  • Massive Monday. July delivers a big blow in the Corridor and Doug’s today. I was able to deploy my smallest glass board(circa 1992) i own which is a good thing! Forgot my knee brace at the worst possible time. A senior moment. I will live. We all got our exercise for the day. I’m just back to sailing a little over a week (a month hiatus) and could not pass up my sailing friend’s encouraging texts and the insane forecasts. A few had to be rescued due to breakdowns. It was quite gusty. Everyone here got "worked" in one way or another and we all complained about various body parts in distress. One friend got pummeled on the rocks and got a bit bloodied and I lost my front teeth but no big deal, my dentist in Lake O is the best. Peer pressure worked. Missed one of my buddies from out of state because I came late to the party. But the wind held out for the rest of us. Thanks B for the help getting me out on the water. Everyone else was out on 2.5 to 3.0 and the 3.7 was an ok call for me. I realize i could use a wack of a lot more volume i know at 240lbs ...but l love this little board and how it feels WHEN it finally pops up on a plane. A board ahead of its time. I am only a little over 30 yrs older than my board so it’s not that old. Custom made in the Gorge for the Gorge. Thanks again LES, back in the early 90s you were a good friend and great board maker/shaper and shaker back in the day. I think you are still in South Africa or i heard possibly San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina ? Hope to connect in the future. Thanks for watching and get out there and get it! Gratitude.

    Badass !!! I loved My 3.2 sail
Wave Sailing it at Jalama Beach but most of the 5.4 4.8 totally Powered up on the 3.2 it was the closest feeling ripping on a badass dirt bike moto X style !!! I could jump curling waves and double jump waves. The sound the board makes at those speeds is so Crazy BEST OF TIMES mid 90s Stay Strong out There !!! 😎💪💪

Love older 'vintage' boards ... I used to sail a 'sinker' back in the day (and I could up haul it), that idea is crazy to new windsurfers, battering their way across the tops of the chop on their massive wide door of a windsurfer ... there's a lot to be said for being a little low in the water, connected and locked in.

@@the_grand_tourer Thanks Tourer! Appreciate you! I agree 100% up until I heard the “up haul”. In my 240 lb world it’s not gonna happen.. unless I drop 100 lbs :) then it’s a stretch . Do you remember what brand and size it was and how much you weighed at the time cause if you went my route you packed on another 50 lbs! Yes I enjoy being low in the water connected and dialed in but something seems to always disrupt my harmony for some reason ha ha

@@Humpty-Dumpty-1962 This was way back when I didn't carry any extra weight! when I did up haul the board was ankle to calf depth under the water, I was more agile! As it moved forwards it eventually got onto a plane. Boards were measured by length, not volume, in those days.

Thanks Kbrown I felt all 62 yrs yesterday when I woke up :( Hey slowly get back in shape with a good personal trainer and TRY AGAIN if possible! I could not sail for well over a decade due to multiple TBIs and at one point had complete memory loss. Everything was wiped clean. But slowly through years of rehab was able to get out 3 yrs ago and have had roadblocks( other issues) but I am still pushing forward. Appreciate you, don’t give up!

@@Humpty-Dumpty-1962 Thanks for the encouragement and the inspiration. I am trying to shape up so I can give it another go or two this summer. I’d love to get back to where I could handle the heavier fall winds again in two-three months. Hopefully my 25+ year old gear will hold up long enough for me to get at least a few good sessions in before everything falls apart (including me). Thankfully my wife is encouraging and helping me as well. I’m 67 with a couple medical issues but it was mainly the poor cardio condition that got to me the last time I tried. It definitely wasn’t like riding a bike again after a long delay. Fair winds.

Your very welcome :). Your gear should re-serve you well if everything was stored properly. I would pick a light wind day and start slow and build strength and endurance incrementally. Do cardio at home or your gym regularly. Soon enough you’ll be rocking and rolling!

I have this propensity of eating it that way. However I rigged way too fast and furiously with branches from trees nearly hitting us. However you make a great point and If I could do it all over again I would raise it at least an inch or 2 higher formore power. If you watch the next video I published in “moderate” wind you will see my boom has returned to a reasonable level :)
