    Update (Added 6/12/20): Wow so this video became a tad popular. Thank you to everyone who left some kind words that they found it useful or informative. It really means a lot to me. Salamat sa mga nag like, comment, subscribe 🥰 Wish I could reply to everyone but between answering YT, answering FB messages, answering emails, I barely have time to run the shop 😓
    For those who left some not so kind words - thank you also for keeping me on my toes and pointing out my mistakes. Definitely I made a mistake saying that for AMD you need to get an "X" CPU if you want to OC. I MADE A MISTAKE, I'M AN IDIOT, NO EXCUSES. I will try to do better in the future.
    I will take exception though with the insinuation that I tried to hide the mistake. Even before this video became popular (it spent around 2 weeks with minimal views before YT decided to start featuring it) Belben pointed out the AMD error and I pinned the comment and responded to it. If you think this was not enough, "palusot lang" or some such other sentiment - you are free to think that and watch someone else 😁
    At Hardware Sugar we try to be a different kind of shop. We post regularly on FB / hwsugar about different builds or stories from our customers. Most shops use their online presence to sell things. I think we are the only shop that uses FB to do the reverse - we tell you what happens when you buy something from us and it breaks business. pg/hwsu...
    We try to have awesome products for awesome people. We may not always succeed but when we don't we will be upfront about it :)
    We Build Computers in the Philippines - What Could Go Wrong
    We've seen a lot of builds over the years and there are common mistakes or errors that a lot of computer shops make when building a PC. Often the customer doesn't know enough to catch the mistake or to tell the shop not to do it like that.

    For the psu part, i would suggest going for a semi modular psu. Semi modular will only have the 3 cables (cpu, pci-e, and mobo) permanently connected on the psu. Semi doesnt cost much as an equivalent fully modular psu. You can still do some cable mods using cable extensions so you wont lose customization on your build.

    All Ryzen CPUs are overclockable whether the X is there or not. The X in the Ryzen chips means the CPU can automatically apply an overclock to itself if it has enough headroom

      Plus it has higher clocks. A 3600x is just an OC'd 3600 in which you can imitate with a 3600.

    • @hwsph
      @hwsph  4 роки тому +285

      Thanks for this, Belben and Ezekiel. I should have clarified that all Ryzen CPUs can be overclocked but if you are looking to OC, the X variants, in general, give more bang for the buck. Also tbh I got carried away with making it easier for less techy ppl to understand (for Intel, look at the letter after the numbers, for AMD, same - for mobos, same) but that goal of digestibility shouldn't come at the expense of accuracy.

Kahit magkakamukha pa sila, even if it's from the same manufacturer, they may be rated differently and could instantly destroy your components. Make sure to segregate your modular power supply cables with each power supply brand and model only. :D

    Ryzen processors that have no X suffix are also unlocked. Also, sometimes it's better to choose the Ryzen with the X suffix because, for example, the 2700X runs at higher base and boost clocks than the 2700.
    Also, dual channel will greatly benefit CPU performance, including games, ESPECIALLY people who buy AMD APUs.

      yes I agree. I am using an APU build Ryzen 5 4650g. I cheap out in the ram department due to budget issue, I only bought a single 16gb 2666mhz stick. I was noob back then. And when I found out about dual channel, a month later I bought 2 pcs of Adata XPG D50 3200mhz 8gb DDR4 rams and holy smokes, from 40-60 fps on CSGO, to 100-170 fps. I overclocked the iGPU Vega 7 to 2300mhz 1.230V gfx voltage and also have overclocked my ram into 3600mhz.

    I like the video, it's great creating one of this.
    But here are my opinions:
    Mistake 1:
    You can overclock any Ryzen CPU on any compatible board (not recommended, but able)
    Sometimes you'll get the "K" variant because at stock it's still better than the "non-K" variant.
    Mistake 2:
    I agree. Another reason is it's better to have 2 if one ram dies, you'll still have half of it.
    Mistake 3:
    I agree with the board, and I think they need to check if it's intel or amd cpu, because only AMD are taking advantage of the memory clock speed.
    Mistake 4:
    Good tip. PSU is like the heart of the PC. Once your graphics card require a 6-pin/8-pin power connector, from there you must have at least a good PSU with 80+ certification.
    Mistake 5:
    Perfect. but the lifespan (as proven on experience) of the ssd is really shorter than the HDD. I had my m.2 died in less than a year. But it still depends.
    Bonus mistake:
    Performance builders never says that even as a joke, they never recommend RGBs.

    • @pkpnyt4711
      @pkpnyt4711 Рік тому

      Having one experience of an SSD dying early doesn't prove it has a shorter life than an HDD. I bought an SSD in 2014 and it still runs to this day (running win 7 in my kids gaming pc). At the same time I've had 3 Western Digital HDDs (1 black, 1 blue, 1 green ) die already. I've also had HDDs that have lasted for more than 7 years. The truth of the situation is SSDs have no moving mechanical parts and an HDD has. This means, on average, the mechanical moving parts will die sooner rather than later, because... physics.

    PSU - " if budget allows get a full modular" better say if budget allows get an 80+ for better efficiency.

    • @AntonioCruz-gh5hr
      @AntonioCruz-gh5hr 4 роки тому

      yeah he should say get a true rated 80+ bronze type of psu, full modular is only for better cable management

    • @edvargas4159
      @edvargas4159 4 роки тому

      Most modular PSUs are rated 80+Bronze or at least white.
      If we want better then need to recommend at least Gold or strive for Plat instead of Bronze.

      I've gone (wd nvme) black and won't go back (to hdds). haha medyo pilit but I completely agree, once you experience SSD speeds, even just the regular sata ssds, you won't go back anymore to hdds as your boot drive 😀

      My dad got a 7 y.o. laptop which has a 5400rpm so slow boot up would take minutes just to be able open apps I replaced it with sata ssd boot times improved from minutes to just 14 seconds.

      It depends for using a SSD. Without a doubt, SSD/NVME is the best for gaming, rendering, and loading. But for files such as documents, backups, etc etc is a BIG no no for SSD.

    I tried your website and determined it is soooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Overpriced.
    Seriously! I was actually trying to buy from your store just to notice that some are overpriced that I didn't even bother trying. I'm not trying to bash you or anything, this is just my review from your website and I hope this message will be a guide to determine whether the price given should be okay or not.
