Artist David Darrow joins Roger in the Santa Fe countryside where they set up to paint a landscape. David uses oils while Roger uses acrylics discussing the difference in the two mediums and how they each approach the subject with composition and color. Sarah visits one of the well known galleries on Canyon Road and talks with the owner about Western art.
Hi...really enjoyed listening to you and David talking, exchanging ideas and experiences about your painting techniques and dos and don'ts.
You’re a really good teacher - you go into detail as the painting progresses.
Enjoyed this Roger. Black and yellow make a nice green.
That's certainly true. I did another video called "The Zorn Palette" where green was made using yellow ochre and black.
Good times. Loved the outtakes at the end. My best to you and Sarah!
Thanks David. That was really a fun time we had when we filmed this.
Always great to see you paint 🎨
Thanks Parker
Mr Rodger as always I enjoyed watching you paint. And loves the banks of your Ravine the colors that were in it ,but we didn't get to see (any of his work at all )nor was he asked to show( his pallet) your your friend David .😢😢😢
You didn't get to see his palette, etc as I only have so many cameras to film with at one time. You did get to see his work though I'm pretty sure.
Just love that area, loved the art you two painted. Flowers in question are purple asters. I'm guessing you did this in late summer? (Loved the outtakes at end too!)
We love painting out there but as I remember it was awfully hot period of course being here in St. Augustine FL it's also hot. Today it's 95 degrees.
This was a little different, you and another artist. I enjoyed this, as always. The purple flowers are called purple asters. Looked like you had some yucca that's gone to seed too.
It was really fun painting with David Darrow. I've only filmed 3 shows with other artists.
I really enjoy watching all of your videos. Thanks for taking time to teach and explain your technique. Could you please tell me which brand of acrylic paint you use? Thank you so much!
M. Graham is very good. Liquitex heavy body is very good too and it's available most everywhere.
@@Bansemer Thank you!!
