attacks" and I had needed to brush up on self care. Much appreciated. I've just come off experiencing a severe cold and think that this is likely to be a secondary infection.
Im here out of sheer panic bc mine flared up while eating dinner. Last time this happend the whole right side of my face was super swollen and had a huge golf ball sticking out from under my jaw. I wish the lemon drop trick worked for me, everytime i tried it, it made it sooo much worse! Massage and heat packs help, if all else fails ask your doc for prednisone, its a life saver when it gets out of control
I had something similar happen to my right parotid gland, no stone or infection. It swelled up after eating a powdered cinnamon donut and stayed that way all day. I messaged it and that helped a lot but eating anything with any sort of strong flavor made it explode it size. I cannot imagine eating a sour candy! That would've made my situation much much worse. I messaged it and, it was kind of weird but I could feel the saliva moving from the gland to my mouth. The saliva duct was swollen for about two days but as I said, after the first the gland was mostly fine. I haven't had a powdered donut, or anything like that since! I hope I never have this happen again, it was kind of scary at first and the right side of my face was huge!
I have the worst swelling and pain of the parotid gland> Talked to my dr. over the phone because of Covid 19. I developed a swollen and infected saliva gland in August (2022) and over the course of the past 5 1/2 months my ENT doctor has directed me to eat those same sour lemon drops and he gave me an antibiotic. I ate over 100 lemon drops which has done NOTHING whatsoever. It is now January 17th 2023, the infection is gone but it has developed into a non-cancerous tumor. The ENT has scheduled SURGERY for tomorrow morning to have it removed!!! I'm so ticked off, very nervous, and quite frankly scared.😵💫😩🤬🙀
I started swishing with coconut oil a month ago and my glands have reduced in size about 3 times. I didn't even realise they were all puffed up before. But now I think I may have some kind of blockage on one side because I'm not producing enough saliva. Wondering whether I should continue.
Are your eyes or anything else on you dry? Parotid swelling is a major symptom of Sjorgens. I got diagnosed with it today secondary to lupus. I was prescribed something to help with saliva production
i started brushing my teeth with coconut oil randomly for a few weeks and this is the first time anything crazy has happened to my glands or in my mouth. i would suggest maybe not swishing your mouth as much

I might have this. My gland under chin and by ear/neck feels insanely swollen and heavy before and after eating (which is why I'm trying to starve...) but lemon/like juice (spoonful) helps it alot. This being swollen causes INTENSE heart attack-like panic attacks....its aweful. Didn't know what it was until my father in law (ER) told me my salivary glands were swollen. Its so hard to live normally..on amoxicilin and praying it goes away soon...can't function and throat closes up often due to panic. I've raked so much in ER bills...3rd time this week. But now that I know what it is (after EVERY ER doctor just told me it was anxiety...smh) I can better manage.

I have it so bad. It started on july 2020 and now, it is 1 year already. Literally, I just ignored it at first. On December 2020, I had a fever, felt tired, and had difficulty to eat. My jaw bone disappeared due to the enlargement of the gland. I seek a doctor immediately and because it was Christmas season, also, it bothered me when I'm studying. He gave me antibiotics. It cured the enlargement, however the swollen gland not totally disappear, there is a small lump LEFT and it gradually going bigger but not like before. I've been searching on google all over again. My parotid gland is swollen a little also the parotid duct. It gets bigger when i eat sour and spicy foods😩 and later on, it goes smaller but it hurts. Grrr I can't even eat hard foods that needs to chew more like chicken. I do reaserch as always and now, i massage the swollen area and drink a lot of water. I hope that my glands return to normal 😩
Everything you just said (including the dates) are the same with me! I got this back in July 2020 submandibular and it started out small. I had no idea what it was! Went to 2 doctors who gave me antibiotics and they didn't work. Never once did they tell me to eat sour candy or drink more water! Maybe it would be smaller now if the doctors would have told me what to do! It's now about 3 and half inches diameter, sore, and swells up. I hope it doesn't get any bigger! I wish I could get over it!

I had salivary jaw swelling 2 days ago, and today all symptoms are GONE! 2 days! My jaw was hard and poking out, it was crazy. But you need an antibiotic. I did these 6 things! 1. Took Amoxicillin 2. Took Betadine gargle 3 times a day 3. Lemonhead drops (I took about 6 of those between the 2 days) 4. Glasses of water 5. Heating pad to the jaw 6. Massage going in downward motion. Gone in 2 days!

