      I think there is a case for the death penalty but of course it cannot be given willy nilly. There must be evidence without a shadow of a doubt. If there is any doubt it should not be carried out.

      Well the judge's job is to come up with a verdict based on the evidence brought forward to them, so it's not really their fault the evidence was circumstantial and incorrect. The detectives and prosecution should really be the one facing penalty for doing thier job very unprofessionally.

      Any bent cops who falsified evidence and hid proof of innocence from the defence, should spend twice as long in general population of the prison while wearing a police uniform or having "cop" printed in large glowing letters in their prison uniform.

      he hasnt had it easy since he got out either. been divorced 4 times (one to a 22 year old while he was 52, kinda creepy...) got arrested and jailed for theft and criminal mistreatment two years ago, and has been living in a trailer in bumfuck Oregon ever since.

    I’m outraged that he had to fight so hard to get DNA done to prove his innocence. The DA’s work for us! That requires protecting the innocent against the unfair prosecution by the State. We MUST change or make a law that allows the accused to sue for DNA to prove innocence. What an outrage.

      The justice system always has its flaws, if you ask someone how many innocent lives they think should be executed and their answer is zero, then they should be against the death penalty

      I saw a documentary, I believe, that shows 50 people on death row who had all killed 50 or, more people & who said they would kill again.
      They smirked & showed no remorse @ all.

    You would think the Courts would want to use all means possible to ensure there are NO innocent people in prison. They actually try to keep hidden any possible mistakes and fight against any means to uncover mistakes. THEY should be prosecuted for this!!!

      In many places in the southern USA the first Blackman they see gets arrested charged and convicted for any crime to a white person Thousands of people have been falsely imprisoned over the course of our history Not just black but by far the majority

    Read his wiki, Nicholas Yarris. He fought a cop which led to their death, pretended to know the murderer of that woman to get a plea deal, and once authorities tracked the suspect down they found he was uninvolved and this guy became the suspect. This poor man is insane.

      Ok so I read it. The part that isn’t clear is whether he fabricated the story entirely about knowing who committed the rape/murder in an effort to get early release or if he actually thought based on his own evidence and experiences that the person he accused was the person who committed the crime.

That person he said was responsible was uninvolved. It appears Nicholas had no proof or any involvement in the case, he simply saw an article in a newspaper.

      So for starters he resisted arrest and then they charged him with kidnapping a police officer and attempted murder of a police officer, he read the paper and saw a story in there and decided to pin it on a guy for a plea deal that he thought was dead. Turned out he was alive and thats why the police picked him up for it instead. He was already facing god knows how long gor a crime he didn't do. Fabricated a story to get him out of it to only land up having been slapped with another charge for a crime he didn't do as a result.

    This right here is why there is such a problem with our legal system when it comes to grape.
    In these matters, it is generally up to the man to prove his innocence rather than the other way around and the most disgusting part is that in cases where the woman has been proven to have lied all she ever gets is a slap on the wrist.

      Why dont you investigate the murder and rape yourself then. In fact ask for a dna sample and test it yourself. Go do some digging. Pull up the case files yiu can you request them under the freedom of information act and look at them yourself. I suppose you might just be to ignorant to do the research before making up your mind.     Seeing this man and the pictures when he was young makes me sick to the stomach. I can't even begin to imagine how it must have felt for him to be seen as a dirty monster for such a long time. The courage and strength of this man is out of this world.

    False imprisonment should grant the person 100k per year for served time. The money should come from the county DA office. This will help prevent wrongful incarcerations.

    The judge, lawyers and detectives who put this man in jail should be charged. Although he lost precious time I hope this man was compensated well.

    Do you have a recording of this in its entirety? If you don't, do you know where I could listen to the whole thing. Has he written a book? I've read a little bit about neuroplasticity and it's a very interesting science which helps people heal their brains. There's a lot to it, it's also spiritual.

    What the heck, I cant believe that, u had to go through this, still affected decades after... yourself, Damien echols, Justin T and countless others, just awe and admiration of those fighting with you to get convictions overturned, far too long for that injustice, just amazed at your strength!
