- "Joining the Grateful Dead's repertoire in 1972, Looks Like Rain was a standout track from Bob's 1972 solo record Ace. This performance is one of the many highlights from the Dead's Egypt shows in 1978, and highlights Donna's magnificent contributions to the Grateful Dead's sound." -David Lemieux

I will direct anyone who says donna cant sing to this. Those harmonies are something else
Direct them to a round and round this is not her best
Outworldly ❤
No she can’t. Annoying as hell. Just missed her live but spent years on tour.
@@shelleyw1858 Outworldly Far Out she is💯❤️
Just love The Dead being the beauty they are❣️
@@sanderschwartz4901❤❤❤100%Ds the best YO LAND @ Ds like a ninjitsu sam 🙊🙉🙈👀🖤
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard ! The voices, the lyrics, the guitar solo, the bass, the perfect drummers timing, the ambience, the ......, The Grateful Dead
Same❤
Me too🎉
Same❤
The guy at 3:44, his face says it all. Glad my face was at a few…love you guys
He’s high AF. 😁
Donna, and Bobby's vocals in this one have always been one of my faves
I agree 100% percent. In my opinion, I think the Dead should have just retired that song when the Godchauxs' left in 1979, because they never really captured that same magic ever again on that song without Donna...😔
@@mcgannahanskyjellyfetti6854 I feel like I've heard a version from 91 that was good, but it is maybe my favorite Weir song period
IMHO this was the very best musical moment from this concert release. Donna & Bobby nail the harmonies !
I always thought that Bobby and Donna had GREAT chemistry...
When I was younger, I could not listen to this song when I was alone because I would start to cry. This is an amazing version.Boy am I glad I grew up with this band being around.
Twenty years today since my fathers been gone, not a single day has passed that i havent thought about him. I miss you dad and will love you forever. "Brave the storm to come, for it surely looks like rain" .
Wow. Simply the best version I have ever experienced. I think Phil was enjoying this one.
I've been listening to this song all week, awesome timing.
Same here.....

I was fortunate enough to catch "the Rain" two or three times. It was always an experience of sublime passion and joy. We all felt blessed to have gotten it, sanctified as it were, as if by some Holy Ghost that followed the Dead around. Such beauty seemed ethereal and supernatural, something too good to be taken for granted, like something from another world. RIP
Was she Still with Keith?
OR had he already PASSED?
I suppose that they had Already “Split” Before Keith died
:o((((
It's just that I... have gotten used to havin' you around.
But I'll still sing you love songs written in the letters of your name.
Thx for the post. That Jerry solo is so hot.
Donna was *ON* this night !
The BEST versions of this song are with Donna...🍺😎👍
Stunning....perfect rendition!
Right on
Rock on..
that bass line phil hits at the very start is almost deafening
beautiful!! i have not seen ANY of the giza shows!!!
Oh my happy place is found 🥰
Thank you for posting
this is wonderful
This is me and David's love song
He used to usher for Jerry garcia band and The GD In the early 90s at the Warfield and the fillmore in SF
I can't ever hear it again without crying tears of joy
I miss him everyday
Phil is feelin' it!
We all are......
thanks for this thing called life and the reminder of this with this thing we call real music!
Great version⚡️
Would have loved to have seen them in Egypt...Thanks
This is pure

12,000 years ago a guy is wondering why in the fuck are we moving all these fuckin rocks around?-----and the answer winked and moved on, he told his wife about it, she told him it was a dream, a dead dream
what a masterpiece! And for the first time, i liked Donna's singing too.
FANTABULOUS
I love you I love you I love you thank you thank you thank you!
FRICKIN KILLING IT!!!
greatest to ever do it
Daddyo. Once again! 🌹. You broke my heart.
That one shot of the really spun dude upfront! Helllll yeahhhhh
The guy at 3:45 is loving life.
Wolf sounding GOOD.
yes
The guy at 3:46 is really feeling it. Hope he and everyone there had a good life.
Remember watching this on vhs when I was 15 wish I didn't watch to the point of being eaten by the VCR
❤❤❤❤❤
⚡💀⚡
Wow.
💞 1st show caught LLR 💞
😊Epic
3:00-3:42 so nice
Nice one. Go Jerry.
Jerry and that guy at base of stage. Saw that guy at every concert
Still cry
I heard the cats at 2:16!
Sounded like Jerry wanted to keep that jam at the end going. Still a great performance on this song!!!
What does Jerry say to Bob at 559?
Who’s meowing after “streets cats makin love”?? 😂
I m trying to figure that out too , I love that part
2:16 "meow"
Anyone know what Jerry said to Bobby?
😊💃
Jerry seems to be desperately trying to get the drummers in synch here. "Weir- yeah finally".
Omg
Dude
Bass radge man
FARM OUT
Francais Monsoir?
Who does the 'meow' at 2:16? Is it one of the drummers pulling an adolescent stunt? It's awesome in any event!
Thought it was Donna❤😻
@@sanderschwartz4901I think it’s one of the drummers or even maybe Keith. I’ve watched it 20 times now. Can’t figure it out. It’s not Bob, Donna, Jerry or Phil, as far as I can tell anyway. 🐈🙀
as those guys were chiseling dem stones I think they knew that something like this would take place in the future
A good day for a hearty bowl of potato soup and one of our fine IPA's at the Palisade Brewery...
Goodbye!
This is a good one. They kinda do the cats meow for "street cats making love" line but I know there's another version where they make meows with their instruments for that line. Can I get some help here
👁👁
Was Keith there?
Is that David Duchovny at 3:50?
Not even close 🙄
nope, that's his dad.
😉😁
I was going to pour some more concrete or at least try to slope what is there away from the foundation of the house, however it just looked like rain all day- that kind of pissy ass Tlaloc kind of sky you really don't want to mess with if- if it did happen to come down on you it ain't going to be no Seattle drizzle but all heaven unleashes its fury kind of sky.
Certainly a fabulous version. So is this one ua-cam.com/video/Bzn8w9Zkxm8/v-deo.html
solo acoustic Bobby- just WOW!!
My girlfriend admitted that she doesn't like the Dead, so she's single now
It's different it's just not like it what it was in 88
So I heard that when the band decided to part ways from the Donna and Keith, Donna told Jerry you and the band are going to hell in a bucket and Jerry said at least I’m enjoying the ride
Sources?
@@ryanmoore2779 Rainbow Family back in the mid nineties told me that little gem at their nudist colony in Oregon. Is it true? I don’t know but there were lots of people there that had followed the dead since they were the warlocks
Cmon now...
I believe "Hell in a bucket" is actually about 1% motorcycle clubs & their members attending shows in the 60's & 70's.
@@rogergoodman8665 that sounds way more likely with the actual motorcycle sounds in the studio version, “up and down carpeted halls.” That had to be a scary time to be a dead head and get ripped off by an MC
I’ve never been a fan of Donna, it’s the yelling and screaming that goes right thru me plus I can’t imagine the Dead without Brent
let's just be honest this isn't a good version the band looks bored
Playing a concert at the pyramids is the ultimate white guy virtue signal
Talking about “virtue signaling” is just lame.
Making that comment is virtue signaling for yourself.
You seem like a fun fella to have a beer with
pretty sure they went to have fun
What virtue are they signaling and what makes the pyramids 'white'. I have 0 idea what on earth you mean by any of this? They wanted to play a gig in a beautiful and awesome location for the sheer fun of it so they did.
😭😭😭