So I don't have a stone I just have a blocked salivary gland. It happens after I cut or scraped accidentally under my tongue. While healing it created scar tissue and blocked one of my salivary glands. I got several surgerys to fix it but it keeps comming back in different glands. I found this very helpful and am surprised my doctor didn't inform me of some of these tricks.
Well, this may be going on with me because I stay dehydrated and when I eat I feel like I have the Mumps all over again like I did when I was an elementary school aged child. I’m going to try this. Not sure I will try lemon drops because Lemon Heads candy used to hurt my glands when I ate them.

This video is legitimately a life saver. I was actually petrified when my neck starting swelling. I followed steps 1-3 and the stone came out within two days. It was gross, lol, but I’m so thankful.
Was it a big stone? Did it just come out by itself or you had to squeeze it out?
@@yvetteschaerer this happened to me a few years back and i was eating sour skittles. It was a small white stone. It shot out so fast. Instant relief

Good…I am going to try this….Thank You!

The slow, precise demonstration of eating the sour candy really helped.
I’m massaging my jawline and smiling ear to ear 😊
@Brandon Lee you gotta go to the doctor and explain what it is...make shure they understand it is not a tooth infection

Hope this helps someone!
what brand and flavor of sour candy did you use?
Well mine started just like yours did just out of the blue and i don't feel sick. First 2 days mild pain.. 3rd day I can notice the swelling in the mirror and it hurts to eat and move my mouth around.☹️ hurts to touch the area. I just finished a massage and it feels good atm but just like the warm compress once it's over give it 5 min and it will be hurting again. I've done everything but the candy so hope it works when I go buy some... 😅

Well, this may be going on with me because I stay dehydrated and when I eat I feel like I have the Mumps all over again like I did when I was an elementary school aged child. I’m going to try this. Not sure I will try lemon drops because Lemon Heads candy used to hurt my glands when I ate them.
Im suffering from dry mouth after mumps what should i do its 2 weeks now no saliva
If anyone can respond as quickly as possible I'd appreciate it. I've now been passing this stone from my parotid gland for 2 days!! I can't sleep or anything!?How much longer should I expect before it comes out? And does it hurt worse when coming out? And will I have immediate relief once it does? I tried sucking on sour candy and was way too painful to keep doing. So now I'm just using a heating pad and drinking lot of water. If anyone can get back to me ASAP I'd really appreciate it!!!
I have this too any updates ?
@@SleepySasuke actually it went back in and never passed.. I saw somewhere where someone was rubbing from ear down to jawline, so I did opposite and massaged it back up. When it was half way down I could tell it was to big to pass on its own. Probably have to deal with it again later but had no insurance at that time. I do now though. Hope you feel better and not sure if this helped you any...
It feels like mine that is in two parts won't budge. It's affecting my facial expression. Not sure if its synkenesis or just pressure on the nerve.
@@brittws I just got the impression surgery was too invasive and could mess w my facail nerves more. Did you get that impression at all?
thank you so very much for your video. i was dealing with a ton of pain and went to dr. gave me a pain and antibiotic but its been a journey the past 5 days. i just now started making spit again at 230am on new years day. i been doing what you said in your video for the past 2 hours. and was feeling chunks come out in my mouth. and i believe i have captured the last chunk. i have a pic of it.
Let’s see
Thanks so much this is really helpful
Dose your face get itchy and when you scratch it hurts,???
Does that work also for lymphatic node or sometime it's called Pleomorphic adenoma parotid? Thx
Great video!
How about for parotid gland tumours? I already had 2 surgery and they removed more than 100 tumors followed by radiotherapy and they still insist? I already don't have the nerve responsible for the movement of my right side. Anything I can do to help, please I am sick of surgeries and I already suffered too much for another surgery.
@Rogerio Roger I've just been diagnosed with tumour in my parotid gland. I'm scheduled to have the whole gland removed in a few weeks. I'm dreading it somewhat. Did your Specialist not recommend removal of the whole gland? I've been told I will have temporary facial paralysis on one side where gland is removed and that it may last for weeks or at most a few months.
agf1700 That’s interesting! No, as far as I know, they didn’t remove the gland. Just the tumors and the nerve responsible for the movement of my face. Too many tumors around and they could not save it. They did a lot of things I am not sure about the gland. Good luck.
@Rogerio Roger Thank you.
Try infrared light therapy
@@agf1700 hi are you still oke? mine s a little swollen on the right but it very flexible i can push it back in is it tumor?
I recently seen a doctor for my swollen salivary gland. I wasn't sure how to massage the gland but now I know.
The whole thing is super annoying so I'm hoping to be over it soon.
Thanks for the info!
How ar you now ?

I’ve had swelling since March 24th in my submandibular gland(right side) they keep suggesting swollen lymph nodes but 2 days ago my parotid gland swelled(left side)up I noticed my jaw bone was sticking out further than the other side. I’ve had a ct scan when the submandibular gland swelled but they didn’t see anything abnormal. Got a neck ultrasound last week and they say they have a diagnoses but I have to wait until Wednesday and I have to get a Laryngoscopy(camera down my nose to throat) I’m so scared don’t know what to do
This actor made my day, so funny 😂
It is useful. Thank you very much
Adding Gymnopedie to the background was a nice touch
Best video I’ve seen
My jaw swollen right now because of a broken tooth , hopefully this helps , because the pain I’m in in diabolical
This video will not help due to swelling from a broken tooth. Would perform warm compresses and see a dentist ASAP!
Worthfull vedio.. really appericate your work..
I'm feeling mine on both sides. Does that rule out stones? Because I'm thinking having stones on both cheeks simultaneously seem improbable. So infection, right?
Was it the mumps finally?
Thank you, Dr. Chang.
sir can u tell me how many days its happens in the body
What can cause both sides of the face to be numb up to the lower cheeks, chin and tip of tongue numbness? MRI and ENT unremarkable.
Currently dealing with this because of a tooth infection. I thought the infection was spreading after I started the antibiotics. I hope anyone who has this or a tooth infection the best of luck
Edit: actually I had a cyst on my lower jaw by neck but because of tooth infection in same area the infection became large and end up bursting on its own
how did it go after the burst
@@MisterSpeed68 great lol. Prior to I wasn’t eating almost the entire time. I’m sure I lost 5lbs In the time span of it. As soon as it popped I felt instant relief and mentally happier. It was a sight to see, wish I would have recorded it because I like dermatologist videos on here but was so eager to get rid of it I forgot. I still am waiting for my beard to fully grow in because I rubbed so much hair off I had to shave and it’s still kind of patchy there but oh well. Rather be clean shaven then go through this again.
Who found it? Dr or dentist?
@@nancyanguiano9861 I had neck pain prior to going to the dentist. The next day is when the swelling really took full effect I went to the ER and was prescribed a stronger antibiotic. I’m giving credit to the doctor for recognizing the antibiotics I was on wasn’t working
I had a tooth producer done for a infected root canal. Too back tooth. The swelling under my jaw was bad and still is but better. Endodontist finally put me on an antibiotic 3 days after he did the treatment. I saw my ent four days later wanting to be sure it wasn’t something else. He said my submandibular gland was not producing a lot of saliva. So he told me to give the very strong antibiotic a few days to kick in. I’m starting day four and I feel like it’s better but still swollen. I’m drinking lots of water, hot compresses and eating sour candy. I asked ENT if the tooth could do this and he said it could. I’m not sure how an infected tooth could mess with the saliva gland. Do you have any idea?
Thanks I am not getting surgery
Thanks for the video. Does Sjegrens Syndrom cause quick increase in size of the left Submandibular gland immediately while eating and then decrease in the size of the gland an hour after?
I’m not a Dr just a fellow sufferer, 4 to 5x a year with parotid gland swelling and was just in the ER this morning. As many times as I’ve had it, it has never gone away quickly-for me, it’s about 5 to 8 days minimum. I do everything I can for prevention-great oral hygiene, drink lots of water, eat well, get facial massages, etc. This really stinks. It’s going to disrupt my weekend plans just like it did on Valentine’s Day and Christmas… ugh!!!! 😩
What song is that background music
erik satie gymnopedie no 1
thanks i will do everything
Do u Have any treatment for Trigeminal Neuralgia

My left salivary gland is swollen and my left side of the face hurts, it's going down down my neck and I feel so much pain, can't sleep and eat, I haven't eaten anything in 29 hours, I'm just drinking water, I started taking antibiotics and I have a 39.5°C fever

@@johnpositive2386 really interesting, so even though the pain was up at your jaw/ear area the blockage was under your tongue? whenever anything food goes into my mouth theres a shooting pain on the left side. I'll have a look now for a stone...
Just removed my right submandibular gland through a maxillofacial surgeon. I must say if you suffering from duct pain just get rid from it.
How’s the dry mouth?
Other recommendations say to use cold compresses for swelling, not warm.
MY 80 year old causin has no pain soft swollen grand under her tongue. Her doctor recommended a surgery.
After watching this, I want to share this home treatment video with her.
Any medical adivse?
So cute! thank you
Is gland the same as lymph node? I got a big swollen thing under my chin … right side
For almost a year I've had what I think is a stone in the upper section. I'm guessing not the same stone as it comes and goes. I did get worried at the start because it really flared and hurt so much and wouldn't go. Well it's been the longest time and I've not really noticed it/it's been gone. Now I'm not enjoying work and it's a bit stressful. So could there be a link to stress and gland blockages?
